@@lensandpaws I have got the sx240hs. Shame they didn't put raw in them as they easily could have. Still takes surprisingly good photos though for a small sensor. .
Great info! I like your photography style. It's awesome to find those gems from the golden age of digital cameras, which I consider roughly 2005-2018. The number of cameras released in those years is insane! So many models to research. I'm on that hunt now. 😀 The one thing I wish they had developed back then is USB charging. The whole fun of these cameras is that you can stuff them in a pocket/bag and carry them wherever you go. When you need to worry about accessories like proprietary chargers or extra batteries you lose some of that freedom.
I have the Canon G12 and is still using it. Great camera with yhe kast of the CCD sensor. I also have the Lumix LX100, another gem of a camera. Still using it after 10 years. Both both the caneras new.
The SX220-230 is a very pocketable and versatile camera. I had one and liked it, but they are so prone to dust getting into the lens and sensor area and it's almost impossible to get rid of it.If you're thinking about getting one check carefully before you do.
Old cameras interest me way more than new ones. Its not like I'm going to be shooting billboards, and with photography my goal is to just whip out my camera when I want to capture a memory or when I just feel like taking pictures, that are reasonably good quality. Also unlike some of these youtubers I very simply don't have 1000€ to just spend lol
2 of the best ccd pocket cams before 2011 were the F30/31fd and the Canon S95 all use a 1/1.7" (7.5x5.5mm)ccd and an honorable mention is the F50fd (super ccd 1/1.6 (8x6mm)for size, speed, and lower iso performance up to 400. The color nod goes to the fuji's. If you go a little larger in size, the fuji XF1 & XQ1 are very close to the top for a 2/3" (8.8x6.6mm) and under. I don't think there are others this small that give as good results. I base this on owning around 75 different pocket models over 2 decades starting with the fuji F10 in 2005.
informative video. I must admit I'm a budget photography enthusiast myself, I've added your channel, it's always good to connect with other likeminded creators.
I would also add the Panasonic Lumix GF series. I have a GF1 w/ 14mm pancake lens and it has been awesome. It was cheap, interchangeable lens, pocketable with normal clothes, and the pictures it takes are full of character and it is a joy to use.
I regreet to have given my old Ricoh GRX as it had unique features in a very compact size... Interchangeable captor & lens system! Nowadays I use only small cameras such as mft system or 1" Pana TZ100... and weatherproof P&S like the Olympus Though serie: I own the TG860 which is perfect for beach, dive, snow and rain! With a 24-120mm eq and a flipping screen in a quite pocketable size for less than 100€ it's a gem of a camera. And some filters are really cool: mirror, puzzle, B&W...
Hey thanks for the tip! I didn't know about the tough series and the 870 seems like a good fit for me on my budget. I'll definitely be on the lookout for a good deal on one
I have got used Lumix GF6 with 14-42 power zoom lens, well its kind of compact micro 4/3 camera and I got it for 75 euro, I can put in the bag one more battery, usb charger and few micro sd cards, I think it is a great camera along with GM1 which is even smaller.
Thanks for an honest view of affordable cameras. My OMDEM5 II has ongoing video issues and I am looking to go smaller. Does the Fuji XQ1 shoot video? What is your suggestion on the best pocket camera with video. Thanks again!
My pleasure! I think videography is not a strong point of the Fuji XQ1. I heard that Lumix GX85/GX80 has quite decent video capability. You might also check it's equivalent.
What is the recipe for getting the fujifilm pro 400h recipe on the g12? 🙂. Also, please I would like to know how you do to get the blooms from the lights you showed?
The G12, power on to shot speed? And raw write speed? Are they relatively quick? I know the Nikon p7000 series was rather slow (I had one) wondered if the G12 is better?
I haven't tried any Samsung cameras yet. As far as I know, the Samsung EX2F was marketed as a high-end compact, replacing the EX1. That probably says something about it. Personally, the more control I have to customize my JPEG output from a camera, the better. But your preference might be different, and that's cool too!
The compacts may beat the overpriced Ricoh GRRRX in value, but they can beat the latest cameras in mobile phones? The phone cameras cost nothing since we already have the phones. They can take excellent pictures…and videos. And certainly pocketable! ;-)
Absolutely! I'm a big fan of my old iPhone 7 camera. It's kind of insane that it can record 4K video, right? But there are times when you want more control and customization in your shots, something not all mobile phone cameras can handle, especially if you're going for that film look. And hey, some folks just want the vibe of holding a real camera instead of a mobile phone. Either way, it's cool! :)
I have a Nikon Coolpix s3500 and I hate the colours it produces. It's all too saturated imo, too kawaii. I prefer using my Sony Cybershot DSC-W710 instead. The image quality is slightly worse, but the vibe and colour are better imo
I don't think the powershot sx230 hs. shoots Raw.
Yes, you're right. I was mistaken about that. I'm sorry
@@lensandpaws I have got the sx240hs. Shame they didn't put raw in them as they easily could have. Still takes surprisingly good photos though for a small sensor. .
Not unless you throw CHDK on it.
@@JessicaNeidingHaverly I've read about this but never tried it. Is it easy to do?
@philby1 It can look a little daunting and like a foreign language, but it's fairly easy!

Why is the choice of cheap compact cameras so expensive and limited now??

Now there are new om system TG7 and Pentax wg 8 and wg 1000, nice cameras. Check them out
After this video the prices for these cameras on eBay skyrocketed!!!!!
The lumix LF1 is the same camera as the Leica c but wearing a different coat. A lot of Leica compacts are made by Panasonic
Pocket cameras are hyped and expensive. Dslrs however are dirt cheap. Same is true for bridge cameras.. 😊

Interessting video. Like older compact cameras too :-).

Thank you. I really appreciate it :)
Why show the photos edited? What good is that? Doesn't give a realistic interpretation at all.

I believe both the G12 and P7000 are more or less the same in that regard :)
Like the information but wish there was more sample pictures and videos instead of filming the camera
I use a Fujifilm F300 EXR ❤
Thanks for making this video, I am so tired of the hipsters making their x100v videos. Also I like the images you take
Same here, my friend. Not many people have $1000 to spend on a camera, but if anyone has that, good for them :)
how about samsung ex2f? is it any good?

For me, Nikon wins because of the free editing software program. But, 20MP is a bit much, so I will look for a older one than the P7000.
Thank you.
Good luck, and may you find the treasure you're looking for! :)
mini cameras are more expensive than my phone😅😅😅
After watching this video, I will looking for my ancient camera in my warehouse
Nice! I hope you discover a treasure that you didn't even realize you had :)))
insane that cheapest listed WORKING SX230s are at like $100+, and the G12s are at like 200-300....
