A friend asked me what settings he would use to get a capture of a ceiling fan in motion to make it look like it wasn't spinning. I thought about it for a moment and told him to turn the fan off. Turned out just like he wanted it to!
Most of what i did throughout my years after the film days has been portraiture model portfolios aperture priority 3D focus tracking . Thanks as i never was good at shutter priority. The tip about making people vanish i wish i had known when i took some shots of the globe at the Worlds Fair 50th anniversary in Queens, NY.
Fabulous as always.. When I come to Vegas I am bringing my CANON with me so you can play with it and maybe do a video with it for us CANON people.. But this was an absoolutely fantastic tutoiral and I will watch it again WITH my camera in hand.. also with my little Sony !!!! Thanks again James
I am so glad I found your videos as I struggle to understand some of the technical concepts. This video is great and the only part I am slightly bemused by is the last tip about how to make people disappear. Why would they disappear rather that appear blurred ?
Do you use a lens filter during your video clips when you’re taking into the camera? It looks kind of muted and more “cinematic” and with less contrast. Sorry if my terms aren’t proper - I’m still learning. Thanks!
Kindly make a videos more indoor shots using shutter priority mode. More sample shots portrait and group shots using same mode w/o using external flash and tripod it is possible to convey sharp images or sometimes blurry outcome. What are the tips or tricks to have a sharp images all the time?
Hey! Love your videos!! In this video you pointed out a specific lense ( a large white one) could you advise me what it is please? I currently only have the stand lense kit with my Sony A6000 and I can't seem to get the right light when needing a fast shutter speed. 😊 I like to take action photos of my dog so Any help would be great 😊
I have never received my cheat sheets in my email. I am leaving for NZ on 14 September 2023 and would love to have them with me on my photo safari to capture beautiful landscapes.
Great video, I struggle with the shutter priority mode as I’ve see a few videos and they say the aperture will update automatically when changing shutter speed but mine stays in f2.8 is this normal or should it change automatically when changing shutter speed, like when I’m in aperture mode the shutter speed changes automatically depending on what aperture I’m in. Can you clarify this to me please. I have a Sony a7iii
I've ordered the Samsung 21 ultra, and I wonder if you can review the Pro mode on that phone. I think you're very helpful witch your review because i learned by theme.
Thanks Michael, nobody is sending me phones yet, but hopefully as we grow the community they will ; ) If I get a chance, I will definitely review any Samsung!
may i know the camera setting for a vlog, Because while making a vlog i have to Move constantly here and there and fie this reason my camera gets darker or sometimes brighter.... Please Suggest Greetings from India
Well, the best thing to do is keep your lighting constant--this will help you avoid the changes you are seeing. If this is not working, then Shutter Priority can be helpful, just set your shutter speed to 2X the frame rate (i.e., 1/50th if shooting 24fps, or 1/120th if shooting 60fps, etc.). This way, the aperture and ISO may change, but the lighting will remain pretty constant as you move around, keeping your face well exposed.
All the modes are faster than manual, and with new cameras you should use to power of the tool in your hand, manual is great if you are looking for a special look to your photo but to get a good photo look to the A/S/P yes Evan program mode if you just taking vacation snaps not every photo taken has to be a masterpiece
What is your favorite action to freeze or motion to blur? (I love super fast sports and long exposure lakes!)
water falls and also amusement rides .. eliminates the people walking by and all you get is the blurred ride..
Yep, Shutter Priority is perfect for those shots!

Need help. I found a lot of noise when using Shutter Priority compare with Manual.
i'm used to shutter than apperture
I kept having banding above 1/500th
Same here did found how to fix it?
Manual is overrated. I use aperture priority or shutter priority most of the time.
I totally agree, Del. I find that the more and more experienced I have gotten, the less I actually use full manual mode. Ironic.
@@JamesLavish I'm not a pro(barely an amateur. LOL) but I discovered this pretty quickly.
@@Del-Canada Haha. We all start there! Keep it up and you’ll be pro level soon enough 😉✌️
