You definitely should keep this jacket. It fits great. I don’t think it’s too long at all. The Hercules does look long on some people as you mention, but this looks pretty good. It matches those boots so well and fits so well you should keep it.
I have actually already sold this one. It does look really good, but did not fit me well enough. The guy who ended up with it suits it much better than I do!
Thanks for the review! IMO Toy's McCoy is up there too. I feel their leather jackets are at least on par if not better than the RC ones, and their quality is usually good and consistent. Though I'd prefer the look of RC's aniline finished leather and patterns, I do have encountered issues with their quality control🥲 And imo both TM and RC's A-2s are a lot better than the current standard model from the real McCoy's, which is priced higher.
I’ve been hearing that lately that a2’s have an old man vibe to them and as a guy in my 50’s. That is how I have felt for a long time. But being in my 50’s, I’ve seen a lot of guys in my age group that have been wearing these jackets for 30 yrs. You being a young man, you can definitely pull it off lol.. I will say after seeing how good you look in that jacket has me now looking for one! I normally wear the cross zip hooch hauler and an aero Rockafella.
I think part of the issue with the A2 is that it's not a very flattering pattern. The small shoulders and blouse middle can make you look like you have a gut even if you don't have one. I think that's partly why they aren't great for older guys. Your jacket choices sound fantastic!
Guess I am most likely going to be getting this crazy red one 😂 thanks for posting this Jake. I can attest the quality on this is definitely the same a Freewheelers minus a few bells and whistles. Also definitely agree with the people who say Thedi construction quality is as good. I was astonished by how perfect my shearling vest is. All the best and here's to many more videos down the pipeline 🍻
It fits you better than it fit me! Yeah I saw and tried on some Thedis in person recently and the quality was indeed excellent. I saw no flaws. Great patterns as well.
I think besides the length (which is minimal) it fits like they did back in WW2. S/be a bit tight not lose and baggy. I think it looks great. I’d buy one.
Great review! Looking to get a Hercules model this year if it fits well. I also have an issue with longer jackets, but it's not excessively long so I'll see how it pans out when I try it on! Keen to see you do a review of the Sportclad you just picked up as well!
Thanks! Love the Hercules model. Long jackets are sort of the bane of my existence, but I kind of embraced it with the Sportclad. Those early-mid century half belts are meant to fit like that, so I just have to go with it.
Freaking killer - one of the only A2s I've ever actually liked. I have hated them since I was a kid cuz of the baggy mall versions you see everywhere hahaha - this one rocks though. My dad had a Pierre Cardin one that was hideous LOL Glad you threw this out on UA-cam.
The presidential look definitely has at least partly damaged the reputation of the A2 jacket sadly. I still want another one, despite this one being a little small on me.
Awesome Review. Looking to add an A2 to my current rainbow country collection of Hercules and G-1. In your opinion, are the red silk A2s worth it? or am i better off with regular A2.
The red silk liner is really cool and does feel unique. However, it's not wildly different. I would definitely put leather and of course pattern and fit as higher priorities than the liner. It's a nice bonus, but don't choose an otherwise worse jacket just for that.
Looks good. Where is a good place to find used Japanese jackets? And of all the Japanese leather jacket brands, which one do you think is the best in terms of quality?
Any opinion on the satchel and Paige leather jackets? I’ve been trying to get a new leather jacket after I got my schott 530 but I don’t know if I want to commit to Japanese leather jacket money lol.
They don't impress me. You don't have to go Japanese. All of my best jackets were $500 or less. Going used or vintage can get you amazing stuff for reasonable prices.
This is how the jacket arrived, but it was used. I think it may have been long on the previous owner. Either way, the arm creasing is usually considered to be desirable
i am just getting into the leather jacket world. i bought a schott cafe racer 530 in brown and like it so far. did i make a good choice? is Y2 Leather a good japanese leather jacket maker? thanks!!@@almostvintagestyle
field, double helix works and himel jackets are the top quality jacket companies in my collection.
Very nice!

Yes, you're right. Toys McCoys is underrated. They live in RMC's shadow over here in the west, but deserve better than that.

Thanks! Yeah the shoulder width was the biggest issue for me on this one
I would love to have this red color! But unfortunately not that size…
They do pop up once in a while on yahoo auctions japan!

Can you put a link for mushmans? or similar sites?
I believe it's just mushmans . jp
Good review!
Thanks very much!
where to buy?
Mushmans, mcfly, and mirror ball sell them in Japan. You csn also buy on yahoo auctions jp
Any other shop can get them in Tokyo besides mushmans?
why is there so much slack in the arms? is it supposed to look so crumpled up and long ?
