"What I do offer is good photography, excellent information, and I don't waste your time." And that's why you're the only channel I subbed to for car reviews! Stay classy!
finally, a youtube channel that my 15 yr old son doesnt enjoy. No teenage jokes and very professional reviews. fresh breath of air for me !! Thank you please keep up these reviews.
I've been subbed to your channel for years, but never paid attention to your sub count. It's insane that you don't have way more subs than that. Thanks again for your dedication, Tom and also to Mr. Campbell for always lending his services!
BMW is committed to the environment. They left out the frunk in order to discourage conspicuous consumption. We bought an i4 e40 msport that is also frunkless. Unless you need the bigger back seat or “need” the extra luxury, the i4 is a better buy than the i5. Over 30,000 miles of mostly highway driving in New England, our car has a lifetime consumption of 3.8 mi/kWh and routinely gets 4.0 to 4.2 in summer. The lift back and large storage space with the rear seats folded allowed us to replace an SUV with this car. Five thumbs up!
You really need to get Mr. Campbell a matching jacket for shooting the driving scenes in order to disguise who's driving and when. Great work as always.
I don’t get why anyone would want the bigger wheels. Less range, no better handling, more $’s for the rubber. I suppose with the options on this car they were mandatory. And what car did Martin purchase Tom? Did you get a Taycan?
Because large wheels look better (and yes part of the M Sport Package). Also, 265 miles of range is more than most people need. Really. I need to finish Martin's story, coming soon. No Taycan for me, still pondering...
@@DrivenCarReviews you’ve been conditioned to believe large wheels look better while being totally without merit. So Tom, next time you’re invited to Southern California or Utah or Arizona why don’t you drive your 265 range EV and tell me what a wonderful experience it was. Instead of flying. Then perhaps you will see what’s holding back all us old people who actually drive across the country.
Just picked up a 2024 i5 eDrive40 without the M package, ventilated seats, or upgraded stereo. Leasing one allows BMW to collect and pass on the $7500 incentive even though it was built in Germany. After an additional dealer discount, loyalty rebate and only the Premium package, metallic white, and grill light and a $7500 deposit to avoid being upside down on the car (I sold my "trade in" for more, it is more of a $58,000 car before the extra added $7500 deposit). It has excellent summer tires that throw back to the practicality and durability of the original Michelin X radial, even though they cost $350 each. It has a rating of 295 miles on full charge (320 so far with me) and feels quite safe and comfortable. I'm looking forward to a long pleasant experience without unnecessary options like 21 inch wheels but would have liked the phytonic blue to be available without the M package.
I'm not a fan of BMW, and this is the first review of the new 5 series I'm watching. And I'm doing it because of you Tom! Your comments and info are the best! Keep up the good work!
Tom, Totally understand. Thanks for advising and I hope all goes well with you and your family. I’ll continue to keep a look out for the video as your teasers always grab my attention. 😀. All the best. RG
Great review. Advice for future reviews- don’t use EPA numbers alone for EV range. Model S doesn’t come close to the EPA number. So real world range is about the same as BMW.
I heard that. There's been a lot of chatter that Tesla starts out with the range indicator being very optimistic then plummeting once the pack hits around 33%. Makes it harder to judge daily range effectively.
I subscribe to a lot of car youtube channels. Yours is, and has always been, one of my favorites. Looking forward to celebrating when you reach those 1M subscribers.
The placement of the charging ports right on the cup holders. Like, those are not going to get gunked up on the first spill of soda/espresso drink. Why can't automakers place charging ports slightly to the side so that the cable can be neatly routed, while maintaining the clean appearance of the infotainment system.
Just took delivery of my new i5 M Sport pro in cody green! Had it for a few days and it’s absolutely fantastic. Awesome luxury, awesome comfort enough power for UK roads and the tech is epic. Although the M60 is way more powerful unless you line in Germany and use the Autobahn then it’s not worth the money.
I find charging at home 100% more convenient than going to a gas station. But completely understand that not everyone can charge at home. Now that some family have EVs and home charging we share when visiting. So even less visits to public charging.
Excellent channel, one of the very few I subscribe to. I find the car very attractive, and probably my 5 Series choice, but the Lucid Air Pure seems hugely compelling for about the same price.
Okay i have a question? with an ev car why would BMW let noise in? isnt the purpose of an ev is for the interior to be quiet? Love the video big fan Tom!
I leased the i4 M50 but I seriously considered this one; it's a nice car. At the end of the day I didn't really want a larger car, and did want the extra performance. My i4 came out to 76k as equipped, so only slightly cheaper than this one. If you find a 2024 on the lot there are crazy lease incentives right now since the 2025's are coming next month.
Still can't believe they copied taillights from the GAC GA6 from China. Also, I've seen spy shots of the upcoming X3 and it's taillights look exactly the same as an MG. Also Chinese.
I’ve had my BMW i4 for 18 months and I’m very happy with it. Many of the mechanicals are shared with the 5 series. So far, the car is faultless, range exceeds expectations and it delivers on the driving experience one expects from a BMW. That sad, BMW really needs a nose job, across the board.
BMW has great engineers but they are let down by the designers. Exterior is unacceptable to my eyes. Small headlights, unusually wide taillights and a long front overhang. The car appears tall/narrow versus low/wide.
Don't ever apologize. Haters are what's wrong with this country. Good review. Just missing a real 0-60, because that's where BMW shines over everyone else in class. DeMuro is a freak. His assessment of most every car is that, "It drives like the others in the class." Cancelled. Stay true to your brief. BTW, I know about ten Tesla owners. No Tesla goes over 300 miles. Most are 240-280. Battery size and friction are physics constants. You can squeeze wine from a stone.
My neighbor got the new 5 a few weeks ago but as a Diesel. He also bought a X6 last year and I don't like both of them 😊. And they just need maxium one, he walks 5 minutes to his company. I prefer my 2005 Volvo V70. It will probably still drive while the BMW's are already on the junkyard.
That shot of the charge door showed off some NOT so great paint quality. For that MSRP, I'd flip my lid if I had orange peel on a new car. Still a beautiful car.
@@DrivenCarReviews Tom I do appreciate the in-depth article. I spent a lot of years in the auto world so I had a loose understanding of this; the detail here was nice to learn. My point still rings here I think. This is a luxury car and for its sticker, I'd be upset at that level of orange peel. I picked up a new VW a few weeks ago with virtually zero OP, you'd need a detailer's light to catch any. I just feel BMW should be beyond that.
Super crazy car if I had the space I'd be buying all available models including the up coming M5. BMW 5 series better then Mercedes Benz E-class better priced and looks ten times prettier then the ridiculously overpriced Benz.
Sorry Tom, I don't usually have any issues with what you say, but Doug's videos are not better than yours. I watch and enjoy his videos when he reviews a car I'm interested in. I watch all of your videos. You do every day cars for us ordinary folk. He does more niche cars.
Exterior is ok, don't care for the oversized nostrils. The dashboard with two tablets glued together is uber-ugly, although not as bad as Tesla 3/Y. Gone the idea of cockpit and of tactile controls, there is no hood over the instruments to protect feom sun glare, not to mention the on-screen graphics is meh. Even the Camry looks better inside.
FIVE THOUSAND pounds for a RWD sedan?! This is what happens when they use an architecture that has to support both ICE and EV. For someone concerned about the environment, this is big NO THANKS.
@@DrivenCarReviews Model S which is a larger car with AWD and more range weighs 300 lbs less. Model 3 with AWD weighs 4000 lbs which is on par with other AWD cars in its category. There is no reason EV cars must way 1000 lbs more than their ICE counterparts.
i think the design is an absolute disappointment compared to previous gen. EV or not, its bulky, static and lost that signature effortless sportiness bmws have always had. interior being all tactile is unacceptable as well. this fad will surely end one day and we go back to ease of use and quality instead of tech fests and static design. great review tho
@@zero-lifespan I have no doubt it is high a quality, well built interior, it is a BMW after all. However from a design esthetic, to my eye it’s ugly. Most modern BMW’s are with these big tacked on video game screens and overdone lighting. To each their own lol.

I don’t get why anyone would want the bigger wheels. Less range, no better handling, more $’s for the rubber. I suppose with the options on this car they were mandatory.

Cosmetic upgrade and don't need range...some doctor/lawyer who will drive it to the office and back home.
