  • Flapping tremors(aka ASTERIXIS):A type of negative myoclonus,seen in liver failure,respiratory failure etc, is a flap like movement of the hands on extending the extended arm.This occurs due to the brief loss of tone in extensors followed by gain of posture back to its original level(Negative myoclonus).

    Just saw this for the first time in the ED. Much more subtle than what I expected from reading about it.

      If its very subtle , ask the patient to hold inflated BP cuff steadily - due to negative myoclonus ( asterixis ) number on the dial will be keep changing.
