In this video, I show the new features of FilmMatch. FilmMatch is a PowerGrade for DaVinci Resolve that recreates the look of 35mm film. I built the PowerGrade profiling a true film stock (Kodak50D). I love the results and I'm sure you'll love it too. Happy filming and happy grading :)

You might be able to cut down on the number of nodes by right clicking on the "balance" node, clicking "gamma" and changing it to linear from there. It's a more elegant way to get the same result; I think it doesn't take up as much processing power either
edit: Also, I'd really reccommend learning about colour management in Resolve. It's basically CSTs without having to apply it to every clip. Again, I really love the look. Great job
Yeah true, thanks for the suggestion. the only downside to your method is that the node would have to be aware of what the input color space is, unless you set the timeline color space to the right color space and gamma, the node might transform to linear non very accurately. I chose to have it like this cause I think it’s easier for the user to actually understand the workflow better :)

Great video! You should also show this powergrade applyed on a ''normal'' internal footage (not prores or Braw) like for example a 422 10bit long-gop Panasonic S, to se how it will react! I'll buy it instantly if it goes well along with internal mirrorles cameras compression

Hello, is there a way to test the powergrade with a watermark or something like that? Your stuff looks great but i've tried a few film emulations and they dont always work as shown with other footage like clog2, thanks

Nice grade but unfortunately way overpriced. Some of you guys really don't know how to price your products. If you sold it for $30 or something, you would multiply your sales by two to three times compared to a much higher price point and also you'd have a much bigger customer base which you could sell more stuff down the road. By making it super expensive, you're literally shooting yourself in the foot. The key to pricing an item isn't just the value proposition. It's also not making someone having to justify the price in their minds. You'll lose a lot of sales when people have to rethink if they should purchase it or not, if it's really that necessary etc.
We get all of his content free, and he put an extraordinary amount of effort into creating this look.
For anyone making money creating content, the price is no problem. If its not justifiable for you, its not for you.
It looks great but what is the difference to cin16 Powergrade?
Whats the best color management options? HDR widegamut intermediate? or SDR rec 709 ?

Hi, thanks for you purchase!! I would white balancing in the Balancing node (node number 6) with the GAIN wheel cause you are in linear. This balancing should not be creative but technical so that you hit the Kodak negative emulation with a balanced image. After the Negative Emulation you can do whatever creative grading you desire. Also pulling keys here is a lot easier due to the color separation the negative imparts. Cheers!

The PowerGrade works with any camera by using the color space transform in the first node. The clip with the man drinking is pocket 6k footage :)

Is the actual Kodak 50D lut also available as a powergrade?
The Kodak50D is the most important node in the FilmMatch PowerGrade. If you wish to create a stand alone PowerGrade with the 50D lut you can do it by using the Kodak50D lut in a node tree of your choice and saving it as a new Powergrade :)
It looks like processed digital footage, not even close to be an accurate film.
Film look has non-linear nature due to a complex of chemistry and light physics resulting in unmatched gamma and color density, unreachable for the existing digital cameras. Digital sample still may be very cinematic, but has no chance to replace a film or claiming to be as an accurate.
