  • The Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk, nicknamed "The Black Jet", is the world's first operational aircraft completely designed around stealth technology. Flown only by the United States Air Force, it is a direct descendant of the Have Blue stealth prototype program.
The F-117A was widely publicized during the Gulf War. Retirement looms on the horizon, with dates being discussed ranging from 2008 to 2018.

Saw this thing in the air once, during an airshow at Davis Monthan AFB. I didn't go that year, but I saw it flying over the city and at first I thought it was a UFO 'cause the angles of the design and the way it moved. Once I saw the tail though, no question. This is seriously the most impressive plane I've ever seen. The Blue Angels and Thunderbirds are impressive for their pilot's maneuvers, but just seeing this plane was amazing.

You are right with the shapes of the Concord and the propellers of the E-2 or C-2. The E-9A is smaller. Equipped with AN/APS-143 (V). Control over Gulf of Mexico. Can detect a person in a life raft in the water 25 miles away. The only Bombardier Dash-8 400Series in military version seems to be the DHC-8 MPA-D8.But no further indication so far.

No 12 million jobs comming out of a machine gun in a rush with a combination through the taxes.I did not remember that he had been in place for 8years, but obviously an icon in US history. Uhhh, mighty Serbia... that was completely crushed after 78 days, suffering an economic loss of 30 BILLION Dollars.

I watch once a while CNN for the news and other reports. One week ago I had the opportunity to listen to Peneta. He seems to be very calm and determined and thinking things twice over before acting. It was about two young military ladies who had been rapped at West Point/ Naval School. They were both very unhappy with the issue they had to go through, in fact, leave the school, and after several years they had got no satisfaction for her cases to be resolved. One of her was crying during the

Steve Slater (38) was on a flight from Pittsburgh to NY/JFK. He had pulled the sliding exit after he thought he had "enough".He had had a dispute with a passenger just before, that probably was it. And during the talk-show he's underlined how people were often in a bad mood. Steve first started to pull the lever that activates the emergency evac chute and slid down. On the way out the door he paused to grab a beer from the beverage cart. He then ran to the employee parking lot and drove off.

I still have this US book written in 2004/5 in front of me. It says:"Despite the deployment of fifty housand government-paid screeners since 9/11, it's still fairly easy to sneak knives, box cuttters, and even guns onto most commercial flights. But there's good news too. It's now virtually impossible to hijack a plane using an oversized carry-on bag or a set of nail clippers". Have you heard about the shortage of security guards for the opening of the Olympic Games in London?

One of the advantages is that the static display is lined up in about 5 rows, very large. That means that you can move very easily from one place to the other. There are many people, but no problem to feel comfortable wherever you go.And of course there are so many aircrafts to see. As an Âmerican you would not feel lonely, because many possibilites to talk to USAF crews. A lot of space also along the runways. You are not far away to be able to touch the aircrafts while taking off/landing.

First deployed in 1999. Consists of up to 40 dispensers, each containing 6 mines.

Yes, as said before, I have asked an Orion crew member this year if they could recover them. But he said they are flying to far away form the coast and a helicopter would run out of fuel. But I am sure that recovering bouys would be part of the work to be fullfilled to get back to transparent blue/green water and forget the brown. Of course a worldwide problem, not only for the US Navy. In a way it would be an advantage to have either a UAV or mini-helicopter onboard of the Orions to recover

I have to answer the same as before. Maybe for supplies out of any shooting zone. In fact no chance against enemy fire and make it heavier would be on a way towards a helicopter. But in a way the canopy must be very resistant. Is added the fact that this probably happens totally unexpectidly, so that you may not hold you head in the best upright position. The helmet must also be strong but I wonder if some fighter pilots have half broken their neck during this maneuvre?

That leaves a way open to "organize" some big noise at a place where people have intentions to become violent and start some sort of revolution. Probably a way to stay away from creating any type of damage and killing someone. And of course keep the pressure to dissuade the enemy. The massive precision guided "bunker buster bombs" are also

Also glad for the F-16. A-10 might be less useful, as the tank period seems to be over. I have never said propeller should be used on jets (obviously a disadvantage), but like the US pilot said, the A-10 has to be flown in the different way.

If you have a look at the F-22 crash on Nov 16th, 2010, you get the impression that the pilot tried to do whatever was possible, although the aircraft seemed to be out of control for several reasons. I do not think that the pilot did not react quickly enough, as reported by the AIB. The accident happened after a return-to-base portion of the sortie. It was part of a three-ship night opposed surface attack tactic training mission. The data show that partial pressure to oxygen mask had stopped.

Still their property.US arrival in the 70s.Gave me the chance to have a look at the map for this region. In the way it could be interesting for Africa to have a channel crossing the conti-

The B-1 Lancer however did not take over this type of powerplant. Have also seen some documentation about the Russian Tu-160 Blackjack, the heaviest existing bomber nowadays.More than 10tons armament than the B-52 at Mach 2.22. Not bad! (map bottom with side scan sonar; inspect insides of water supply tunnels for large cities; sensors to mesure water flow, sality, temperatures, depth and others). Max feet 300ft - battery 12hrs.Looks like a large missile with a small propeller at the rear. But could be developped into a military variant. Slightly larger, more autonomous and armament.

I think the best conclusion comes from the Pan Am co-pilot at that time (among the 54-61 survivors) and clearly underlines that in these kind of situations in no way you to have to act in a rush. And I think this absolutely right and this has not been respected by the control tower on several occasions + by the first one to divert to "Los Rodos".

The Harrier GR9 was expected to remain in service until 2018. In Nov 2011 the 72 Harrier of the RAF have been sold to the USMC for US$ 180 million (to be used as source components for the AV-8B. It is a personal point of view, but I think the GR9 should have been updated and tested into a GR11 variant, including more powerfull engines, more payload, improved avionics and a strenghtened frame. To keep 2 of them for tests would not have meant a financial disaster.

@TheDarkLegacy1997 - You are certainly also right about the afterburners and the stealth protection. To keep the plan in service it would be interesting to find a new stealth technology which is completely different from the one used on F-22 and B-2 and get reliable results. And also find new directions and raise the interest. I just came accross the problems met in 1965 by the E-2A Hawkeye. Production cancelled after 59 aircrafts built. (computer reliability). Of course a long time backwards.

all programmes, including elements of the carrier strike programme had to be updated to a valid appreciation of costs and that risks were properly managed. Military analysts believe that recent progress in testing with F-35B and problems dogging the F-35C could prompt the UK to revert to the B model. This decision would help the UK to enter in service earlier than with the F-35C, and also reducing the current capability gap that. has been left by axing the Harrier fleet in 2010.

I wonder if nowadays a carrier or an assault ship could have one onboard for an eventual use? Of course the wings would need to be folded. Can be loaded on the water. I ignore if a carrier would have a crane which could be operated from the side of the hull. Would also requiere a platform coming out of the hull. Probably more interesting on an assault ship, although the
