Sheryl Smith is the creator of Tarot-Heritage.com, an online resource for learning. She is also the author of a blog linked to the website where she reviews historic decks from the 16th-19th centuries.
She is a legend in her own right and a champion of tarot history.
Under normal circumstances I do not edit interviews, but because we experienced an interruption, a small amount of editing had to be done but the key content is unabridged.

There were many things I was nodding along, and Madenie was my first deck from Yves, too, which made me fall in love with his work!
When Sheryl pulled out Sullivan's Budapest and mentioned the Rosenwald...you both just have had my tarot heart, that's all I'm gonna say!

What a great interview! So interesting!! I loved when Sherryl talked about the line of continuity from the early Papess to the modern High priestess, it's amazing to think how the archetypes have evolved!! I'll need to look up her series!

I think for me, I acknowledge that the Tarot is many things. Its both a card game and philosophy, mysticism, hermeticism, alchemy, renaissance allegory and romanticism, later evolved into kaballah and adopted by magick orders. The tarot evolution is fascinating and its original nuanced origins don't make it any less special. I think it makes it more so.

It's nice to finally see what Sheryl looks like after reading her articles for years. I think it's lovely how you two joined forces with your skills: you with the technical ability to make this video possible and Sheryl with her tarot knowledge. I've been reading for about 46 years, not quite as long as Sherryl, but it was interesting to hear how she began. I grew up in the Philly suburbs and the only deck that was available at that time at least in my area was the 1JJ Swiss deck, a Besançon style. But the only books I could find were RWS! So my experience was the opposite of hers which was funny. I ended up being self taught since the RWS books were worthless to me. I'm well read and researched, but self- taught. Anyway, very nice interview, I enjoyed it very much. ~ Marilyn
I’m in the Philly burbs too! Great to meat you. I grew up in south Philly originally. I bought my first deck in Garland of Letters on South Street when I was a kid . I love the Rider pack. I also love TDM. The 1-JJ Swiss is a classic! I have a nice vintage version.

@@justinmichaeltarot I grew up in Media, PA. Small world! I should clarify that the RWS books were worthless to me only in that I was trying to interpret tarot using a pip-styled deck. My first passion are pip-styled decks, particularly the historic Italian decks, but I have many RWS and TdM decks as well. I have lost count but I have somewhere between 200 and 300 hundred decks of all kinds. I have learned that the best research is in looking at the cards. It's a life-long passion. Once hooked, it's one rabbit hole after another! Anyway, nice touching base with you. ~ Marilyn

You will be happy to know my Marseille collection is much larger than my RWS collection.I love historic tarot and historic reading. I’m a tarot bigamist 😂

Curious if she knows about Christine Payne -Towler (Tarot of the Holy Light)?
This deck brings in esoteric history into the deck through alchemy, astrology, etc.
Very intense and informative.
Thanks for watching my friend! I have the tarot of the holy light and it is quite beautiful.. Just talking to Sherryl I got the impression that she is not very esoteric. I think her reading style is more along the lines of Enrique Enriquez.. the phrase she used is something like “picture poetry” or something to that effect. I’m glad you enjoyed. "Tarot of the Holy Light" is a in depth resource for me. I feel if you can wrap your mind and heart around the guidebook, you will have such a powerful connection to the tarot that hasn't been personally experienced.

Julianne Victoria and I are doing a personal study of this deck. Very informative! We’ve done two videos on her channel discussing two of the suits.
