I love this set. I loved Model 500 for years and years. It takes me back to my childhood. They started releasing record way back in 1985/1986 being some of the first house/techno records. More than 30 years ago. Really great to see them preform. In 85/86 I was heavenly into hiphop but house music like Model 500 eventually made me switch to house music. I saw few comments about the bad singing. That's how they made their records back then man, it is part of the music. Detroit techno was born out of new wave music at that time. In New Wave it was normal to have voices like that. Model 500 forever.
To me the singing is just part of the vibe, I'm not scrutinizing the actual quality of it. Who cares if it's not top tier. And as a Detroit born and raised early 2000s kid, I'll tell you Model 500 still goes hard. Blasted some Juan and Mad Mike last night driving fast down the lodge!
The Korg looks like an MS 2000... it's probably Ableton Live (on the computer) so it's samples that they're playing- of course mostly samples from sounds he made himself, but on other equipment back in the day way before the Novation was made. I remember reading interviews years ago with gearlists ☺🎶
@@mitchhunter1271 I was just to the right of the stage. I thought I Wanna Be There sounded terrible. Seen them at The Art School about 11 years ago and it sounded great. I still enjoyed it though. I first stepped into the SubClub 29 years ago and agree the sound system is superb. Maybe it was just my old ears!
Mark Taylor aka DJ Vintage Future. In the back you have Milton Baldwin aka DJ Skurge, such a killer DJ. I shortly met both of them for an interview in 2013 at Dimensions festival, very cool and lovely guys. One of my fondest memories of my life.
I'd like to add that back then Model 500 live included Mad Mike Banks as well. It was an astonishing show and bigger in scope than the 2019 one, it even made the headline of an insane lineup. Don't get me wrong though, this three men show is still incredible and I'm really gutted that I won't be able to see them in Rome.
But Juan is not playing anything. Is this man who said he created Techno really a musician? Who isn't he playing music in this video? There is a contest worth $4000 if you can ever videotape and see this man actually playing music. Ouch.
Why, for God sake, would a Detroit Techno God, like Juan Atkins....., Covers, Remix and Re-sample the German TEKNO group, 'Kraftwerk' song "Tour De France"??? Man, that blows me. -- He just thought to be smart, like in Belgium they might prefer German Tekno, instead of Detroit Techno. Seriously a stupid decision.
this is singing, not mc'ing. you don't like it? guess you have kraftwerk and anthony rother too? and basically every electro track? please leave the internet and get a musical education

Seen them at the SubClub on Saturday night! Great night let down by the sound system.
what was the problem? as in technical issues or the actual quality of the soundsystem?
Sub club has a good soundsystem?
Where were you standing? I was there on the dancefloor and it sounded pretty good. IMO Sub Club has the best soundsystem in the country.

Gorgio Moroder is a better version of this........it's a mess.....un unprepared and passionless.

dude, you obviously don't have a clue what you're talking about
it's paying tribute to history ! tour de france was a game changer
Wuhaha
Are you really complaining about a DJ playing Kraftwerk?
kraftwerk are one of the basic influences of the detroit techno sound please google it
Juan Atkins / Model 500, should loose the "Dump / Weirdo MC Voice", what a bad decision that was to make....
Big Thumb down to the MC Voice.
this is singing, not mc'ing.
