- All Moonscorch Transitions in Fear & Hunger 2: Termina.
The Moonscorch is caused by the Old Moon God Rher and causes the main characters to morph into horrid creatures based on their darkest desires. The main character transformations include: Abella turning into Chaugnar, Marcoh into Giant, Karin into Valkyrie, O'saa into Mastermind, Marina into Cocoon, Levi into Weeping Scope, Olivia into Mechanical Dance, and Daan into Pocketcat.
Moonscorching will happen once Day 3 is over or if you spend too long outside on Masochism mode and results in a game over.

I think O'saa's transformation is one of the most underrated. Being a yellow mage, he always did not want to be under someone's control. Even his moonscorched form references this fear, given that he takes on the form of a parasitic mushroom. When the transformation begins, even in his last seconds he tries to maintain control over himself through meditation

It's pretty interesting to see O'saa trying to control his moonscorching. Outside of the bit, I find it really cool that his transformation is just that him meditating. Trying to collect himself. Even the mastermind isn't horrifically mutated since it's really just his head. Besides, he does learn real power, the shadow arms are pretty cool, and I think his mumbles are that of old languages. I think he's still conscious, it's just that he can't communicate with the rest of the contestants anymore. He sees his fate, and like any good yellow mage, he tries to control the power beyond him. I like to think he succeded, to some extent.

It’s such a great touch that every person has their very own transformation instead of just a generic fade to black
They also represent their greatest insecurities. Olivia being immobile and restricted by her condition, Levi being a living weapon, Abella being too masculine, Marcoh being a meathead, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, the manebas you find in the dungeons are all Rher's servants. Also, in a hidden room accessible if you complete the puzzle in the catacombs, you can find another one of Rher's servants, the "Lady of the moon".

Da'an's isn't even moonscorch, it's something else entirely.
Maybe it's because Da'an has a blank soul, maybe it's because Rher is a jealous god that tries to prevent others from ascending to goodhood, maybe it's because his unknowing ties regarding the sulfurcult. I only hope to get answers on this.
I think Pocketcat just shows up moment before he gets moonscorched and convinces him to give up since he's pretty much screwed
His battle soundtrack is still Breath of the Moon instead of Desperation.
Yeah and Pocketcat is one of two known creations of Rher that help carry out this function(besides Rher's direct influence). There's a possibility that its all a combination of those. The blank soul is possibly a double edged sword that can manifest into another soul(that are more likely to ascend without sitting on the Mahabre throne) but are more susceptible to otherworldly entities(like Pocketcat). Daan who desires to know about the sulfur god(and its cult) will inevitably lead to him into learning more about Perkele and Rher(along with the old/new gods). Pocketcat actively seeks out children who have more of a likelihood of ascending and Daan seems to fit that criteria. I also feel that Rher doesn't interfere with it's creation hence why Daan isn't moonscorched but becomes Pocketcat. At the same time I do think there are rules/limitations that Pocketcat has since he can't just simply take over Daan whenever he wants.
Or maybe, he's just a dirty degenerate furry all alonh

Daan's situation perfectly summarize the depression status. You can fight it, you can win it. But the problem is, you already lose when you start the fight. There are no trophy when you win, only to buy some time till the next come and deplete your menal power, which I think what the blank soul represents.

That furry one caught me off guard so bad 😭😭
Im actually so disappointed that i beat the game without naturally encountering any of the moonscorched. I did my first play through as abella and immediately killed the guy who attacks you when you sleep in the mansion. I then proceeded to not encounter any of the moonschorched until i touched the tower door and had my party turn against me. I didn’t even know they were supposed to show up naturally until i looked at the wiki for how to get certain characters in my party.

I believe the beam of light comes from the games hard mode where you’ll get moonscorched if you stay outside for too long, I believe.. :o

Anyone care to explain why this happens? Im fairly new to those Games and currently playing the first Fear and Hunger. I dont quite get why those People turn like that?
In fear and hunger two. There an event happening from one of the god, that can turn the protagonist into monster. (I don't know much about the game but that's what I have been able to guess)
Yeah that event is from the old moon god Rher. He has ,like every old god, left this world but his traces still remains and its moonlight can scorch the body so that it is taking form of your primal form of your soul and personality. That transformation is called moonscorch and it can happen if you are exposed to this light. That is why you have limited time in the game to beat it and why there are so many monsters in the place you are.
F&H2 Termina has a different save mechanic and the moon god gives you 3 days to finish the game. You can't just save whenever you feel convenient. If you save while resting, time passes and some events happen (you can save by reading a Book Of Enlightenment, which is a very rare loot, or drawing a God of F&H sigil in specific circles throughout the map to not pass the time). In the 3rd day night, if you try to save resting, moon god "moonscorches" you and you turn into a monstrosity because you didnt finish the game before the festival ends. Oh, and all other contestants who came with the train like you will inevitably get moonscorched when you reach 3rd day night so if you don't want them to die, you must finish the game before then.

You can find all contestants (btw 2 of them are excluded) being moonscorched and fight them after a certain day and daytime.
The only non-hostile moonscorched contestant is Henryk. He will not attack you if he sees you. Instead, he actually invites you to dinner with him. You need to, so you get the keys to enter the town. But he will still trigger a fight at the dinnertable if you say anything bad about the food.
All the other moonscorched contestants will attack you on sight. You may want to avoid Valkyre (Karin) and Mastermind (The black-yellow dude) as they are extremly strong opponents.
The only way to keep other contestants from moonscorching is by saving them. Some need to be recruited, as some will simply moonscorch on day 3 evening if saved but not recruited.

From what i see it doesnt matter since Levi is inside the train.
i imagine rher's light is more penetrating than that, and it's just magnified if one stays outside possibly. though anywhere you hypothetically could hide from the moonlight, the blackness is already holed up in.
The indoors ones were probably from passing time until Day 4. The time limit is 3 days, and when it's up, you get Moonscorched.

In Maso mode, you have to stay indoors and after day 3 night, you will moonscorch.
In Fear and Hunger mode and Easy mode, you can only moonscorch after day 3 night.

Basically the game has a three day time limit and if you go over you transform and it's gane-over. However other characters besides the player will transform into these forms in the three days and you will have to fight them. Basically urging you to complete the game faster if you don't wanna deal with harder enemies

it's not really inherently a furry. pocketcat is a servant of rher and basically daan became a vessel for it because he has a blank soul, at least that's what people theorise. pocketcat is an entity that exists across generations by taking people over.

@@Bcs6Daan probably is a furry but it's not the main reason he becomes pocketcat. He, for the most part, had nothing going on for him in his life. So pocketcat takes advantage of this and constantly offere him the chance to become his vessel, which makes it easier due to Daan's blank soul.
Even in his B ending, Daan still gets haunted by pocketcat until he starts to consider taking his offer

Daan lost his family (both parents and his wife) leading to intense misery, he was suffering nonstop (also the blank soul, which are like personality traits. He is basically an empty vessel, too depressed and in pain to care what happens to his life)
Pocketcat isn't a furry but more of a monstrous being having been made, furry is a human who wears a suit. Pocketcat isn't human, as not only do the eyes glow but evident by the first game it is a beast
