As a previous job was a marine engineer for 15 years and not having really tuned anything, starting my own ep3 project it's great to see videos of a technical nature with in depth explanations of specific areas and not just all flat out dyno runs like some on UA-cam. Keep up the great work lads
Obviously it's not going increase power. There is no logical reason why it would do either. It's got nothing to do with the induction or combustion process. Zero Gains, Just beefing up the oil system a little for cars that are driven hard.
While it may not increase engine power (via combustion process), it decrease wasted energy (to spin the huge balance shaft) so technically, yes it increase HP at the wheel (in average of 5-8 WHP). This is the logical answer, lol. @@F4Insight-uq6nt
I had a balanceshaft delete kit on my Seat Leon cupra 1p. I don't know if it made extra power. The thing i noticed is that the car boked by accelerating in a high gear (5th or 6th) when the engine was under 1600rpm. By these engines the problem is that the balanceshaft sometimes brakes with engine failure as result. Verry informative this. Thanks :) Greetz from Holland.
Savage! Its good to see that it is some improvement there! There is the tegiwa sump that doesn't require the fd2 pump as far as I remember, is that sump not as good as clockwise?
Looking at getting the same work done on are fn2 ( oil pump, baffled sump, timing chain) as we do a few track day, what is a rough price the work and part's cheers John
Sorry I'm not on Facebook, I have to try to pop in some time. I would have come to mallory park but the following week we have booked up Snetterton, have a great day at mallory john 1
If only this k20z4 swap can go into my dc2 with that weird shifter on the transmission would be grand( any help would be appreciated) grateful for this video!!! Cheers🎉
@luqmankhan8752 There are lots of variables. Some k20s like to drink oil thankfully mine doesnt.. yet. I dont run a baffled sump but I do check the oil after every track session and always carry oil. I try to keep the oil at maximum on the dipstick. I use a "semislick" track tyre but it's not the most aggressive tyre. If I was to start using a more aggressive true semi slick I would probably.get a baffled sump. For the average joe on a road tyre doing the odd track day just making sure that the oil is at a a good level after each session should suffice.

Love the videos guys ive learned loads and keep up the great work . I've just bought a fn2 2 month ago and had to fit a clutch , driveshaft, gearbox seal and 3rd synchro since then so I'm a bit gutted but for some reason i still love it like a psyco child . Can I ask what's a reasonable price to have the chain and guides swapped I don't need stinging again and you guys know your stuff , thanks
@Scotree82 how much did that work cost you as I think I need the same bits done to mine which although I also recently purchased and is fairly low mileage at 77000. I’m having some difficulty getting into 3rd sometimes and just generally hard to change gears until really warm. Any help would be much appreciated
I’m looking to fit a baffled sump to my FN2. Does the Spoon one require other mods as I’m keen to keep mine as stock as I can? Perhaps I could give you a call after tomorrow mornings live feed and get her booked in?
Hello from Bulgaria , I've been thinking about doing the balance shaft delete on my FN2. My question is , is it necessary to add the baffle sump or I can run without it ? The car will be going to tracks not that often maybe 2-3 times a year , it will be mainly daily driven.
@@DynodazeHondaTuners Hey guys! I finally fitted the FD2 oil pump , but my car started rattling at cold starts and I think its the oil. I used to run 5w40 oil and car rattled from time to time , but know for a week almost every cold star it rattles. I changed the oil to 5w30. Can the problem be the oil or the oil pump not making pressure on time. Thanks in advance
I've been told by adding the oil pump mod, you're able to rev it to 9000rpm instead of 8500rpm, is this true? I old ep3r with intake, header, catback and tune revved out to 9000rpm while my current fn2r with the same bolt ons is only going to 8500rpm
8600’is were we like it, however look at any graph you have and if it’s not continuing to make power past 8600 there’s no point revving it out that far
@DynodazeHondaTuners I agree with you there, no point in revving it out if power falls over, I do believe the jap spec ep3r had slightly more aggressive cams than the UK delivered one. Whatever it may be that's where my tuner left it for me, same tuner that also left the limiter at 8500con my current fn2

Nice to see what work goes into these mods and for what gains 👍

Modfix 😁 yes love the format like to see new shiney bits
Thanks buddy
Proven gains, love to see it’s done the business.
Well done boys and well done modfix paying to prove it.

You dont need a baffled sump for track days in the FN2. Although i understand why you would, just to be safe.

Is this something you would do if you aim for a k24 frank or would that be different because of a different bottom end?

longer vids in the workshop!

Balance Shaft vs RRC? As similar priced. More labour for fitting shaft. And would you change anything else doing balance shaft?
RRC
Can rev higher with this pump too

its good as a step towards custom grind cams that take advantage of extra power in the higher than 8600 rpm space.
@DynodazeHondaTuners I agree with you there, no point in revving it out if power falls over, I do believe the jap spec ep3r had slightly more aggressive cams than the UK delivered one. I got a tune for all my mods already, if I install a fd2 pump on the fn2, do I need another tune for it? Or is it slap in and play?
should be fine
Will that pump still fit in my SPOON oil pan?
unsure

Obviously it's not going increase power. There is no logical reason why it would do either. It's got nothing to do with the induction or combustion process.
it removes some of the parasitic loss- thats it. hence the 5 hp gain up top.
