I trained in martial arts daily since I was 13 years old, and I still practice today at age 65. I was trained to be a warrior. I started off in the traditional Kobra Kai philosophy of "NO MERCY." As I got older, I learned the value of strength through being gentle and soft. A truly strong man is gentle. Only when there is no choice would I be aggressive. Much love to Professor David and Shihan Kenny
I've trained under some good people. You are legit brother, Love your videos. Need more guys like you out there teaching. Fight smart! defuse it, do not agrovate the situation or you're dead if hes got a hidden blade. Locked up if you get it wrong and go crazy. Be passive in your reaction unless you have to defend.💯🙏🇬🇧
My guy that’s an attorney taught me how to talk with the hands with regard to backing up and holding up your hands in a non threatening position he says it speaks to the jury as to whom was the aggressor in the situation so to this I agree totally Great job sir🫡
Your video somehow came across my feed. So I start watching it and I understand what you are saying. I'm 63 trained half my life in multiple styles. I agree with you 100% always pull back and manipulate the situation to your advantage.
Thank you so very much Professor James, I trained under Aaron Banks GoJu-Ryu, he was a wonderful man, and just like you he was very street centrist, he focused on defending yourself on the street. Unfortunately he passed away in 2004. You remind me so much of him. I would love buying your book, God bless you and everyone in your school who help's the everyday person defend themselves from all those crazies out there.
@@JoseGonzalez-gg6rs So very true I had a chance to visit he's last resting place in the Bronx and pay my respects. I was a student of he's for a little over a year, but I learned so much in that time, and with the help of UA-cam I learned all of the rest of the katas up till black belt, cause sensie Banks always emphasized that the art is in the katas"you do them as their supposed to be done " he's words.
Walk away if you can. However, you have the right to defend yourself if someone invades your personal space. KISS: keep it smart simple. I don’t have time to learn a million different kicks and complicated moves. Thank you coach.
I practice Shotokan for years now and what you are saying is a good complement to my practice. You are Totally right. This subject is never discussed by our teacher/sensei. We are very good atheletes, we respect the old masters and the discipline, we are strong and focus but we MUST'NT be crazy ! We MUST learn to Master our emotions ! Sad that I can not go to your gym. I live too far. Cheers. ;)
I have trained in other schools, but I haven't gotten the information right, and I have been following your videos, I am learning a lot more, and I from you and I respect you in your techniques then the 2 schools
I trained under Ed Parker father founder of American Kenpo karate back in the 60s. I am now 77 years old and after watching these videos my interest is peaked once again. Thanks for the great information I’ll be a regular follower from now on.

I love the videos! I don’t have balls of Steele but I’m getting smarter watching your videos. I’m understanding from you that your brain is your greatest weapon. Keep up the great work!
Motion Causes Motion = Cause & Effect. These very principles stated by Prof. David have been around for 1000's of years. He is applying them in layman's terms for our better understanding in their relevancy to differing applications in self preservation. Once again, the Professor and Ken showcase their advanced wisdom as this comprehension and dissection takes much thought to discern and thus create a teachable moment. Appreciate and revel in their imparting of knowledge, for the message IS the lesson.. Spread the word. Ous.
That is propably the most important lesson in combat. In my 7e grade of highschool a green belt in bjj was teaching a whole class of future safetyguys how to get in to knife attacks and how even to take over a gun. It looked really stupid howmany steps he was taking to manage that position. I asked my self what is worth risking your life so bad? Is it worth being the big hero against a weapon? NO is a clear answer to that. And learn to sell it says a lot about fight IQ. Why only 25k watches this. Idiots giving deadly advise be the hero when overpowered should be banned from teaching on any ocassion. Respect
My Uncle & Cuzin taught me the same principles when they came home from Nam, Your reminder is a great benefit, Btw,,, they were from Brooklyn as well, i grew up in Spanish Harlem Thank You
Definitely Kung Fu Sansu techniques in there. New subscriber. Ty. What is your background in, besides just street fighting, if not too personal? Im a Moron. Says Jujitsu in the title. Lol
DAMN RIGHT....THEY TALK ABOUT BLACKO ON BLACK CRIME AND NEVER TALK ABOUT ANGER MANAGEMENT, EVER! THAT IS WHY WE DIE FROM HEART DISEASE CAUSE WE NEVER DEAL WITH ISSUE AND DONT KNOW HOW.
Don't let your ego put you in a grave or a prison cell
Professor is correct , STAY HUMBLE
I know people in both situations. They were attacked, they were not the aggressor, but they were the ones that either ended up dead or imprisoned.
I been watching you , for a year . And what I learned is extremely good .

Meekness is not weakness. It is strength under control. Your lesson is a perfect example of this.
It's art of war "when weak, act strong, when strong, act weak"

This guy can put his food order in at the drive thru intercom when he's still 10 miles away from the restaurant.
"Master your emotion"
No, that's not what he said. It was more like:"MAASTER YO EMOTION!!!"
That's what my grandmother said, never invited trouble it always except.
Gudjob
That's the problem.....everybody got too much pride to sell it. Even if it is a strategy
This guy reminds me of my drill instructor from way back.
DAMN RIGHT....THEY TALK ABOUT BLACKO ON BLACK CRIME AND NEVER TALK ABOUT ANGER MANAGEMENT, EVER! THAT IS WHY WE DIE FROM HEART DISEASE CAUSE WE NEVER DEAL WITH ISSUE AND DONT KNOW HOW.
Damn right ... being killed by our own anger ... and for some, not even realizing.
If I only had you teaching me, when I was younger.
