Less food means less sleep that way you can append more time for bhakti (worship). If you eat in restaurant you never know about cleanliness and feelings of the chefs.because our shastra said chefs emotion effect our food.in short Swamiji is right.

Ekadashi vrat is pleasing to Krishna. Chaitanya mahaprabhu requested his mother to do this. Another name for ekadashi is madhava tithi. This is not a ritual karma kanda activity if it pleases Krishna. Karmakanda rituals are for our own sense gratification or for material reasons that's why they are called fruitive activity, but doing things to please Krishna is not for ourselves so it's not fruitive and hence not karma kanda. The actual way to fast on ekadashi is nirjal, without water, without food, however since we struggle to do nirjal some foods are allowed that will not hamper our vrata. Secondly the moon waxing and waning is powerful and has effect on us that's why we don't eat during eclipses. We, our bodies are made up of large amounts of water and hence during waxing and waning of moon the food is not digested properly and becomes toxic. Lunar cycles have effect on mind emotions and body, if they can affect the tides then what to speak of us. There are scientific reasons why we fast as well as the pap purush residing in grains. This is not myth. Ekadashi is a personality and she is the mother of devotion and Krishna gave her shelter to bestow devotion on those who observe her on ekadashi day. Pap purush had nowhere to reside that's why Krishna allowed him residence in the grains on that day. Ekadashi is fast from beans grains legumes, so cannot eat rice or wheat etc. Please refer to Amarnath prabhu on scientific purpose behind fasting on ekadashi he has done a video on you tube to explain the scientific and spiritual purpose behind ekadashi. This should not be made into a joke or myth or ritual. It cleanses the body to fast and has health benefits as well as spiritual benefit. People below 8 and over 80 do not need to do this according to hari bhakti vilas and those who are on medicines for chronic disease. So this vrata pleases Krishna and ekadashi mother of devotion bestows many blessings. Just like we worship tulasi devi bhakti devi, she is the mother of devotion, this pleases Krishna.
