1. California Split (really did a good job of capturing a normal lifestyle of a gambler on film) 2. The cinncinati kid (very charismatic guy) 3. 21 (very entertaining film) 4. Stu Ungar (Acting is terrible, but I love Stu Ungar's story. It's seriously like something out of a Disney movie, except for how it ends..)
"Cincinatti Kid" just as an honorable mention? That's dishonoring the greatest of all gambling movies. Great performances, straight forward story, different approaches to gambling, and a guy who gambles on all levels.
Leaving it off the list is like leaving The Godfather or Casablanca off a list of best movies ever. Yet a dickhead film like Maverick makes the list....more proof that little kids compile these lists.

Guys, the name of the movie was called CASINO. Let me remind you of the definition. a public room or building where gambling games are played. Get with the program here people.
Also Check out player 5150, win it all, casino, 21, lucky you and poolhall junkies. I wish they made more films based on the casino. Edit - big hand for a little lady is great too
I agree with your number one pick but it could also be The Cincinnati Kid. Leaving that movie out shows this editor is clueless about this subject. All modern day poker movies are based off of that classic with Steve McQueen. You disappoint me.
This list should have included "The Grand" from 2007. It is a mockumentary type film reminiscent of Christopher Guest's films. It has Woody Harrelson, Dennis Farina, Ray Romano, and so many other recognizable faces and cameos from real life poker stars. It's drop dead hysterical and the only reason I can think of that is wouldn't be included is that the yahoos at watchmojo have not seen it.
For all the people commenting about Casino Royale not being on the list, they mentioned at the beginning that movies that had gambling as just their backdrop didn't qualify. The entire movie had to revolve around gambling. They even played a clip from Casino Royale when they said that xD As much as I love that movie immensely, it just had a few gambling scenes and the rest didn't revolve around that :)
i have to agree that the money involved with the gambling was just insane i mean getting 260k from your mother just to gamble it and not pay all ur dept is insane to me and no real gambler would do that i know because im compulsive gambler myself and even i would pay my dept if i would get all the money but if im short for some debt i usually try to gamble to the point where i can pay it
eXampL “no real gambler would do that?” You couldn’t be more wrong if it were stamped on ur forehead!!! Also you don’t seem to understand addiction! An addict is addict no matter what they’re addicted to. Doesn’t matter if it’s shopping, heroin, alcohol or gambling! An addict won’t stop and 90% of them would sell their own family members to feed their addiction! So him taking all that money from his mother and not paying it back or paying his debts is actually very believable!
I know right ! It's about winning £££ so the 'villain' can't fund his projects, this was a stand out for me and personally it should've been on the list!
The Cooler was a great movie, reminds me of downtown Vegas. The poker movies and pool movies weren’t really gambling, more like con men. 21 was good, and it was based on a real story. Same w Mahoney.
@@Romans8-9 You are right. But, that scene with Joe Pesci where he is waiting for his wining card on the table show the whole hell that was going on inside the gamblers mind and soul. That is one of the key-scenes in that movie, for me, at least.
Yeah even though George Lucas was a billionaire after episodes 1-6, he actually sold the rights to Disney and made a shitty 4 billion $ extra, he's never gonna hit $10 billion, only like 8 or 7 billion.......what a loser! :P

Let It Ride should have been high up on the list and not just a mention. It has its comedy moments, the dream of being nothing and living it up, etc...
Move_I_Got_This Uhh no sorry you’re wrong! It’s about revenge! If u think it’s about cheating then you have shit for brains! And don’t be so self righteous. This is a hard one for me because I luv both movies! But if I had to pick one over the other, The Sting edges out Rounders only by a cunt hair! Oh and Worm cheated too and if you don’t think it takes skill to cheat, then u have ur head up ur ass!
Customers gamble by playing games of chance, in some cases with an element of skill, such as craps, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, and video poker. ... Casinos sometimes give out complimentary items or comps to gamblers. Payout is the percentage of funds ("winnings") returned to players.
Most of their videos that is in mojo is similar they don't research much and watch each movie ten times. They are no true movie fans. Just here to make a buck.
Donald Welch WAAAAY OFF! Rain Man is NOT a chick flick! If u think it is, then you’re dumb as fuck!!! It is the furthest thing from a chick flick! You’re an idiot!!!! The reason why it’s not on this list is because it’s not about gambling! It’s about a man who discovers he has a brother, that no one told him about! It’s about a selfish, materialistic, egotistical businessman who finally discovers, after finding out he has a long lost brother, he can put other ppls needs in front of his own!
Leslie Derek Ive seen it and although i agree it has a strong gambling presence in the film and it tells you how casinos operate etc... thats just the backdrop of the film.. The film is about O.C
Let it Ride is a really underrated comedy about an average joe addicted to the ponies who the fates give one day of good luck. What about Pool Hall Junkies, It's a great movie
Stephen Sawle It really was a good movie. If color of money made it I think that one should definitely have been an honorable mention.

The sting number one
Thanks!
(is 6 months OK? 😋)
7 of spades check out Clowning a Rounders
I know "The Hustler" is the classic out of all of these, but "Rounders" is the all around gambling movie in my opinion.
Best poker movie, I go with the sting, shows all sides of gambling
Rounder is without a doubt one of my favorite movies of all time!
Dealer: 7
Austin: I'll stay.
Dealer: Sir, I suggest you hit...
Austin: I also like to live dangerously.
Ha, an Austin Powers reference! Nice
I really liked that "The Hustler" quote:

@Cesar Yehuda thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it!!
@Vincent Thiago Happy to help xD
I love Rounders!!Happy for the 2nd place!!
Yeah great film. Time to watch for the third time.
1. California Split (really did a good job of capturing a normal lifestyle of a gambler on film)
2. The cinncinati kid (very charismatic guy)
3. 21 (very entertaining film)
4. Stu Ungar (Acting is terrible, but I love Stu Ungar's story. It's seriously like something out of a Disney movie, except for how it ends..)
Bless u
Came here to say the same thing. California split is THE gamblers movie
@@Bentoffbelaire Very underrated film. It should be somewhere between 7 - 10.
As many others have already said, there is no way The Cincinnati Kid should be only an honorable mention. It could easily have been ranked #1!
Agreed Fantastic Film!!!!!
It wasn’t out when this video was published, but Mississippi Grind was fantastic
1966 flick call A Big Hand for the Little Lady starring Henry Fonda one of the best gambling flicks of all time !
Hard Eight deserved to be on the list. It's such an underrated movie.
1987's The Big Town deserves a mention. Great performances.
"Cincinatti Kid" just as an honorable mention? That's dishonoring the greatest of all gambling movies.
Great performances, straight forward story, different approaches to gambling, and a guy who gambles on all levels.
Agree, its on my pesonal Number 1 Spot
Leaving it off the list is like leaving The Godfather or Casablanca off a list of best movies ever. Yet a dickhead film like Maverick makes the list....more proof that little kids compile these lists.
"You won by raising aces on a lousy 3 card flush?" "Comes down to what it's all about. Doing the WRONG thing at the RIGHT time."
hustler is #1 hands down!
Cincinnati Kid was real artistic cinema.
Robert Altman's "California Split" not even mentioned...It is a masterpiece....I would say the best of all of them !!!!!
California Split was an excellent movie. Not anywhere close to the top, but in my opinion in the back end of the top ten.
I"m really happy that they mentioned "Let It Ride", even though i think it should be on the list.
I would recomend ''21'' hardly.

Yes lol fck those top 10 movies
I agree.
“21” shouldn’t even be in the top 10. The only movie on the list based on a true story and they completely butchered it.
21 was weak! Half of that cast are nothin but annoying lil twerps!
Cmon what about poolhall junkies even an honorable mention
NO CASINO? Not only should this be in the list, it wasn't even on the mention list. What the fuck?
...not a gambling movie, Chevy -__-
Gambling isnt the focus of that movie. Its more about crime, the mob, and the business of running the casino.
thank you casino is the best it should be 1
Nah, its a Mafia Movie in a Casino, not a Gambling Movie

1. CSGO Lounge
Please stahp, i always loose, but I'm hooked
This is based on movies not shitty games.
Wait a minute, the game needs to be good/bad to bet on it. Fuck, if its so bad i better stop
elitebelt CSGO Lounge isn't a game.

Let It Ride should have been more than an honorable mention
Classic movie!
surprised that THE GRAND didn't even get an honorable mention. Definitely one of the funniest gambling movies
This list should have included "The Grand" from 2007. It is a mockumentary type film reminiscent of Christopher Guest's films. shade is by far the best gambling movie to come out in the 20th century
I gotta go with Let it Ride. Absolutely hilarious.
The fact its basically known to any hardened gambler and isn't on the list is ridiculous.
Wow thank you going to watch it today, never heard of it
Lucky you?
How can The Cincinnati Kid be an honorable mention? That movie is a classic!!!!
I agree. "Cincinnati Kid" should be #1 and " The Hustler" #2.
Cincinnati Kid is #1 hands down .. When you put Steve McQueen and Edward G Robinson in the same room it's an instant classic!!
Fore Sure !!!!!
The Sting should be higher. As show The Cincinnati Kid. And you totally missed A Big Hand For the Little Lady.
“The risk is worth the reward”?
I think you mean the reward is worth the risk.
And how can The Cincnnati Kid get only an honorable mention?
I Liked the Poker Game on the Train in the Movie "The Sting".
Ageed....Newman and Shaw were absolutely brilliant
Wahlberg's 2014 rendition of The Gambler was excellent. Well done movie.
i have to agree that the money involved with the gambling was just insane i mean getting 260k from your mother just to gamble it and not pay all ur dept is insane to me and no real gambler would do that i know because im compulsive gambler myself and even i would pay my dept if i would get all the money but if im short for some debt i usually try to gamble to the point where i can pay it
the 2014 version was not even close to the James Caan version...not even close
yes, i agree..
eXampL “no real gambler would do that?”
You couldn’t be more wrong if it were stamped on ur forehead!!! Also you don’t seem to understand addiction! An addict is addict no matter what they’re addicted to. So him taking all that money from his mother and not paying it back or paying his debts is actually very believable!
I haven’t seen it yet but I have a sneaky suspicion that it really isn’t that good! But I’ll go see it then come back n report! K
The Cincinnati Kid just an Mention? That was the best of all! Also i missed Stallones "Shade"
Absolutely great movie
make one for heist movies like ocean's series.
Pleasantly surprised to see The Cooler on the list. I just rewatched it yesterday. :)
I always liked #4 since I watched it at my Career and Technical Center.
No mention of Molly’s Game? That should be on the list!
You forgot the move “Shade”
My Picks: Rounders #1...The Sting #2 (my favorite movie of all time)...The Cincinnati Kid #3
I love Maverick - one of the funniest movies I have ever seen - but sooo underrated!
Ninaofthe90s there's no more deeply moving religious experience.....THAN CHEATING ON A CHEATER!
The gambler??
Before the video even starts I'm pretty sure that I know which one is going to win.
and never mind i was wrong.
We're you taking about High Roller: Stu Ungar's story? Because I thought the same.
Mat Chubs which movie were you thinking of?
It was with Rain man, of course.
That was just a scene. The movie wasn't about gambling.
'Looking To Get Out staring' Jon Voight. My Favorite Gambling Movie. I did it....
For those that didn't see it, 21 is an epic movie
Now i have to had Rounders to my list
I hope by now you've seen rounders! Fantastic movie!
Agree with The Hustler being #1. An absolute classic. The rest of the list will be up for debate with this community.
no mention of "Lucky You" or "Shade"? Both great gambling movies with actually great actors and theres no mention let alone on the list??
Shade is more about grifting, despite the 3 (short) poker scenes. So a mention might be stretching it a bit.
Shade need a mention, agree
Yea lucky you is a sleeper gambling movie and should be on the list.
Not even an honerably mention for "Deal"? A great poker movie!
Casino Royal?! Classic gambling movie, could have at least been in honourable mentions
I know right ! It's about winning £££ so the 'villain' can't fund his projects, this was a stand out for me and personally it should've been on the list!
They said in the beginning that if the underlying plot is gambling then it doesn't count
I know, but it isn't in the top 10, just featured.
***** Not a movie about gambling.
brandonisfu stupid reason to leave it out. The whole movie depends on gambling
one of my favorite "gambling" movie is 13. The main focus isn't exactly gambling but it's still awesome
The Cooler was a great movie, reminds me of downtown Vegas. The poker movies and pool movies weren’t really gambling, more like con men. 21 was good, and it was based on a real story. Same w Mahoney.
No "Casino"? That's a shame... Rounders are my gambling-movie sweet-hearts
Casino not really a gambling movie. Its a mafia movie set in Vegas.
@@Romans8-9 You are right. But, that scene with Joe Pesci where he is waiting for his wining card on the table show the whole hell that was going on inside the gamblers mind and soul. That is one of the key-scenes in that movie, for me, at least.
star wars episode 1-3, because George Lucas was gambling with his career, and lost.
third was pretty good though
The third one was a redeemer, the rest of the prequels were garbage
RyBread564 His career seems fine... merch is still making him millions...
dying hahahaha
Yeah even though George Lucas was a billionaire after episodes 1-6, he actually sold the rights to Disney and made a shitty 4 billion $ extra, he's never gonna hit $10 billion, only like 8 or 7 billion.......what a loser! :P

Can someone teach this lady to say 'croupier' properly?
John Johnson it was even in the friggin clip. Drove me nuts
Hustler was great, but The Gambler with Caan was an incredible portrait of an affliction with human frailties 😮
I would put the Hustler #1, with The Sting, and The Gambler {Caan}, two and three, in either order.

Kevin Spacey, that's why!
(but seriously 21 sucked donkeys)
Niny Gogy
Indeed
In my opinion "Two For the Money" should be in top 5.
Where's Casino Royale ?
Are you fucking stupid? I see too many of these comments...
Well Bond did gamble the government's money. If he had lost then the British government would have funded the terrorists.

There is a great book on Amazon called "how I stopped gambling", it is well worth a read for anyone trying to quit gambling

Nah

21 sucked
matt fahringer nice comeback!
+31FilmTalk Yeah the book is good. They fucked it up adapting it.
The Hustler. What a fucking awesome movie that is...!
Why don't they upload their videos in HD?
From what I understand they pull their source material from places that don't have the clips in HD
Because the source material is not in HD, making it a useless thing to do. They do it when all the videos in the clips are HD however.
It takes a some time for UA-cam to stream in HD just look at their old videos and they are in HD
Kingpin!
"CASINO" is the best movie ever and must be top of the list because of its excellent script and multiple genres.
false.. rounders should be number one.
Bobby Manna. You haven't seen Casino then.. its a multi genre movie Robert.
Leslie Derek Ive seen it and although i agree it has a strong gambling presence in the film and it tells you how casinos operate etc... thats just the backdrop of the film..
The film is about O.C
You ppl should also see 21 and i forgot the movie name in which a man gambles his wife
Number of genres a movie belongs to isn't criteria for how good a film is
