I start from unscrewing a handlebar what makes all operations with fork's cups easier. If you have stock heavy springs with red paint on the one end of them, they are the main reason for harshness of the front fork. Another one is an oring on a damper making forks to stick too much. BMW use little rings, like piston rings on a damper and they just slide inside. You can get a plastic rings from Klempf for ridiculous price. I use W5 oil in my forks, lighter progressive springs with the plastic rings instead of orings and my front fork feels much better, but still a long way to feel like BMW fork.
Very nice bike, I'd rather had your combo of home market tank and seat instead of mine export one., aha if you unscrew pinch bolts from an upper tripple tree ( yoke ) unscrewing fork plugs is much easier.
