  • I’d intended to do a much better video of the Dragon’s Tail, but I got a little carried away on The Pig Trail, which I ran earlier in the day, and ran myself out of battery in one camera, and memory space in another. But I did manage to get the switchbacks. Fun ride.
No talking, just some Steppenwolf and curvy roads.

While never have been to this area your video put me back in the doorway of a Army Huey Gunship on the deck at speed in the late 60s. Always thrilling! Thanks Sir.

Or hwy 30 in Tennessee. But 10,20 feet over the river south of cu chi at a high rate of fuel consumption consumption

Awesome! Thanks for the compliment and for your service!
Folks can laugh at me if they want, but I often imagine I’m flying in some sort of extremely agile craft on roads like that.
And that video was a very lucky accident. I’d misjudged my trip, and that was the only camera that still had battery life by the time I got to the switchbacks-and the camera died about two minutes after I got to the bottom!

@@BackroadsTraveler Flying mentally while physically driving is something I do on a regular basis.. Since I live in Stone County, Arkansas I "Fly" a lot. Sitting about 12" in front of a hi res 27'monitor and watching yo sweep those curve made me fil roll motion. Great feeling to have again. I was a back seat door gunner on a Huey gunship and we put it on the deck plenty of times. Had sever pilots that like to drop down under the tree canopy and follow the road going through the Michelin Rubber Tree Plantation. Several times they had to bank hard and cut though the tree tops with the blades. I had pieces of tree limbs hit me several times. I doubt those ground workers were very happy about that at all. Put 2- 1/2 years in the same company on two tours. Never wore a seat belt or monkey harness the entire time I was there. Road Harleys for a number of years but nothing like you! I do know my limitations on the ground! Think I need to build a two seat roadster I have had on my mind for a number of years. Would be a great car for the Dragon. Thanks for your great video and my mental trip on the deck. You Done Good!

I rode Dragon's Tail about a month ago and vowed myself I'd be back! What a great road! Thanks for capturing the switch backs! Pig Trail is good, but nothing like the Dragon's Tail!

Thanks for watching! I took my wife to Paris, AR last year, and we drove down to Mt Magazine, and there’s some dandy roads down there, too. Just bought a new bike-video coming soon-and plan to go back down there and run that road again, as well as the ones around Mt Magazine.

while heading to / from the northern end of this... just north of Mt Judea is 374 to hwy 7. That's a cool ride if you're heading to/from Jasper.

Yes it is! That road is a hidden gem! It was sheer luck on my part that I took it at all. I hadn’t planned to, but a last minute decision ended up being one of my better surprises from that trip! Took my wife through there the year before last in her car, and hope to have her with me on the Triumph next year for the same trip!

Thanks! Yeah, it was a blast. First road I’ve ridden that required me to think about it. Really wish I hadn’t ran out of battery and storage space on my cameras-I had a bunch more video planned.

100% Arkansas. The stretch of 123 between Lurton and Mt Judea is sometimes referred to as “The Little Dragon”, “The Dragon’s Tail” (as opposed to “The Tail of the Dragon” in NC) or the “Arkansas Dragon”.
      Thanks for watching!!!

I live in the area. I think people just got on a kick of naming things dragon if it had a couple of hair pins. It's a fun road but it's just a curvy road with a handful of sharp corners.
The Pig Trail is also over rated. Good road. Not a destination road.
