Hope you guys enjoyed a bit of a different topic! Always wanted to get into some Zelda videos. Sorry about the slight audio cut out at 22:26, the line here is meant to be: "with some sort of energy, or power, emitting from him." I make up for it at 31:30 though ;) Apologies for my sloppiness :(
The SOS segments in each song is a detail I would of never picked up. That’s honestly such an amazing thing for them to put in. It really goes to show just how much thought goes into every aspect of creating a game.
Ngl, the divine beast Morse code discovery will never not fuck me up. Like the damn robots are crying out for assistance that never came and now the ghosts (and possibly reanimated champion bodies, depending on who you ask) are stuck inside them. Crazy.
It's actually become difficult to avoid spoilers these last few days! I just want to wake up in the world and have a fresh, the trailers were enough for me
You talking about spoilers for the new one coming out? Nothings been spoiled as far as I know.... All information is purely from a trailers standpoint.
@@TerminalM193 That's the big thing though, I've been avoiding the trailers too since I don't know if I want anything revealed, trying to go in as clean slate as possible.

Breath of the wild was the first zelda game I ever played, I'm so hyped for Tears of the Kingdom! The sos in the divine beasts soundtracks is one of the coolest details about the soundtracks, thank you for amplifying it so it was easier to hear!
With skyward sword and ocarina of time both being playable (with a few other zelda games) on switch now I'd really recommend a play through of them because skyward sword is the first link and zelda before the curse happened and ocarina is the second game in the timeline. After that is where all the zelda timeliness split because ocarina of time has 3 different implied endings. Plus they're good games
I heard that a lot of the developers who worked on breath of the wild and tears of the Kingdom also worked on skyward sword, so I think that a lot of us would get a lot of enjoyment out of that game! I'm glad they re-released it on the switch
my favorite thing about the talus song is the pickaxes continuing through out the song which implies the miners just continued to mine the talus while it was attacking them 💀
I think all geographical differences can just be boiled down to Gorons just…picking up entire landmasses and moving them great distances. Seems like a thing they’d do for sport or to show off.
Hahaha Also the games are literally called the “Legend” of Zelda, so maybe right now the only games that are literal truth are Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. This is communicated through the nods and references (map names etc) without being LITERALLY the same. That’s how I interpret it anyway.
Haha, I was trying to make my voice sound a bit more natural when recording this one. After a lot of struggling and being unhappy with how I sounded, went straight back to the fake David Attenborough presenter 😅
at 19:13, that quote says that there has not been another male leader. that means males have still been born since ganondorf. i don’t think that the hero in the tapestry is a gerudo, but i thought it was worth correcting to avoid any confusion.
39:48 The Last King of Hyrule theme is unmistakably from Link to the Past music in the royal castle. Love the musical breakdown and was blown away by the hidden Morse code.
Yeah a darker version is also I played inside Hyrule Castle, and in certain areas is bounced between that and Zelda’s Lullaby from Ocarina which is certainly a musical reference to Zelda holding back Calamity Ganon.
Hey, brilliant video. Like not only is the content itself good but you've presented an iceberg in a super interesting way, and you absolutely nailed the transitions where these videos normally fail for me
*stumbles to see where aoc fits on the ice berg- gets told its not canon* totk is gonna make it canon. All the champions need to do is mention their thousands of kills against bokos ;3;
Tears of the Kingdom could end up making aspects of it canon but I doubt they will make it all canon as it will be hard to properly tie it in with Breath of the wild
@natiscool it should be easy. Age of calamity only touches botw twice and that's zelda with the triforce(crazy ideas, but likely) making her wish to save everyone, and the 4 champions of botw saying they experienced war and got to fight alongside their ancestors. It's not that hard, it'd be sooo simple. Especially knowing the zelda team worked closely with KT to write aoc story to make it fit so easily with botw memories.
I hope they do something with the forgotten temple and give it more lore and function it was so interesting to discover etc Honestly the prophecy was very vague and it might very well be about mummy ganondorf instead of the shieka tech, maybe they’ll do something about it in totk
Exactly! That's when I started to get disappointed with BoTW. I kept finding all these cool locations but all they were was eye candy. I absolutely would have been fine with that as a kid but I've been spoiled by games giving interiors and treasures. Once you complete the Divine Beasts, there's nothing much left other than finding interesting things to look at.
It’s world building and environmental storytelling. This is the same reason the cantina scene in Star Wars was so impactful because it lets your mind go wild instead of handing it to you. Obi-Wan mention of a Clone War in A New Hope set imaginations running wild, but now it’s simply a reference to a TV Show and mediocre movie.
I mightve missed him saying it in the video, so correct me if I'm wrong. But the entrance to the Great Plateau that was blocked off by rubble and such, that all looks eerily similar to the gates of Hyrule Castle Town. Just remove the layers of earth and make the Plateau more flush with the rest of Hyrule, and its quite possible. Even directly outside, it looks like remnants of a moat that used to flow through it
Pj 1 second ago I mean game developer-wise it would make sense to reuse assets too for memory sake. I’ve noticed it somewhat throughout the game. Stairways reused just flipped, structures built of mirrored assets, it’s pretty amazing actually. It’s a masterclass in using the low performance of the Switch.
Breath of the wild doesn’t have to take place on any particular timeline. It’s the inevitable outcome that’s destined to happen from the endless loop that is demises curse
Actually, Links Father is a knight, so he would be nobility. A Lord. In a medieval society, his father most like came from a noble family. It was exceedingly rare for people to be knighted in adulthood. You’d have to be a page and a squire first. How ever, the Hateno house could have been his family home. His father might have been an ambassador in Zora which would explain his familiarity, they’d have been there a year or two.
listened in the background while working, very nice vid. had some slight editing details that stood out that could use some work, but enjoyed listening to this! was surprised how few views this had, part of why I'm commenting lol.
31:07 What's funny to me is that I think that most of those Zonai theories were correct at the time. Only, Nintendo saw how interested people were in them and fleshed them out a lot more in TotK. But when they did that they didn't actually build on what they established, but retconned all of it away. Being native to Faron? Nope, they're from the sky now. War-like? Nope, they seemed completely uninterested in conflict until Ganondorf started massacring people. And even their architecture has changed in Tears. They didn't remove the ruins but all of the new stuff is completely different leading me to think that the only explanation for this retcon is the Hylians conflating two lost peoples. That or the reason that the Zonai died out is because of their war-like nature and the few that remained learned from their mistakes.
Holy *beep*! At 41:35 hold your phone (or famicom screen for we Ancients) at arm's length... the "house" on our left side of the screen looks like a Kirby character... or maybe a boss from Final Fantasy X. (Is that the one with the cactuars? And dodging 1000 lightning strikes in a row?) I send love out to all
Breath of the Wild has such a great conceit: it’s the Adult Link Timeline WRIT LARGE! You think SEVEN years was bad for Hyrule, let’s show you what 100 years of this darkness can do
From what I did watch, I really enjoyed your breakdown! I have a neurodivergent issue that makes certain noises frustrating to me, like nails on a chalkboard feeling (needed to preface it before what I say next so you can understand I'm not being an ass lol). Many commentary creators try using odd inflections at the end of every sentence like they're using their own version of a "narrator voice". It is unneeded & sounds negative towards people like me...... Since today's tech is much more clear then many decades prior, during that time, the use of a "narrator voice" was needed (even news channels still utilize a subset of this dialectical approach). Honestly, you have a good voice for commentary, just drop the rhythmic inflections at the end of a spoken sentence. Literally talk natural -- your voice sounded so much more clean, enjoyable, & professional when you did not use the "narrator voice". Instead of inflections, cut the end word short, give a short pause, then continue. I know there are other people like me out there, who avoid the contrived "narrator voice" so just throwing out an option to consider! 😊
Thanks for this brandiwolfe583, and you are definitely not alone with that concern! It's something I'm really trying to work on but I am definitely struggling with it, I'll definitely be trying some of your suggestions here!
In terms of Tarrey Town: “ Ichikara Village From いちから (Ichikara), "from scratch".” So any meaning of Tarrey Town would’ve been introduced by translators.
If the time travel in Hyrule Warriors didn't save the champions or Roam would it still be considered not canon? Those only seem like the biggest things of the timeline differences to make it not canon.
Slowly making my way through botw in the weirdest ways and I haven’t met Hudson yet but I already hate him… lil bastard knows I’m a sucker that’ll do EVERY side quest 😤 Hudson? Lovable friendly character?? Couldn’t be possible, I’ve already bought into the conspiracy
17:14 this theory is also terrible even without TotK existing to disprove it. Zelda does not look like a hylian in that picture either, she looks like an Octorok with a wig on. I always thought the art-style just made it look weird. Now with the Tears of the Kingdom ancient hero suit it seems that the hero was some other creature. Some people think he looks like a Zonai but to me he seems like a giant Picori/Minish. They're the only things with that kind of tail besides beast Ganon.
Nope, he’s from the Kokiri forest, BOTW is from the child link timeline, where was child link from? Also, Hetano is where he can buy a house, it’s no necessarily his.
Many of these theories are based on the assumption that Nintendo has Fromsoft levels to attention to detail. I feel like Nintendo plays way more fast and loose with their symbolism. A spiral is very likely just a spiral and not a connection to another culture that used spirals.
