  • The NEW 2023 TaylorMade P770 IRONS! We all know that when TaylorMade released the Taylormade P790 irons it was a total game changer. and then when we saw the taylormade p770 irons for the first time it was even more impressive to have those forgiving irons in such a goof looking iron head... in todays video I show you the brand new taylormade irons for 2023... the taylormade p770 irons are potentially the best forgiving taylormade irons yet. should you put them in the bag? let's find out... and let's do it now!

    The P770s look really good. They’ve been on my radar for a while now.
    I’m not playing enough these days that’s it’s worth making changes right now but maybe come January.
    Working hard to get back in shape and start playing regularly again now that I’ve begun to regain my health post a bad case of long Covid!
    4 months into my recovery and my body and swing are a mess.
    Better days are coming though!

    Another great review of a video. Really helpful as I’m looking at the P770s. Not only that I saw you in the waterfront last week and didn’t want to disturb you all. I wanted to thank you for your content I am a veteran of the Royal Marines and was in a really really dark place a few years ago. Golf has helped me mentally being outside the ability to put the bad shots behind and let go has worked wonders for me and family. As you know it’s a bloody hard game. Your videos were the first I watched and made a very hard game approachable and enabled me to gain all the mental benefits that I needed. So thank you and Chris. Happy Christmas and all the best. Agree - after not shortlisting the p770 from 2 iterations ago I just tested these with several shaft offerings and must say first time I left the range saying I loved those clubs - looks, feel, consistency - wow - so much so that though I was not planning on changing my irons I will do so as just enjoyed using these so much. Never liked the p790s and used to game the p7mcs from a few iterations ago but age has caught up. P770 is a really nice in between and not such crazy lofts.

    I was at my local golf store a few months back wanting to hit the Ping i525 irons and was hitting them very well with good numbers and loved them, the fitter put one of the TM P-790 irons in my hand it felt like SHIT! Very harsh and the ball felt like a rock coming off the face, then he put a Callaway Apex Pro in my hands it felt the same harsh way.
    I have played a BUTT load of irons in my 48 years of playing golf and never felt an iron that felt as harsh as those TM & Callaway irons.

      @@darrell3118 I tested both the stealth and the 790s when I hit the stealth for the first time my reaction was o my god they flew like rockets now the 790s wasn't as long but had more control lofts have been reducing while courses have gotten longer hence the need to see clubs hit further. your graphites are longer than steel shafts well usually by an half to one one inch longer to create more speed more distance everything today is geared around distance a7 iron today is going further than a five iron of 20 years ago yet that 5 iron felt in total control you see people struggling to get the ball in the air clubs are a personal choice and I will go for one of the above I can always change the lofts by 2 degrees with the Taylor made irons so the 30 degree 7 becomes a 28 or 32.but will get custom fitted which is a must. not bothered if it takes all day, but I like the idea of a 32 degree 7 iron

    The p770 would likely be the only Taylormade iron I would play. Although the others are beautiful, the added loft just makes them play too short IMO. P790's are too long and some inconsistent hot spots cause distance inconsistencies. These new p770's seem to really reduce that. Beautiful new offering.

    I have been a TaylorMade Person since I had a set of the Burner Bubble irons and the original Titanium Driver. I then went to the R7 Irons and Woods. I now play the M2 Woods, but the Nike Vapor Pro Combo forged face irons. I am looking for a new set, and I cannot decide between the ‘22 p770 or the P-7MC. Now that the new versions are coming out, I have to decide between 4 sets now. I know, 1st world problems. I’m leaning toward the MC, but (QUESTION FOR YOU) will I regret losing that bit of forgiveness for the shaping ability. What is your opinion based on my club history? I am a 15 handicap.

    • @jeremy7818
      @jeremy7818 Рік тому +2

      For a 15 handicap my personal opinion is I would recommend getting fitted. You might find loft and lie adjustment, swing weight, and shaft makes the biggest difference more than 770 vs MC.
      But in the end I would suggest a split set of 4-6 770 and 7-PW in MC (but strengthen the MC lofts slightly in your fitting to best gap with the the 770’s) if you have good speed.
      But it’s all physics in the end. If you pure your hit and have a sub say 105 swing speed go full 770 set as the biggest determinate to lowering your score will still be controlled repeatable dispersion distance. The MC is still just a more forgiving blade. And they demand acceleration behind the ball. And if that causes any kind of off centre strikes regularly you will not be in the tempo that lowers your score.
      Cause not one person you golf with will care you hit a 770 or an MC - but they will notice where the ball is after you hit it…
      770 will still reward the off centre strike whereas MC will penalize it. And you can’t really shape a shot you didn’t pure to start with - that ball will just leave you still working the short game rather than 2 putting twice as much per round.
      A 15 handicap usually means you are 3 putting more than you want or chipping inside 50 yards more than you want. And both mean your 7 and 8 iron are not scoring clubs yet (ie - everything inside 200 yards isn’t a repeatable par 3 for you yet)
      If price is no object - I will tell any golfer to get a full set 770s and full set MCs (lofted to match 770s when pure’d) then practice with the MCs and game the 770s. Then feather the MCs into the bag as (WHEN) your score drops. Consider it a personal reward for improvements. MC wedge, then 9, then 8 etc until you score same or better with the MCs… and that’s probably a multi year playing journey.
      IMHO

    • @ron1546
      @ron1546 Рік тому

    770’s and 790’s are the same club and if your looking to shape shots and hit stingers then your definitely not buying hollow bodied irons. I’ve had 30 years away from golf and I’m hearing 18 handicapers telling me they’re going cut or baby draw a shot 🤯😂………utter nonsense!!! I’m a very low handicap player and I never worry about playing fades,draws or stingers and people need to practice from 150 yards and closer to improve. Course management and short game,especially putting, will take you to a new level. If you play off 12 and above then just practice hitting consistently straight and more importantly playing the right shot
