Would you recommend this for a travel/airport carry on style bag that would complement a suitcase?

There are not enough pockets like bandit. The side pocket is useless . If you can not secure your item.

thanks for the review. is the bottom of the bag padded? i find a lot of bags with padded laptop sleeves aren't padded on the bottom.

If I recall, it was thicker than the rest of the bag, but not really padded… I do t have the bag anymore, or I would give you better feedback. Sorry!

Lower price doesn't hurt but it's simply too light on features. You can get similarly under-specced packs elsewhere for considerably less. Meh.
