I main caster, and I raid with all three, so I'd just like to give my (summarized) two cents. RDM: DPS king of prog and utility, hands down. Unli res, a respectable self cure for emergencies, and great mobility makes the job perfectly fit its jack of all trades archetype. It's just right that it contributes the least amount of personal/raid dps among casters. Any more and it would undoubtedly be broken. Also the easiest caster to play rotation wise. Pick this class if you were the last one to decide on a job in your static. SMN: Mobile resource machine. MP is the least of your concern - you need to keep an eye on two DoTs, Further Ruin charges, Egi Assualt charges, and pet position (sometimes the server doesn't play nice). Works with a two minute rotation cycle that gets completely screwed up if you die. Most complicated to learn, and only has two stubby legs to rely on for movement, but comes bundled with a battle res, and an amazing raid buff in Devotion. You get a big ass dragon and firebird though, so what's not to love. Pick this class if you just want to speed level as a SCH (lol) and feel halfway towards a MCH. BLM: The 50 cal turret. Makes things go boom. Good BLMs are up there with good SAMs for top personal dps in the game at the cost of offering almost 0 utility. Rotation sucks balls until you get Aspect Mastery at lvl 72, which becomes straightfoward but extremely satisfying afterwards. Nothing like making the sun explode on your enemy's face. Thrives on extensive encounter knowledge so you know exactly when and where to plant your ass and go to town. Sadly doesn't share optimal gear unlike the other two. Pick this class if you want to see 6 digit Xenoglossys. Personally, I'm very happy with caster balance right now. All 3 are very viable, and bring their own special mix to the party. Also, please don't forget Addle exists. It's such a good skill. (Edited for spelling)
Legion very good analogies of the casty bois lol. Personally, I’d like to see a slight boost to BLM single target damage over SMN. I will say I LOVE the changes they made to aoe damage fall off.
'balance'.......When SMN have everything from DMG, REZ, Raid wide utility, versatile (out of the 3 casters SMN can pretty much move around with dots and such) all the while having a really really little less dps than BLM (who have to work hardest out of all 3 to do proper dmg)

As a RDM main I've been praised quite a bit for being able to save a run from turning into a wipe. My favorite being during a fight with Ultima at the end of Orbonne Monastery. I was in Alliance A (and most of my Alliance was new to the Raid) at the start of Ultima's "Ruination" phase, and Alliance B & C were both pretty much fine, having each lost only one person, but my Alliance got decimated with only to people including myself left standing (the other survivor was a Bard). I was able to get 5 of my 6 downed teammates (sorry Ninja!) starting with our Tank & Healers back on their feet in time for all of us to get into the barrier being created by Mustadio, Agrias, & Thunder God Cid, and then I got the poor Ninja back on their feet mid-Ruination. Not long after that, I saw comments like "Red Mage best job." and "I think you mean rez mage" popping up in Alliance chat. I got 5 Commendations for pulling off that rapid mass-revival. Getting that kind of praise and recognition made me feel so damn good too. :)
Yeah they're really allowed to spam it lol, as SMN I usually just get the tank and healer back up and let them take care of the rest because I don't have enough time or MP
Thank you for these videos! I am by no means a high end player but i still like to push myself and they help get a good idea of they feel. Working on a second character and trying to figure out one of each type of job to level on her so these are helpful. Most jobs on my main I level and then dont really play.
Red Mage is a good option for something pretty consistent as far as Caster DPS goes. And your parties will pretty much always love having you around even if you're not doing the ideal amount of damage for a RDM just because of the fact that an RDM can save a party from what would otherwise be a wipe if the party's Healer(s) go down, the RDM can get them back on their feet almost instantly (they can rez people even quicker and more rapidly than even dedicated healers can, if those Healers can't use Swiftcast to do so yet, since rez spells tend to have a 10 second cast time without use of abilities like Swiftcast or Dualcast). I personally love playing RDM so much that it's my main Job and it most likely always will be.
Definitely solidified my love for RDM Been torn about which healer I should play though as I want this to be my main role. We need one of these for healers please!
Titan-egi is extremely powerful if you're duo-ing with another dps, or in another 'no-tank' situation. I'd say summoner is probably the best tank that isn't a tank class using Titan-egi, especially with the ability to raise your other party members. Of course, you have to do a great job damaging to do this since you don't have any threat gaining skills, and without a healer or RDM as your duo-partner, you're gonna be in trouble if the battle goes on too long and your titan shields aren't lasting the full or near-full duration. Of course I realize that I'm talking about a type of gameplay that is extremely unpopular and can't do any recent content :v
Your french was actually very good for the most part. The one big one I will point out in case you are actually looking to learn is Coup, which is pronounced Koo

The beauty of titan egi is there are times where there are raid wide damage that can't be avoided, and it's perfectly possible to pop titan, pop your barrier, and switch back. The barrier stays even if titan isn't out
Thanks! Downloading the game right now, kind of feed up with all FPSs and MOBAS i have been playing the last 10 years, time to go back to MMORPGs. I like to play mages on these games, and this Video was a good help.
As a relatively new player by comparison to my WoW experience since I started playing this game at the launch of Shadowbringers and have not looked back since, the comparison of Summoner basically being every single WoW Warlock spec combined is very apt, but I do think there is one other caster it deeply reminds me of: Shadow Priest. The Trances remind me of going into Voidform, that rush of just being able to chain spells constantly whilst watching your DPS numbers rise by insane amounts the whole way through, culminating in massive bursts of damage. Black Mage is definitely Destruction Warlock with no pets but even larger explosions, just sadly not the beloved and hated (by clothies) Chaos Bolt.

I haven't raided on BLM ever since I unlocked RDM, so I can't comment on it - however, I haven't wanted to join groups as BLM mainly because in my head, strategies will likely be warped to accommodate for a BLM (I generally don't want particularly want to make a group that I just joined to do that). My static just treats me as a melee but once I get the hang of the boss fights, I get quite good as saving procs, swiftcast/triplecast and clever placing of leylines and aetherial manipulation ;)
You could always join at the start of a new tier, then your strategies get built with every member of the group in mind from the start instead of having to adjust them later ;) Well and as Alexander said, you learn to be somewhat more mobile. And worst case, you can always play a BIT suboptimally. EVERYONE has to give up on a tiny bit of dmg sometimes to get through the fight, it's fine to do the same on BLM. Sadly, some BLMs exist who think they are entitled to the whole party playing around them to accomodate them, get healed for standing in every AoE and so on, dropping the group dps notably just to have more personal dps. But as long as you don't behave like that and accept that sometimes, you also have to adjust, it's fine :)
