  • This is a video to show you how to fix your air door actuator if your heater air conditioning vents are not working correctly. This is only if it's not blowing out the correct then not the temperature. Also has some informative information and Extras. Feel free to comment or ask questions hope this helps. Also watch to the end so you can see some information about when you put the new one back in. Also about the key in case you have interest in that. Thanks for watching

    This video was great and easy to follow. I didn’t order the part yet so I used two zip ties and fastened the lever in the down position. Yay AC!!! It’s 98 degrees in Texas.

    Thanks for this! Mechanic wanted over $500 for this and god knows what the dealer would have charged me. My old IS300 has had this problem for years and I just never dealt with it and didn't think it was a DIY option. Great video, interesting, informative, hands on, natural, you should do more.

    Thanks so much for this. Came in handy and was able to fix my AC which wasnt blowing to the chest area.
    Some things id like to add: if you have a loud, ratcheting sound coming from the AC acuator when you press the Vent Direction Button, the problem could be a damaged gear, or as in my case, a gap between the tiny motor and the spiral gear it attaches to. I pushed the spiral gear towards the motor as far as it would go, and thia closed the gap and solved my entire problem without having to buy a new acuator.
    I also don't think you lostna screw in yoir video OP. Remember that one of those screws isnused to secure both the foot vent and the acuator.
    Thanks again

    Hey Chrystian T.(hope I got spelling correct there) Big Help btw. First video was yours here when looking for the problem and your video nailed it! 👍
    I didn't know what the problem was for weeks and it would drive me CRAZY and be embarrassing pulling in and out of markets. You would hear a loud noise which turned out to be the motor in your video being blocked while trying to turn connecting gears which as you mentioned moves the vent doors. The problem and annoyance of that motor getting hung up like that has got to have Lexus "geniuses" kicking themselves and embarrassed. So many connections off one motor im surprise didn't happen sooner. I've had motorized toy cars as a kid that were designed with more forward thought.
    Anyway, thanks again and cheers!

    I used this video as a reference to replace the below part, bought from amazon. The damper was not moving to allow the air to flow out the middle vents on my 2003 Lexus Rx 300. Total repair time was about an hour going slow and methodically. The screw in the back out of camera view; you have to get on your back on the floor and go slow. Otherwise it was easy. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XXPM6B7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 $28 bucks!!!

    Hi.Christian. Thanks for all the information. Can you please post the ebay link or name of the company you used for the key replacement? Btw, thanks for the actuator video. I only wished I saw it 2 days ago. Just paid Lexus $245 for the part alone. ugh! So unheard for me to do since everything else on/in my car (headlights, mats, wipers, door control, steering wheel, trim, etc. were all upgraded/replaced through purchases on Amazon, Ebay or local scrap yards). Unfortunately, I took the word of two local mechanics indicating that the actuator could only be bought from Lexus. Again thanks for taking the time to create the video. Lesson learned. I'm pretty handy so will attempt to change it myself because of you. ;-)

    2002 GS300 has carpet going up the side, covering the place where the air door is .... not clear how to remove the carpet. It seems to be held in with clips somewhere... Taking out the glovebox is just the same.

    • @comment8767
      @comment8767 3 роки тому

      Figured this out myself -- On the GS300 it is not necessary to take out the lower panel ... just take out the glovebox and CD player .... the air door will be accessible from there ...
      But there was another problem .... the linkage/cam that the actuator door moves is made out of cheap plastic, and looks gnarly and messed up ... although it still seems to work. Would like to replace it, but I can't find the part and I cant figure out how to detach it for replacement.
