Informative tutorial, thank you. I just got a 456 and I think it is missing a few o-rings. My pen leaks at the feed-body interface. I can’t blame PenBBS for that; I may have lost them in disassembling the pen without adult guidance 😅. I already found an o-ring inside my notebook on the nib test page… I need to order the parts kit (and I wish I had done so with my pen order).
An hour later: found another missing o-ring, the one that goes on the section. The other one I found, that I had on the section, actually goes on the feed housing. Now maybe it will stop leaking like a sieve, which it didn’t before I took ilt apart.
If I were to take off rubber stopper/ washer on end of plunger would I have to keep on unscrewing end cap to allow ink flow. Now I just leave mine unscrewed all the time , it looks kinda wonky. Not worried about air preasure leakage as I have been on a plane twice in my life. Thank for vid will Be cleaning mine soon.
Thanks, Alan. Don't know if you are still checking comments to this video, but my 456 now leaks badly into the piston knob, and I really want to repair this because I love the pen. Would that involve the step you alluded to but saved for a future video? Thanks!
Thanks for your assembling/disassembling guide and filler method, very interesting. I bought a 456 with EF nib, but It seem too scratchy and not so smooth as I expected... Ok, it is an extra-fine nib and it is surely different from the Penbbs fine nib, but I am a little disappointed.
Alan, hope you have a peaceful New Year and get back to producing vid’s soon: miss your monthly What I Ink pens in use vid’s - nobody else comes close: please don’t retire too soon!:)
Thank you for a wonderful video. I always enjoy watching your videos, as they are a wealth of information. Hope you're doing well. Take care.
Very good demo in terms of how to maintain and fill one of these pens. Thanks for that.
I have the wing sun vac filler and look forward to purchasing the Pen bbs after seeing your presentation. Thank you.

help!, Alan: should I go for Pilot 742 or 743?(prefer convertor over piston: easier to clean); ps, please don’t retire: not ready for you to go!:)
Don't worry, I'm still here.
Frankly, you could not go wrong with either.
I know, not helpful...:)
@@WhatIInk thank you, my friend: glad you’re ok - just post vid’s when convenient:)

It would appear to.
I guess I need to make that follow up video pretty soon!
Where'd you get those nylon tip pliars? Look like they'd be handy.
They can be bought at various online sites. They are used in the jewelry-making process.

These are easy to smooth yourself. Give it a try.
@@WhatIInk yes, I think I could try a different setting using some guide.
