Another milestone by Sony today. The A9 rocked the world which forced Canon and Nikon to invest heavily into Mirrorless back in 2017. 6 years later, they are doing it again with the A9-iii that has a GLOBAL SHUTTER!!! A 50 mp sensor will not be able to achieve 120 fps unless Sony does something revolutionary again to achieve that insane burst speed. @@sougata8332 I bought my first Canon Ti and used the heck out of that DSLR for 2 years before moving onto the Canon 5D Mark II. They were great for their times but back then, Canon and Nikon weren't in a hurry to innovate their cameras. I do understand that 5 years was the norm for a camera's life span before a newer model comes out. But when it did, it was just another DSLR. Sony's 2nd generation Mirrorless camera back in 2014 impressed me a lot. I love the Face detection feature that track my subject without having to switch focus points all the time. It's one of the biggest reason why I switched to Sony. It's always great to have competition so that it forces companies to innovate or be left behind. Had Canon and Nikon invested heavily in Mirrorless back in 2013, Sony would have exited the camera market. @@Ausknutz You are right! For weddings or event gigs, I prefer 24mp so that the files and images are not so HUGE!!!! Majority of the times, I don't crop my images as I will frame my scene before capturing away. The only time I want 42 mp images with my a7Riii is when I am shooting landscape shots like during a wedding ceremony. Otherwise, my clients are not going to zoom in on every image to see who was at their weddings. And if people want bigger images, just double their pixels in photoshop. Yes, I understand that its not the same quality as an actual 50 mp sensor, but it still comes 80% close to it. Such simple steps and people always have something to complain about. Otherwise, 24mp is the minimum sweet spot for cameras now. And we all have to keep in mind that lower mega pixel counts does mean faster read out. I'm sure a 12 mp global shutter sensor can hit 240 fps easily.

Yes, the last dslr camera that has electronic shutter and can sync at any shutter speed before this was the nikon d70, now after amost 20 years, finally a camera with global electronic shutter is made again. 😁
I guess that's the purpose of that Composite RAW. Noise is just errors, if you're able to repeatedly read the sensor very fast, you can probably reliably filter out noise.
What an amazing camera. The new tech in it is so wild, I can't wait to see how ridiculously packed the next gen Alpha 1 is gonna be. I don't need this class of cameras but I still want one!

Now it's their end of their end. HUGELY appreciate the 2mm wider body, the larger but curvier grip, the more slanted plane for the shutter button. Tiny things, that finally address more substatially previous Sony criticisms. As well as Sony finally having both a great EVF, and a great LCD, and the great dual-rotate screen of the A7R V. And great stabilisation, and a bonus of a front button. All in the same camera. All these for the cost of a 24 MP stacked sensor flagship.

If you can’t make $100 k a year as a photographer it’s time to find a new profession… I average $300k and my wife averages $180k .. but to your point yes the gear won’t make you better but it’ll make life easier and in this case allow you to capture things that no other camera can if it’s a have to have shot and you’re working professionally.. no one makes really a bad camera anymore. Pixel peepers don't usually buy 24.6 mp anyway.. but yes the flash sync not being a problem ..even with third party flashes is gold
Glorious news! This is something us video guys have missed since the standard definition days.
Donald Trump like this video
Allways ahead of the industry. Congrats to dev team!
You misspelled “dedicated” at 6:15 - surprised that made it past the editors for a product launch 😂 great camera though!
😭
This MASTERPIECE will change the photography world. Especially the action photography
Can't wait for the global shutter to be on the A7V.
Yup, even if not so fast, as long as it's there and can do 1/12000 sec sync or better.
What an amazing camera. The new tech in it is so wild, I can't wait to see how ridiculously packed the next gen Alpha 1 is gonna be. I don't need this class of cameras but I still want one!
I've been waiting for a large camera manufacturer to offer multiple exposure stacking like smartphones do to reduce noise, so the composite raw sounds interesting. It's unfortunate though that it's not processed in-camera but needs a desktop app.
At 1:21 there is typo. Should "button" not bottun
Well done, Sony!
It always amazes me what Sony comes up with. Leading in innovation
Wow. Just wow. This is probably one of the best hybrid cameras to date. Even though I am mainly a filmmaker, I would definitely start popping out some stills with this beast.
Canon and Nikon have got some serious catching up to do! Bravo Sony on the first full-frame global shutter!
Wow capturing frames BEFORE shutter release is an awesome idea. Kudos to the innovators. Movie-wise, AI AF improvement and 4K 120p WITHOUT crop is most welcome. Stabilization is however not a major area of concern nowadays with gimbals and all. Overall, what an elegant way to enhance technology. GO SONY !!
That's not new. Fuji did that already with XT3 and Olympus too. Same can said about RAW stacking. Pentax does that since K3 days, that's 10years ago.
Nikon did it in the 1 series I believe too (so before Fuji).
@@sulev111yeah I suspected this couldn't be the first. Hence safely said kudos to the innovators.. whoever it was originally. Thank you for mentioning them ☺
You don't even have to get off the bed, the A9III goes to work on its own !
Yeah definitely, curious how that effects battery consumption
From specs, nailed it! Another Sony a9 1 moment, that took the market by storm. Hope it will live up to the hype, without major practical drawbacks including bad high ISO performance, easy overheating etc.
Then, it was the beginning of the end for the DSLRs.
$6k... so the a1II is going to cost $8k? Can we get the a8 with 60fps at 33mpx for $4.499? 😢😢
After a decade talking about it, Global shutter finally makes it debut on a commercial photography camera
Pretty Insane Camera, this one is a Game Changer! Pre-Ordering.
Rich life 😅
I wonder if the pre capture will come to other sony cameras like the A1, A7 Iv or A7C II
Good job sony

You're telling me THEY FIXED ROLLING SHUTTER??? I'm gonna bust
Edit: just saw the price… not busting anymore… selling my kidney
As a Fujifilm user, I’m ready to dab with Sony again. They seem to be always pushing the boundaries all the time.
Amazing..❤
Anybody else spot the typo at 6:08?
🔥🔥🔥
Global shutter, WOW. I have the feeling like the time a7siii released. A creation, an invention, a new level. We'll see future cameras will inherit this global shutter feature. #Sony ❤
One of the downsides on global shutter is usually lower dynamic range (for video in general). That’s why the alexa still uses rolling shutter. I hope this one does well in this category.
This sensor also does not have dual gain iso.
how much technology has reached so far! more than impressive!!
Insane 😮 Sony always 1 step ahead 😊
10 steps ahead actually
@@j2k325 Well it's rumored that canon has been developing a global shutter r1 for quite some time now, so their technological levels are not exactly *that* far off
Amazing video. So incredibly produced. This is truly peak.
Lets hope pre capture will be included in the next a1 firmware update 🤞
Thanks Sony for making these great machines.
only $6000 US or $8300 CAD
Amazing! Is there any reason not to get this but Hasselblad X2D system when this can do global shutter with flash sync at any speed now other than higher megapixels count?
Very different cameras but yes. Pretty awesome for action for sure. But 6k hmmm
this camera is even more famous now lmao
little out of my price range so i'll stick with the a6400
All Sony models are my top favourite and first choice to select when it come to buying the camera products.
Love it ❤
Where's the α1 firmware update you guys mentioned at the α9 III announcement?
Nice!
Does global shutter reduce or remove rolling shutter on video at 24 fps?
$6000 how disappointing ,no thank you. Any chance of making a stacked sensor camera aimed at wedding and event photographs , we don’t need 120pps . It will be way cheaper to switch to two z8 even with having to change all my lenses .
Are you going to stop cropping the sensor to 16:9 when shooting in video mode? Or am I going to be keeping my Fuji X-HS2?
You guys don’t need to spend $2,000 on a new body every year or two to take great photos! I’m still rocking a mint D700 I bought used for $200. All of those photography hipster video channels are owned by people who literally take thousands of photos and only share the best ones and they have talent, they could use a 30 year old digital camera and still produce better photos than you or me. Do you actually believe that this new Sony camera is going to make you so much better and you’re going to make $100,000 or more per year with it?
If you can’t make $100 k a year as a photographer it’s time to find a new profession… I average $300k and my wife averages $180k .. but to your point yes the gear won’t make you better but it’ll make life easier and in this case allow you to capture things that no other camera can if it’s a have to have shot and you’re working professionally.. no one makes really a bad camera anymore. Use the tools you need for what you shoot and your income allows. Cheers friends!
Well Sony you’ve done it again ❤
Placing my pre-order.
Who like me comment here because of that Trump photo!
Damn, global shutter in such a small camera! Btw, is that a unfocused shot I see (focus on his arm) when boasting about their auto focus at 2:20? Those other focus shots looks sooo hood though
I'm so glad I switched a few years ago from canon to sony. The shooting has been excellent and their continued development has been STELLAR. Incredible stuff.
Just unbelievable. Kudos to sony for pushing tech and photography
Wow, just wow. Technology at the sum of all things by Sony released up till now. What a flagship camera they've produced. Cpongrats . The team working on the A1 MK 2 has got big shoes to fill.
I’m really glad for this; you’ll kick A.I. in the bleep with this! Fantastic…keep innovation coming!
3:15 8.0 step advantage ? 🙂
характеристики и возможности впечатляют. Sony молодцы👍
I’ve always been a videographer very few photography. But man I believe the videos that you can make are it’s this is insane
Chefs kiss Sony, congrats to everyone who made this happen.
Flash shooting at any shutter speed, that is a revolution by itself!!
I am grateful for the opportunity to explore creative expression alongside SONY.
Unreal - This will truly revolutionize the camera industry - as an avid Photographer & Sony shooter, I can't wait for this tech to find its way in your other line of cameras - Well done Sony - すばらしい
Dont forget Minolta, the predecessor of Sony cameras, and how boundary breaking was their first Alpha model, when they introduced autofocus and in body film winding for the first time
Konica Minolta :)
1:22 what's a bottun? Is that a new feature?
Will you abandon firmware updates like you did with the a7siii
