Serena, I am so PROUD of you! Girl, you’re just so freaking AMAZING!!! I just got finished fixing my kitchen sink faucet, and did a happy dance because it cost me only $18 instead of over $100 because I thought I had to buy a new faucet. Then I sat down and watched this video of you building a deck. If you’d seen me dancing around like a fool for literally screwing a new faucet head into my faucet, you would’ve thought I needed to be committed.😂 You are an awesome, amazing, and inspiring woman! I have a bathroom that I want to remodel. You’ve given me a push to think about doing it myself. We’ll see. I still haven’t layed my vinyl floor in my other bathroom. 😂
Good and Happy Sunday Morning Karen... The way you expressed yourself in this comment put a big smile on my face. Good for you. Too bad I have to hire someone to fix my kitchen faucet and plumbing 😔 Have a blessed day 😊
What an awesome job you did! I love the step by step narrative. Always measure 3 times b4 starting so you get it right. That won't set you back in wasted time. It looks sturdy as heck.
Wow, you did an excellent job and it looks absolutely beautiful and very sturdy. You have every right to be proud of yourself. I also have always loved carpentry all my life and as a kid, used to help my dad with some of his projects around the house. I am a seventy-five-year-old grandma of eight and a great-grandma of three and am still doing home improvements. I am fortunate that my grandkids enjoy helping grandma and we have a lot of fun. Right now, we are in the process of doing finish work with our shed so they will have a "fort" to play in when they come to grandma's. Painting is next, then decorating. A wall mounted tv, airconditioning and snack bar is last. Love your deck and think that we might also tackle that after the shed is complete. Thanks for the tips.
Hi Serena! The deck looks great! You are so talented, what a warrior, you never give up. Love all your projects, always look forward to your videos. Enjoy your vacation and be safe.
Funny story, but when you uploaded the video, we were going for a morning walk (it was morning for us), and I could choose to go out after 3 days of being sick or watch your video. 🙃 And I seriously thought about watching it before 😆😆, but I persevered, so now I'm here watching it! You've done a great job. Congrats!
How impressive!!! Serena, your projects are always so inspirational and amazing! I appreciate how you point out your mistakes, too, and how you correct them because I'm sure to make mistakes along the way most of the time. And look at those biceps! Girl, you are showing off some serious muscles!
Wow What a Beautiful Deck you Built. This is Amazing, you had ups and downs and you Tackled it. Now you can get into your sheshed much easier and should last for years. Thank you for Sharing.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Such an awesome video! Your honesty and openness is so refreshing to see. Every build has a hiccup or two and you handled it so well for a first ever deck build. The finished deck is a great addition to your shed. Thanks for using TuffBlock :)
I am in awe! You are so talented and amazing! Thanks for sharing your DIY projects. It's so cool to see a woman doing this work and explaining the process. I think this is still above my pay grade.
Loved thr video! I also appreciate you showing where you went wrong and how you corrected it. I also like how you are ok with everything not being perfect.
I am SO impressed! Your attention to detail is remarkable. You've demonstrated the differences between a cheaply built deck and a well-built deck. If anyone questions the higher price that a seasoned professional would charge, it's for those small details like remembering to use wood preserver on each fresh cut. Or the extra screws to reinforce joints.
WOW! WOW! WOW! 😮 Amazing Serena! Great job young lady! 👏 I like the color of your deck... I wish you were my neighbor. 😅 Thank God for "Transcript" I go back and read anything I may have missed.
You are absolutely amazing woman with your talent that is so nice 😊 I see that something’s were a challenge but you master it and you are right you really do learn from your mistakes great job Serena you done it well and sturdy 😊
I just build a deck with my mom for our pool and it was so fast. We used concrete blocks as we build on the grass and you shouldn't lay wood directly on a potentially wet surface
Serena!! So proud of you Homie!! Never give up, never surrender!!! And... next time's drinking game take a shot EVERY time Serena says wood preserver 😂🤦🏻♂️🙏. Ohhhh I couldn't resist!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Really great video. ❤ Your explanations are clear and understandable. I like that you talk about your mistakes because we all make the same ones and you show how your corrected them. You make me believe that maybe I could do it too! Love all your videos. 😁
You could have edited out those mistakes but you were humble enough to learn from them and we got to learn from your mistakes. You have a new follower for life! I'm even going to patronize your sponsor! One quick question: I heard somewhere else that the grain of the wood should be a rainbow not the smiley face. Is this one of those rule of thumbs where smart people can disagree?
Enjoyed watching you build your deck. You may want to put some screening at the sides of the deck to kept critters (ground hogs) from nesting under it.
Awesome job. I'm inspired. I need a shed in my backyard. My uncle just suggested those posts. He says we can build a shed on top. Also, your filters in your house are huge. I've never seen them so thick. Mine are like 1/4 the thickness lol
I know, right?!?! I don't know how I furnace got so bulky! And yes, you can totally build a shed on top of those deck blocks. I'm thinking of making another low deck on the ground to put under my gazebo!
Paver base is not the product for flower beds. It's meant to provide a level surface for pavers. For your flower beds, use a good landscape fabric to block weed growth, allow good drainage, and prevent root rot.
It's gorgeous!!! You did a wonderful job. It looks so sturdy. My one concern is the safety of the slabs at the bottom. If I'd step between the slabs I'd probably fall. As an older person we are very aware of falling. Thanks for your consideration of this.
Good point. I was actually going to add more soil or mulch around the stones so that the are "set" into the ground..just didn't have time to do this yet! But that's what I was thinking too. They need to be embedded.
@@ThriftDiving I was thinking more about it later. You've probably pored cement which I'd like to do. One long slab would be nice, but that's a project for another time! Maybe you have something already that I could watch.
Have you done a final tour of the inside of your she shed? I would really love to see it.I'm seeing your videos for the first time and I am in awe!! You are amazing! Link of tour please! 😊
The DIY progress is always appreciated and inspiring but kudos on the workout progress. Those guns look fully loaded. Pressure treated lumber aint the only thing cut in this video lol
Glad you added the supports even on your small deck! Yes it is fine for walking but what if u need too dolly in a frig for flowers or large storage armoire one day? ❤Nicely and thoroughly done!🎉
Awesome deck TD.!. I think you were being a little hard on yourself , remember your do not build decks frequently and your end result looks amazing.. Now how about the wrap around porch for the back of the shed...lol. More please!
Very nice deck but to many steps involved; for a small space like that the company should create a pre-cut kit for the average homeowner. Everything you work on turns out fantastic and you're a joy to watch. 😅😫☺
I noticed you decided not to mount your deck directly to the frame of your shed. It may or may not shift in location due to the size of your deck. Love your track saw.
You're right, I'm not sure what it will do when it shrinks it absorbs water. But I feel like I built it so strongly that whatever we shifting the wood will do, this deck can withstand it!
I know nothing. But this seems like overkill? this deck could have been so simple, it seems? I will do one using cement blocks, not all that gravel and digging. Something simple, pretty much a palette-like skeleton and wood overtop, or cement blocks and wood boards forming a small staircase.
I'm okay with overkill. I would rather "over" engineer it than to create something that is destroyed in 2 years. I'm happy with this deck and I bet my entire family could stand on it and this thing ain't movin'! LOL
Thank you!! I am SO proud of it! It's now ready for stain so I'm trying to figure out what color! I'm thinking of keeping it natural, but we shall see!
Blog post is coming soon! :)
Love it!!!! You are the woman👏👏👏❤
Serena, Awesome deck. Congratulations!!!
Excellent job. I appreciate your honesty on mistakes. Hopefully, it will save me from making them myself. Thank you.

Beautiful 💐🌺🌷🌼
Girl, you are goals for me. Even when you mess up , you will stop, think or research and reset. God is blessing your mind, heart, hands, and spirit.
A sketchup tutorial would be a good video idea in the future!

There is NOTHING you can't do. Such a capable gal! Wonderful project.

Serena, you are always right on time! I've been trying to decide how to build deck or steps for my she shed.
Yay, glad I could help!!!
Awesome! And you do it all with a beautiful manicure! Rockstar! 💅
Just amazing work. Congrats on another achievement.
GREAT JOB Lady❗️👍🏾 U're such an inspiration for women of all ages....We can do this❗️💫
I just build a deck with my mom for our pool and it was so fast. We used concrete blocks as we build on the grass and you shouldn't lay wood directly on a potentially wet surface
Thanks for including so much detail about the actual process of building these things - really helpful for a newbie like me
You are so welcome!! I hope it helps anyone else looking to do a floating deck!
That's so amazing! So much math and hard labor! You never fail to impress me! Kudos woman! 👏🇨🇦😀💐
Whew! A lot of work that paid off with a lovely end product - your deck looks great, Serena. Congratulations!
Serena!! So proud of you Homie!! Never give up, never surrender!!!

Wow you did it. I’m so proud of you!!!
Fantastic!! It looks amazing 👏 😍
Well done to you, brilliant work. I wish I had the strength to do what you did and all the fantastic tools you have, I'd love them all. Lol 😁

You did an amazing job, everything looks great!
So glad I found your project! You've inspired me to build my dream shed. Thanks for showing the solutions as well as how you got there.
You did that? You built that terrific deck all by yourself? Wow! I am impressed! A great job.
Enjoyed watching you build your deck. You may want to put some screening at the sides of the deck to kept critters (ground hogs) from nesting under it.
Awesome! Great job! Enjoyed learning and watching. 💞
I never thought of that... that sounds awesome 😊

🤣 You noticed!! Yeah, the guns were blazing! The gym is my sanctuary! Thank you for the awesome comment! Lol
What was the total cost of the deck?
I used to live near "Red Clay Rd" in Laurel, Md. I totally understand about the clay!
🤣🤣🤣 so you know, for sure!!! I could probably make some pottery from as much clay as we have in MD!
Glad you added the supports even on your small deck! Yes it is fine for walking but what if u need too dolly in a frig for flowers or large storage armoire one day?
❤Nicely and thoroughly done!🎉
Exactly!! That deck has got to hold it all! :)
You did a fantastic job. I love it!!
Beautiful deck!
You are amazing... nice work.
Awesome deck TD.!. I think you were being a little hard on yourself , remember your do not build decks frequently and your end result looks amazing.. Now how about the wrap around porch for the back of the shed...lol. More please!

Awesome job ❤
Very inspirational!
Truly inspiring.
Very nice deck but to many steps involved; for a small space like that the company should create a pre-cut kit for the average homeowner. Everything you work on turns out fantastic and you're a joy to watch. 😅😫☺
What a fantastic video
Love the deck, just wondering if you plan on adding handrails. I would love to see how to add them in a video..
My uncle suggested I add rails and a roof. 🤣 Who knows, maybe I will....??
Wow! Can you make a video about how to use Ryobi power tools?
You are amazing 👏
Wow, great job on your deck. But, uh what do you put in your hair because the curls are on point.
You did a great job there. 👍🏾👍🏾Will you be painting or staining the deck?
Awesome!!!
very cool!
I noticed you decided not to mount your deck directly to the frame of your shed. It may or may not shift in location due to the size of your deck. Love your track saw.

Yep because clay soil is only in Maryland! Nope it's everywhere
❤❤❤
Also am a Green Day-er ! Love that Mike !
❤
You shouldn't have used pea gravel

What a smashing cool video. Massive thumbs up
Thank you!! I am SO proud of it! It's now ready for stain so I'm trying to figure out what color! I'm thinking of keeping it natural, but we shall see!
Obscenely overbuilt
Ha! I am totally confident it shall never fall. 😎
Yesss! You are very skillful 🔥🔥🔥
Great vid , Your bellybutton is really nice , is it an innie or an outie?
