i work in the healthcare field and have to keep my nails short and clean. Ive been searching for years for a way to have nails for my guitar playing and be able to adhere to the hygiene standards of my job. Im going to try this. Im very excited and i hope that this works for me. Thank you very much for creating this tutorial.

I gave you the black mountain thumb pick ! Roger might I suggest you look at the Lava Me 4 spruce guitar ! In my opinion if it was sold through guitar stores which it isn’t it would cripple the Martin Gibson Taylor Guild sales except to die hard big name customers. It’s revolutionary in concept and execution. They make primarily carbon fibre guitars but the new solid top spruce guitar is fabulous!!

Many thanks Roger, I've had trouble for years with nails, super glue etc. Now thanks to you my nails are great. My playing sound much smoother, it's given me more confidence when finger picking.
Also love the piece you play when demoing guitars. Any chance of a tab of it.

Hi. You are most welcome. Thanks for the great feedback! As well thanks for liking my demo tune. Unfortunately, I have no tab for it. Cheers,
      Roger

Buy 3-star ping pong balls and shape them. Classical guitarist Jason Vieaux has used this technique on his thumb nail for years, for ergonomic reasons, he once told me. (His thumbs are too short.) Celluloid from Japan, or modern plastic, from elsewhere. Celluloid is fading out of use due to being volatile, but some guitarists still prefer it to plastic. Nick Lucas, the pioneer of plectrum use for guitars, used a celluloid pick. My favorite pick is multicolored confetti, aka clown barf. That would look wild on your fingertips! Not for me, though.

I have heard about this method but haven’t tried it yet. But it means going back to nail glue which I am hoping to avoid.

Thanks for the links Roger. I am using them and they work great. I find I dont need to double up with the clear ones, although I guess it depends on the length you keep them.

Unfortunately, the nails in the first link are out on Amazon. Is there another site where I can get these?

I struggled with my fragile fingernails for years and using fake nails has never come across my mind. After having watched this video I ordered similar nails, sticky pads and glue and I am looking forward to trying them next week. I also tried to research the fake nail subject and found that some ladies successfully use fake toenails on their thumbs. Like fake fingernails they are sold in packs of different sizes - you might find a suitable one, I guess.

@@BrickhouseGuitarsKitchener Trying for the 4th day now. Found that single nails work better for me than the double upped ones, because they give me more feedback. Also I found the sticky pads not very strong and the nails lift. So I switched to the nail glue and the nails feel a lot more secure now.

Lucky that my nails are strong enough to sustain the amount I play, but nice to know there's a solution if that ever changes.
I remember John Renbourn would cut up ping-pong balls and glue them on!
