The texture flickering is due to the game not having proper mipmap implementation. See if you can change that.
Mipmaps and anisotropic filtering are the ideal solution, yeah

Okay I'm not even a huge Simpsons fan nor have I ever played Hit and Run but this project is seriously so impressive. I'm blown away by how above and beyond you've gone for it. I really really hope this is one of the fan projects out there that actually gets finished because the amount of work and passion you've put in deserves to be seen through all the way.
I agree, never played Hit and Run but this dude got me hyped for a remaster.
I'm in the same boat, never really watched the show and I've never played the game, but these status updates are impressive. You can tell this is a passion project and not just something done for clout.
Someone already mentioned that the texture flicker is due to mipmaping issues but I wanted to note that the reason why the old textures didn't flicker is probably because they were soft/blurry. I also want to mention that certain texture formats have the low resolution images stored in the file directly to be used for mipmapping and you might want to look into that to see if the game uses something similar for it's own textures. Meaning you might have to make downscaled versions of your textures manually. Some art software can automate that for you.

Your animation at 6:25 looks amazing!!
The only thing I would recommend is to lessen the amount that you're zooming in on the characters vs the background.
In the original, the paralax between the characters and the background is pretty subtle. Notice how the wall thats immediatly to the left of Bart mostly retains the same distance from his head. Wheras, in your animation, as Bart grows, his head noticeably gets closer to that wall.

It's all impressive stuff, but the animations will always be the parts that floor me. The new versions with the longer held expressions feel almost indistinguishable from the show. Good work as always!

I think the zoom in with Bart and Apu in that museum scene looks a bit weird; I think because the characters are zooming in at a different rate/speed than the background is. So maybe that might worth looking at tweaking? Otherwise, excellent stuff in this video! Always excited to see your progress updates! :D

I'm honestly baffled not only how quickly you're making leaps of progress, but just how incredible each update is. You always make the right decisions that make the game as close to the original vision as possible (unlike another certain remake of this game), and even improving on older animations that already looked leagues better than the originals.
Keep up the incredible work, I hope to play it one day when it's finished.

About the flickering of textures, it might be worth looking into texture filtering and mip-mapping, if the engine finds itself capable of that.

-I don't think the stained glass windows should have dark outlines.
-The colored outlines on the environments will look much better.
-For the shadows on the animation, you're going to want smaller, less blurry ones. Check actual shadows on real animation cels for reference.
The author draws 2D textures like in the Simpsons series itself, and in The Simpsons there is a dark outline near the stained glass window.

I think the biggest uptick in quality you could possible achieve going forward is looking into some more extensive compositing processes for the animation. Theres a lot of techniques out there you could employ to emulate the cel-animated era closer, that would bump this whole project from S to S++!

So I dunno if this is something you're planning on changing later but I think Homer's fingers being slightly bent would look better and more natural. Look at your hands when they are completely relaxed, they will almost look like you're holding an invisible softball.

imo during the part where the camera moves forward in the apu & bart cutscene, the characters move a bit too much towards the camera compared to the background, so instead of it just looking like the camera moves forward it looks like the characters are sliding forward as well - the parallax effect feels a bit overexaggerated
also as for the comic guy car stickers, they were shown in S10E10 during the first few minutes when they go to the car wash

One way you could solve the flickering problem outside of complex shaders is by having two different textures, one for close range where all the lines and details are maintained, and one for long distance which is just a solid colour, then fade into the high-detailed one as you approach the model.
A very hacky solution which you can notice a lot in games of the PS2 era.
La mona lisa se ve algo rara. Creo que se debe a que el delineado está mal. La parte oscura de la derecha (con otro color al de su ropa) no es parte de su ropa, es algo que hay detrás, por lo que el delineado debería ir en la ropa. El pelo debería tener un delineado propio y no seguir el mismo de la ropa aunque tengan un color similar (son objetos distintos). Y a ambos brazos les falta un delineado por debajo (lo mismo, aunque su ropa siga por ahí, se separan las formas).

Looking great! One small note on the Apu turn. I would recommend adjusting Apu's pupil on the last frame. Since he's looking at Bart, the pupil should be in line with Bart's, a little bit lower. Right now if you draw a line from the back of the eyeball, through his pupil, it lands close to Bart's hair than his eye. Also generally in a profile view, if the character is looking directly next to themselves, we'd want to pupil on the very edge of the eyeball. I drew a sketch, I can send you if you'd like.
Oh also in that scene, I would zoom the BG a bit more. To the naked eye, it doesn't look like it's moving at all, and looking side by side, I wanna say the CG one zooms a little bit more. Even if not, you may want to over shoot it, since the CG camera has the benefit of a slight perspective shift with the zoom, that a 2D static background can't have.

Don't you think that the shadows in Apu and Bart scene are wrong?
Bart has shadow on the left and Apu on the right, depending on where the light source is, it doesn't make sense
I think you should put those out of bounds paintings in the Stone Cutters Lodge. Because yeah, it does give it more variety
one suggestion for the cutscene, when apu gasps, i think it would look cool if you added it on bart too. Besides that, everything else looks so good and i'm loving every part of it 💯
technically you could also make a re-texture mod for the PS2 version using PCSX2, a PS2 game emulator when comes to those lights in the tunnel
while the cutscenes wouldn't work i think, the textures would look nice

Regarding the light shaft/god rays in the stonecutters tunnel: Back in the day, to get god rays you would simply place a long plane that extends from the window toward whatever direction you need it to. Then you just UV it to an emissive gradient texture that’s brightest at the light source and transparent at the other end.
It’s just that easy! :)

The absolute tenacity and dedication to this project is extremely impressive. One teeny tiny suggestion, which might actually be a just-me thing is, I feel like the zig-zag of hair on the back of Homer's head is a little more prominent than it is in the show. I dunno if it's possible to thin it out or lighten it but it might look a bit better if so.
Maybe adding a bit of unnoticeable distance fog can help with that but your idea is a lot better. The end result in both cases matter.

You know in a way I feel like Marge's seductive expression should last through the whole scene because it feels odd that it would stop at any point since that's the end of the scene and maybe the 3d model didn't convey her expression well enough. Just feels like it might be better if it lasts the whole time she's saying her line.

You could change the colour of the lines so its less noticeable, or you could add mipmapping so it becomes less of an issue altogether. mipmapping works together with antialiasing to get a better effect
With Mona Lisa remember: smile is important! 😄 And can you give little bit thicker black lines to the characters? You can make a poll. And I think this is a thing you should think about during development, to make the black outlines of everything in consistent thickness (I know it's not easy...). 6:37 characters still cast shadow. Of course you have my like and I think developers should take an example from you, this is how remakes should be made - ask people what they want... ♥
I can already hear Disneys lawyers writing up a cease and desist.

El problema de las líneas se da porque la imagen se está escalando las texturas con nearest neighbour, y se arreglaría añadiendo un filtro de texturas con bilinear filtering. Ahora, esta suele ser una opción que traen los juegos, no tengo ni idea de si se puede modear.
Casi todo se puede en teoría, pero hay que saber de ingeniería inversa y programación. Cosas como el efecto roto de la iluminación volumétrica (si así se llama) podría ser tanto por código como por archivos del juego. Con algo de suerte se podría copiar algún archivo de la versión de PS2, aunque a veces tienen ciertas diferencias y podría ser necesario adaptarlos primero

Both have been depicted in the actual show, so you could prob go off of that to be more show-accurate.
Yes, those are the original paintings but with the Simpsons-style heads and hands, I really don't know why they didn't paint the rest of the painting.
I did not remember that those paintings were in the series, I will look for it and if it looks better I will draw them as in the series.
