The first and maybe the second game are the best Street games imo.Volta sucks tremendously. Fun simple games, no DLC's, microtransactions or any other monetisation crap. I'm definitely not a sports fan at all but i played the first game and still do to this day.
Back then i was 11 when the game released. I liked that it didn't had any rules, you can violently slide tackle with both legs someone. You can perform tricks where you can't do it in a stadium but only on the street. The gamebreaker feature.
It may sound simple nowadays but back then it was huge. It's the only sports game i liked and ever played since then. Now I'm playing it from time to time through PCSX2 for nostalgia sake. I've even considered buying a new one for 400€ on eBay to revisit some old games i used to play but I'll just play them for some time then move on with my PS5 so it's not worth it in my part.
I dedicated so much playtime with my PS2 i can't even comprehend. I was 6 when i first got it in 2000. And until i was 20 i was still playing it 5 times a week at least. After that irl stuff happened which i didn't had time at all to play. I sold my PS2 and all it's games [ i believe i had over 230 ] due to financial issues.
When i got the PS3 slim i had mixed opinions. Sure the graphics were huge evolution but it didn't "clicked" me like PS2 and i was kinda fed up with 30fps. PS2 has another charm to it. I stuck with my PS3 until 2021 when i bought the PS5. I skipped PS4 and hadn't played any of the games released on that platform so even though PS5 lacks new IP's i have a huge library of games through backwards compatibility with PS4. If someone asked me whether to buy a PS5 or not I'll say start buying it when it closes 4 years since release, cause the gaming industry right now is completely disaster. At least AAA.
