I LOVE Eric Clapton...I am so happy when I am hearing how this amazing guitarist is such a great singer and deliverer of great songs...Keep it up, my Love... Elizabeth NY~
Free chords for me: Am7- Esus4- E7- F#°- B7(b5)- Em7- F#°- B7(b5)-Em7- Dm7- G7- C- F- D-Ab7- G7- G#(b6)b5- Repeat all at C when increase Bb7. Enjoy! I would post tabs of solo too, but would be very hard here.
How much do I love you? I'll tell you no lie How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky? How many times a day do I think of you? How many roses are sprinkled with dew? How far would I travel To be where you are? How far is the journey From here to a star? And if I ever lost you How much would I cry? How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky?
Many high profile pop and rock musicians have tried to cover Standards over the years, I suppose it brings these great songs to ears that otherwise wouldn’t hear them so maybe it’s not a bad thing . Sadly though most of them including Clapton , Sting, Rod Stewart , Robbie Williams to name but a few just don’t have the vocal talent to pull it off and even though they can afford to hire the best jazz musicians to play for them it doesn’t really save them but as long as it sells I’m sure they won’t care
Actually, this is far better than Aretha’s version (not ARETHIA) She seemed to be unable to sing the standards without going overboard vocally. Skylark was another example of this, especially in her live performances.
He's right. If you've heard other versions of this then this version by Clapton is a huge disappointment. Not only the arrangement which is altogether lacking, but the performance as well. Wynton Marsalis Trumpet solo is great but over that sorry arrangement it doesn't sound very colorful. Listen to classic versions by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Ben Webster, Rudy Vallee, Judy Garland etc. and you'll understand.
Lol another guy seconds the opinion, so it must be REALLY true! I have heard the others. Never said I didn't, never said which I thought was best. Just pointing out that thinking your *personal, subjective opinion* is objectively true, is pretty silly. You couldn't even post proof other than "listen to this, then you'll see" lol that's not how evidence works, that's not how being objective works. So get up off your high horse, take your head out of it's ass while you're at it, and just listen to the music you like. Trying to tell someone why they're wrong in liking a song is one of the most pathetic things one could do.

10,994 meters - depth of Mariana Trench... Although recently I've heard it is even deeper than that! The deepest point could be up to 11034m! :)
