Band Maid Makes PERFECT Songs. For nearly ten years they consistently produce great, varied, ever evolving music.
Personally I think Akane, her drum technician and the sound engineer should get a Nobel prize for how her drumkit sounds, both in the studio and live mixes. She sounds so clear without burying anything else going on and I for one am very thankful for that because she is so good.
Agreed! One of the cleanest and precise drummers I've ever listened to. The 16th notes on her kick in the intro....like a michine gun burst.
Akane has spent a long time training her drum techs. I can't remember if it was an interview or an instagram post, but Akane said that she basically had to redesign her double kick pedal, and adding a spring (stronger spring?) to it to get her speed up where she wants it. And she also had mentioned that she tunes her drums to a particular pitch/note that Kanami wants.
That piano action is a backtrack played by Kanami, the lead guitarist. She is a classically trained virtuoso pianist as well.
Them releasing an instrumental as a single is exactly the sort of thing I expect from this band

You're in for a treat when it comes to Band-Maid vocals. They have 120+ tracks in their catalog and only 4 (I believe) are instrumentals. Go to their UA-cam channel and just pick a song, any song. No 2 songs are the same and its like opening presents on Christmas and finding each one just as amazing as the one you just opened. They are that good...no joke brother. To see them in their element, check out the official live versions or some recent fan cams from US tour last Oct..
Yes, they only have 4 songs intended as instrumentals, however they have made instrumental versions of many of their songs, including all the songs on the Unseen World album, plus others. They have also taken a song meant to be an instrumental and added vocals to it. (Play)

Oh yes, they have vocals. I think you will like Saiki. Miku, who is also the rhythm guitarist, does backing vocals and harmonies. I suggest Domination live next.

In answer to your question at the end, most of their songs (i.e. over 100) do have vocals. They actually have two vocalists, one of whom is not in this video, and the other is the rhythm guitarist. If you want a song that showcases the vocals and instruments equally, Domination (live) is a good starting point, or just pick literally any official live video except Onset (which is fantastic, but is another instrumental).
A you have just seen, they have come on a bit since 2020. Now instrumentally on another level. Yet they have the most brilliant lead singer too. No growls, shouting or screams thank god.
Well an occasional growl from Saiki, but then a Saiki growl is a bit special
Try the MV for Daydreaming if you want to hear their vocalist - its one of my favs specifically for her singing- and one of their best tracks imo- its a power ballad.
" Wonderland " is another great vocal track !
for me it's not the song but one of my favorite guitar solos
There are 2 instrumentals i'd love BAND-MAID to release. A full version of "Hard Wash" done during the pandemic & "Go Nuts" which was played live specially for a radio host :)
Hard Wash is a generational classic, similar to the great Chopping Broccoli of past eras.
I think they just misspelled it and meant to write Hand Wash. You could go nuts doing a hard wash. That's gotta hurt. 😆 Miku was just washing her hands. But she was doing it hard so maybe it was correct. 🤷🏻♂

@@jkkansasband7056 No, I think hard wash is exactly what they intended ... in Japanese. It was the height of pandemic fear and way before it was fully understood how it spread. Remember, in their abundance of caution, the govt was suggesting we wipe down all our groceries as they came in, etc. So I think whatever the Japanese term they had in mind, it meant consciously, intently washing your hands. Unfortunately, translations from Japanese suck when trying to go word for word, because Japanese tends to work within metaphor more than English. So that term, directly translated, became Hard Wash.
Try "influencer" and "Blooming". Excellent vocals by their lead vocalist, Saiki, and their 2nd vocalist Kobato Miku.

or if you're really into vocals, the best way to hear their vocals best is to checkout one of the 14 songs they recomposed for an acoustic live stream show the performed-on Christmas 2021. "Catharsis" acoustic version highlights Saiki's (lead singers) voice and the song "Sayonakidori" acoustic version Miku (their backing vocalist) takes lead with backing vocal support from Akane (their drummer).
Yes of course!. Band Maid is a band of powerful voices. The lead vocalist, Saiki Atsumi, is a prodigy of intensity and charisma, and the rhythm guitarist, Miku Kobato, provides the twin vocals, harmonies, and plays lead vocals on some songs. Sometimes it seems that the outstanding musicality of the instruments steals prominence from the voices, but in many cases it is practically the other way around.
They have a vocalist, and they have done multiple anime soundtracks. Overall, an excellent group of musicians. Their recent US tour was sold out and they crushed every single show they did.

Yes. They normally have a vocalist. This was a rare instrumental. Check out Domination (official live MV) to get a good idea of what they are like in full form.
Band-Maid's instrumentals hit different. Kanami writes them like songs, just without vocals. Akane's drum fills are always so satisfying. She writes the drum parts and plays them as they are written in live performances (no improv)
They are mainly a vocal group. The lead singer Saiki has a nice deep alto voice, which is different than what you hear from most Japanese female singers. Their songs have been used in a few anime openings and endings, the most notable song being Sense for Platinum End.
Hey Newova, their instrumentals are top notch as you can see but BAND-MAID is mostly Awesome vocals. Their catalog of over 120 songs is amazing. Not sure what you've seen or heard already so check out the MV's: INFLUENCER, WARNING, MANNERS. That will get you back in the game. Peace. 57.4

98% of BM songs have vocals lol- very good vocals :) They just have 4-5 great instrumentals too! In their concerts they play them to give their singer a break.
From their YT channel, "Sense" and "Different" were done for anime shows. "Unleash!!!!!" has much of the MV done in anime. "Influencer" is the MV that went up just before "From Now On." On their channel there is only one other instrumental, "Onset." Everything else has great vocals IMHO. The live videos of "Play," "Domination," "Freedom," "Choose Me," would be good places to see the entire band in concert.
More BAND-MAID, please. Yes they have a vocalist. And they have anime songs. But check out their official LIVE stuff. That's where they shine.
By now you probably have found out that Saiki The lead vocalist just took a break for them to do instrumental. What do you think now? (I assume by now you have checked out something else by them, if not shame on you lol)
Band-Maid is a true phenomena happening: has almost hit 10 yrs now, about to hit half mil subs on YT, I have watched all the work for last 3 years and even japanese TV shows and interviews. They are in my opinion of of the best concert bands. These girls have skyrocketed, and appear to be not stopping, they are really innovators of a sort, causing a lot of genre change leading this all girl J-Rock revolution still going!
"From Now On" to me is is simply the heaviest rock I have ever heard them do, and shows what I feel is becoming legendary skills...

Check out Band-Maid Influencer. Their new stuff I great their old stuff is great. They have definitely evolved throughout the years. Coolest thing about this band is they never fail to deliver the unexpected.

Akane uses a lot of cymbal, but it being a splash type thees no long sustain, hit and gone! She like to ride it on 1-3 beat at times and don't feel the sound is overpowering either. Stay with Band-Maid, these girls are for real!

All but four of their 120 songs have vocals, you just happen to have picked one that doesn't. There are five of them, the lead singer was not in this video and the backing singer is one of the guitarists. Although all of them can sing and have during specific songs to provide vocal support on occasion. This is a newer song, if you want a newer song with vocals checkout their song "Influencer"

Try "Manners" as next. You wouldn't believe that it is the same band playing. So differentc sound, but they still rock. Also, you can hear the lovely vocals on it.
Dude they have sooo Manny great songs I don't know what to recommend. Try BLOOMING! Then go down their "official music videos"

if you want an anime opening from them, then try Different or Sense which were both written for Anime and then if you would like something special that's anime themed then go for Unleash!!!!! Everyone else has of course mentioned that they have a stellar lead vocalist, Saiki, and likewise supporting vocals from Miku the rhythm guitarist that you see here who also sings lead on some songs.

99% of their music has vocals. you just happened to pick the one song that is an instrumental. they have i believe around 4-5 normal instrumentals and they did release an instrumental version of their last album Unseen World than came with the Offical Score tab book of that album. their sound has varied over the years, constantly changing, constantly evolving. you would be hard pressed to find a single bad song in their library of music. one thing i would subjest, if you do decide to dive deeper into the Band-Maid library, i would first check any offical music videos first. then if they have a live version of it(their are alot of them), watch those afterwards so you would have a comparison of the 2 to judge. sometimes there is no musice video for some of their tracks, sometimes there is no live video for some of their MV tracks. OH and if there is an option for CC, use it!!! alot of their music videos from Conquerer onward have english subtitles and sometimes a few of the older ones. have fun, because it is a very long journey between the 8 studio albums, 2 EP's, 1 live album( Online Acoustic Okyu-Ji). you have alot to listen to lol.
