  • In this episode of HELGA, host Helga Davis chats with choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones, who has made a career of engaging his audience with brutal, unapologetic honesty. His seductive work grapples with provocative themes ranging from sexuality, race, censorship and power to the AIDS epidemic. Jones discusses what it meant to grow up in the ‘50s and ‘60s as a “Black Yankee”.
In this conversation, he reflects on the adjacency of violence to the power of seduction. He also discusses how after decades as a performing artist, the body may retire, but the mind never will.
About the HELGA podcast: New York City-based multidisciplinary actress, singer, writer, and composer, Helga Davis, speaks artist-to-artist with her guests in the return of HELGA, the acclaimed arts and culture podcast.
