You should start digging another pond and it will start raining like crazy 😂
Now this is next level thinking
Don't forget to wash some cars for good measure...lol@@username8644
Just fake it, that should be enough 😂
@@joopterwijnpretty much. Just get all of your equipment out into the field and ready to go.
Don't cover anything either so you have to run out there in the rain and cover your seats with tarps and Smoke Stacks with cans. If you cover things in preparation beforehand you're just going to jinx it and it won't rain lol
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I love the casual update, even if there isn't much to show.
Thanks for the video, John. I was one of the people requesting an update. This is more fun than disappointing to see the pond in this state. Even less water than when you were building it.
Here in the UK everywhere is flooded. 😂
A lot of idiots trying to gun it through the flood waters in their Audi "4x4's" and inevitably getting stuck.. I did see a farmer in their tractor pulling a huge trailer get through a big flood, they were dragging a couple of huge concrete slabs without even knowing, tractors are amazing machines!
Adding a ram pump sounds like a great idea!
That's all it is. A good idea! A ram pump with a 20 metre inlet pipe and enough fall on it may send up enough water to compensate for the evaporation in a birdbath, but that's about all! Ask me how I know!
Hi Jon, many thanks for the update, Murphy's Law in action haha. Do a pump project when you get chance would be very interesting to see that. Many many thanks from very wet UK.
We got a little rain today, probably not enough to make a difference. East of you.
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Thanks John! As they say in Canada’s Maritimes, the tide goes in and the tide goes out…meaning the rains will come some day … and you’ll probably wish they would stop.😊
It's a La Nina year - not uncommon for precipitation patterns to be substantially different than usual. In the PNW, it's been dry and sunny - by now it's usually cloudy and raining every day. It's a nice change to still be seeing the sun! I'd be perfectly happy if every year was La Nina. Also, in the Canadian Marittimes, I'm pretty sure the more accurate quote is, “These things have a way of working themselves out. I’m gonna let the liquor do the thinking.”
On the positive side, the bottom is holding water beautifully ...😁
I am looking forward to a video of the ram pump project. I have never been disappointed on your channel before. This one is the first. See you for the next one.
I definitely know the dry feeling. I am roughly 100 miles north of you in Virginia. We have a cistern as our water source and over the weekend, it ran dry for the first time since we moved here 15 years ago. Luckily with a cistern, you can get water delivered so we were only out for around 12 hours. Could have been worse if it was a well that dried up... Haha!!
Keep the videos coming John. I really enjoy your format and the way you explain things and are not afraid to get your hands dirty to work on something. I am debating buying an excavator to start working on some land I bought in West Virginia, and watching you fix things gives me hope that I can probably get away with not buying the newest machine out there and that I should be able to repair many of the things that can go wrong.
Thanks John for the pond update. I’ve been very curious but we all can see what a lack of rain can do. What’s really ironic is that the entire time you were building the pond you contended with rain almost everyday. I know just how great it will look once the rainy season sets in. Thanks again.
Morning John, well that one tadpole still thinks it's a pond 🤣🤣🤣
Great update and would love to see you put a pump 👍
Andrew Camarata would make it rain or just got some water from somewhere else with his truck 😂
Can't wait for the full video. Great work.
Please do a 1" Ram Pump. Most people do a 1/2" pump. I for one would love to see the trials and tribulations involved with such a contraption! 😀 I don't have any idea about a "Solar Pump". Period! Either way both will work fine with some maintenance.
The one downfall of the Solar Pump is that it works only when you have sun, whereas the ram pump works 24/7.
I love the channel
You could put a solar powered timelapse camera in that old house If the owner doesn't mind. That would make nice footage for a proper update video ;)
Nice update John. I live in East Tn. and as you say, we are experiencing
quite a dry spell. Hopefully this winter will furnish enough snow melt and rain to do all of your hard work justice.. I have read that we will be getting
quite a lot of Snow so things should be looking up for your build. Anyway
nice job will your build..

Best update video i've seen there, John! Short and to the point. 👍
I didn't care about the pond to NEED and update. Only clicked because it was the first time i've seen an "update video" that is just that, not padded with bs for 10:01 minutes :))
G,day from Sydney Australia. I'm praying that you get rain soon. That was an interesting civil engineering project: and not to mention the fuel contamination and filter screen issues.
🌏🇭🇲
Well, this answers a lot of my questions. Thank you for the update. BTW, try washing your car, it usually works for me to make it rain.
Well Jon there's only so much you can do, and you've done it, although that creek pump sounds like a step in the right direction. Javi G.
Good to see some grass on the back wall
Thanks for the "nothing to update" update. interested to see the pump install video.
Thanks for the update John! Dig your content!
I'm starting to realize how lucky we were while digging our half acre pond. It started filling from a spring as we were digging. We had to run pumps to finish the job. When we shut off the pumps, it was completely full over night. Three days start to finish.
Jon, Your camera turn to the empty pond surprised me. Also a bit funny also. Sorry about no rain. Yes definetly would like to see your video of a Ram Pump OR what ever he decides to have. Thanks.
About time for a new pond update ;)
I always appreciate updates, or really any video when everything isnt perfect as expected. No sense pretending some things are beyond our control, excited to see how it looks when its filled up.
Nice to see you on a Tuesday, Jon. Thanks for the update!
Our creek is all but dried up due to the drought. Forecast is almost 3 inches of rain today, hopefully it will help with the fire and cut down on the smoke so that sitting out on the deer stand is more enjoyable.
Liked the update. Will like a full pont update also 😊
Spectacular, my type of pond! 🤣
Video on a ram pump would be pretty cool!
Happy thanksgiving to you and your family John!🙂
Wished we had a fraction of the rain you guys get. It's been getting dryer out west. Had to give up ranching and hay growing.
My first thought to you showing us the pond, “Oh damn!”
Im sure you follow andrew camarata please contact him about pond building when you see his endeavor i know virtually nothing about it but i think you do im a big follower and admirer of you both but i see a vast difference in the way the ponds were built know this you put it out there ill sure be watching it no matter what its always interesting to me especially the honesty i see. Not the bs as you see in so much of the content of others my opinion is you are a very respectable person and i know absolutely nothing about you but im a pretty good judge of character id like to think. Good job keep it up the younger generation needs to see more of it. Seriously a breath of fresh air. Thanks
Thanks for the update, John. Plenty of rain here in Floyd County today. Hope you guys got some over your way.
come to Scotland and take our daily rain back home with you, the last time I saw dry dead grass was 1976 here
Raining now. Appomattox checking in. You should get some water today.
Itis good to see the grass establishing on the dam wall and i like the ram pump idea thank you for the update
Slightly disappointed that the rains haven't cooperated for you guys, yes. Here in southern central Ohio it's been raining off and on fairly regularly. Right this minute and all last night, even.
What's *_not_* disappointing is seeing a short video from you pop up in my feed on a Tuesday. Very pleasant surprise! Sorry our demand for a pond update pushed you out of your way to literally tell us that there's nothing to tell us... But thank you for the added effort! We appreciate what you do, John. Thank you again.
Muddy pond update is still a pond update 😄
Can't help it, but anything water is interesting, would sure be nice to see the creek, how much it flow, the gradient/terrain and so on 😁
Do you usually get mostly rain or snow throughout the winter?
Mostly rain. It should fill up this winter.
As always, a pleasure to watch.
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!
Lol same here in tn, finally rained here today after weeks.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Keep digging it deeper and larger!!!! This has been a great series of videos!
A pond is like fine whiskey. It takes time.
Being above the water table and not having a significant drainage area to feed it, sorry to say you might never have the pond you wanted. Unless you can indeed fill it from the creek with a substantial pump. Fun watching the project though. Now would be the time to smooth it out with the bulldozer.
I hope he will ask your help for the pump just because I like your videos and I'm sure it would do a good one!
bwah hahaha! i got my hopes up for the big reveal and I laughed so hard because the water hasn't even reached the drain pipe yet😂😛
Wow that’s crazy, here in NY we have had so much rain this year. Hope you get some rain soon!
Not where I live in NY.
Good time to bring the dozer and tapper those sharp drop off edges in.
Hey John nice to see the pond anyway ,you,'ll get Rain ,go wash the car that always makes it rain here in Adelaide 😅😅😅
Cheers kym
Yeh ,but what a magnificent job you did on it!
Thanks for the update. nice to see the work that you did and the progress of it even though there has not been any rain to fill it. Like following your work and you sharing your experience with us. learned somethings that have helped.
I suspected so. "Nothing to see here!". Just before you panned I said "bone dry!" and then when you panned over to the "pond" and it was barely a mud puddle, I LOL.
The electronic analogy to a water ram, is an inductive boost converter.
John, It is coming into winter and it will rain 👏👏
Thanks John.
i had been wondering, but i figured you would show it when there was something to show!! thanks for the interim update! keep up the quality content!
Thanks for the update! Your work still looks amazing.
Would love to see a ram pump video. Thanks for the update.
One last update with the pond full to the brim ??!!! Come on rain.. Ram pump? We need to see this pond being a pond
Crazy. Love the update either way. Thanks
I can imagine that it was dry.
All the rain fell over here....(western europe (netherlands))
Omg, you even drained the sky! What can you not do? =)
It's great that you give an update
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Just drag a long big hose on the ground from the watercreek to the pond. Just make sure that the end at the pond is lower than the end at the creek. That way the water should flow down to the pond if you prime the hose first. Just like you steal gas from a fueltank. Love your videos! You are like a internet dad!
I've heard of this but couldn't get it to work because I was doing it wrong and still can't figure it out to this day. I was trying to empty a stock tank with a piece of hose in the exact way you're describing. The main problem was the "priming" part. Can you explain how to do that? Thank you!

Thank you for the update on that John. Still waiting on a full service fluids change on your D3 in the future. Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, John. Thanks for the videos ! James
Thanks Jon, hope your pastures are OK for the cattle .
Have a good Thanksgiving
Building a ram pump would be a great video.
This is the driest November I can remember. Tri Cities area in northeast Tennessee, just 0.1 inch until the 21st. Getting some rain today, though. Looks like you're getting it too. Good luck! Thanks for the update.
We appreciate the update even if there isn't much to show.
what a wonderful drone shot of the pond
Thanks for the update…I was wondering about it.
Thanks, Enjoy your channel...
It's been dry in Texas as well. We finally got some rain last month, about 4" worth, but got it all at once. Had some spritzing cold front rain since but nothing of any account.
I enjoy your content, positive or waiting for rain..lol Your pond structure looks good!
We had major drought this year as well. I have new mini pond for our alpacas that until last week when we got about 10”. Kinda typical. Thanks for the video update sir. And a blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours
We are in a long drought here in North Central Florida but South Florida is flooding.
In one of your equipment repair vids you said you were using 91% isopropyl because it was the strongest you could buy!! You can buy denatured alcohol by the gallon either in Lowes or Home Depot or Cabela's probably it's labeled stove fuel for camping stoves!!
Thanks for the update!
get a new set of arnold palmer clubs in a new leather golf bag and just set them on the dam. instant rain
Thanks for the update. The pond series was super interesting.
looks good. John
Ram pumps are fascinating. No electricity. Only using water/air pressure to work. Seen them on many TV shows (Homestead Rescue off the top of my head) Moving water uphill.
Surprised you’re not trying to install your own creek! Happy thanksgiving!
It looks really nice. You did a good job.
Thumbs up John. Prayin for rain.
It's amazing how brown everything else (I'm in Scotland, if something sits still long enough, something will grow on it).
Thank you for the update
We can send you plenty, it's been pissing down non-stop for months in Europe.
Rain Dance is Required !!! Lol..
Now we need a video of you and mamma doing a rain dance….just a thought.
