I have always been interested in reading about Miyamoto Musashi, and one of my favourite writers is Junichiro Tanezaki, a sort of Japanese Honore de Balzac. I have recently started to learn Japanese because of these interests, and came across a quote by Miyamoto Musashi that really resonated with me, as i have always had a problem with being too cowardly especially in career, abd with women), and this quote is so INCREADIBLY DEEP that it helps my biggest problems of laziness, procrastination and lack of courage:
"When you want to win in Battle, you must fight as if you are ALREADY dead." - Miyamoto Musashi -.

I think the best thing I did this year was invest in myself by joining a time management course. Not only did my coach have a great program, community and system, but the level of accountability, and having someone there every week on coaching calls that actually walked the talk and knew what we were going through really helped me. Those 8 weeks have saved me years and years to come. I paid for speed and urgency and it immediately paid off, and videos like these just help me add more reinforcement to my existing structure! Thank you Ruri!

There is an anonymous saying: “It’s not happiness that brings us gratitude. It’s gratitude that brings us happiness.“
If you look around yourself right now (or look within) listen for a surge of gratitude. Or even a little trickle. Breathe in. Let your shoulders drop as you exhale. When it comes to you, note it here.

To face challenges and get out of comfort zone does not have to be a sudden change. The bigger the change, the more resistant you are. You can start with a fraction of the work and gradually get yourself into it, the important thing being the fact that you start to take action and are aware of your agency. There is a certain benefit for procrastination and that is giving yourself time to expand and deepen the quality of your thoughts and plan, but start promptly and take it in steady pace, allowing some kind of "regulated procrastination". Starting things early will allow you time for such procrastination.

Improvement requires implementation. "An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory." There are so many ideas out there telling us what is good or what is better, but you don't know until you experience it yourself, until you're able to test it out, applying it to something real in your life. This is essential to Kaizen.

This is a great video. I really like Makoto, because reflecting with myself helps me understand what I am putting off and why. I want to learn Japanese(signed up for mochomochi) and I have been putting off studying it. I think it's because I am being challenged at the level I'm at and maybe I'm afraid to fail memorizing things quickly. But failure is okay, I should continue to work at my goals. Thanks for this video Ruri.

Great video! A lot of what you say falls under the philosophy of Stoicism. I highly recommend reading “Discipline is Destiny” by Ryan Holiday. He mentions a master swordsman practicing drawing his sword two thousand times a day and also something closely related to Jūnzai which is to “achieve formlessness.” Change is the only constant and it’s not good to be rigid in your methods. Thanks for the video, Ruri! 😊

I have OCD with my honesty and a strong ability in diplomacy as a result. Additionally I would like to help you with the knowledge that perseverance is not pronounced in the Japanese fashion it is more like per, sev, erence this is about the only way I can say a big thank you for your help in my growth education. think about this, you are in the middle of nowhere with your car and a storm comes and if you try to out run it, the storm will keep chasing you, even reach you and you will last in the storm for a very long time, but if you drive into it, you will pass it quickly. So is always better to do the things you don't want to do faster, the faster you do them the least the pain will last and once you are doing them you will realize there was no real reason why to avoid them in the first place. And if this does not happen then you have to do a deeper exploration of yourself and identify what emotions, what memories were triggered by that task that made you avoid it.
