  • In this video, I illustrate the methods I used to modify a Haswing Protruar 1.0 brushless 12V 65lb thrust trolling motor for use with a wired remote. Some parts may be determined by the builder (TDB). I had previously shortened the trolling motor shaft and will include the video tutorial link in this narrative.
    Parts:
    * Project box (TBD).
    * Waterproof Gland Nuts (TBD).
    * 3 Pin 18AWG IP67 Extension Cable with Male/Female Connectors.

    I used a 10k ohm potentiometer, and two 1k ohm resistors on the wipers. Works wonderfully.

      Yes, I have seen the 10K center detent pot upgrades but they used 1K resistors on the +/-

      Will any 10k pot work? And are the 1k resistors required for them to work?

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  Рік тому +1

      @@NiteWolfeFishing The 1k resistors are needed due to the original pot configuration. Pots are not my specialty but ask on Tiny Boat Kayak Nation and you will get an explanation from more knowledgeable people.

    Nice vid, i took my pot out of the black housing to better fit in my tiller arm box.
    Now if we could just find a good aftermarket prop for this motor that would be great. I swear i think the stock prop is some type of limited slip hub. Which is weird for a trolling motor prop that has a shear pin.
    The shaft is a weird size also so standard props dont fit without drilling them out.

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  Рік тому +1

      Thanks. My guess about the shaft size is that it makes you buy their replacement prop.

      i tried to drill one out and it worked but hard to really say if better, i have made a few out of just about any 10k pot and it worked well, yes i would use 2 1k ohm resistors, i tried messing with dif values but 1k seems the happy med.

    Congratulations sir. You showed me the rabbit hole and I've jumped in. If I wanted to add a kill switch, would I just put it in line with one of the leads from the pot? (please excuse my ignorance. I'm great with wood, terrible with electronics). Thanks in advance!

    Thank you for the video, it's great as always! Two questions:
    1. I've read in some review that the lowest speed of this stepless motor is too high. What can you say about that? Can you set it at a very low rpm?
    2. How about using a linear pot with a middle detent? What value pot would that be?
    Thanks!

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you Andrei. I have found the lowest speed to be fine for a kayak. You could use a 10k pot with a center detent but you would need to adjust the knob for the different "0" point on the Haswing. You also need to add two 1k resistors. I did this in another video.

    Nice vid! not much info/video about these motor on the net, but are those 10awg wire for the battery? if they say its 50amp max then why not use 6awg wire instead just to be safe? 6ft total including what goes down in the shaft to the motor for trolling that take only 25amps for exemple yeah that might work but what about travelling at full speed? at let says 50amp if that claim is true?

      I have had mine a year, used in both salt amd freshwater. It is a little noisy. But most brushless motors i have had are. Its light. And mine wide open only drew 45 amps. I usually run mine 3/4 throttle. One thing to get used to is a slight delay in start stop. And transitioning from forward and reverse. Its brushless so there is a delay. Nothing bad just is.

      @@bretshivers8352 1 year salt and fresh water. That is good news. That means the motor seals seem to be of decent quality. Well, all motors make some kind of noise but really nothing compared to the old gear driven designs from Haswing. A brushless motor for that price is hard to beat. Next on the price ladder up is Newport Vessels. OK, there are a lot more things in the kid but now we are also talking about close to 1000$. Well at least we had our own choice of battery. Yeah, really looks like the ball gets rolling. That´s a lot of Haswings for the price of a Torqueedo same size
