Robert Fripp, inventor of this band in all its incarnations, is shown for 12 seconds in this entire six minute video. Drummer Bill Bruford is seen for five seconds. Its the Adrian and Tony show. Epic bass line by Levin.
A multicolor vinyl bootleg of the Discipline album for me. I got back from Vintage Vinyl in STL on a Saturday evening around age 17. I out it on the turntable with headphones. I never thought about music the same way again.
The more I revisit this 80’s version of the “King” (not Elvis…but these Stalwart Musicians)…I am both in endless jealousy as a musician and in wonderment as a fan. But then I go back to 69 and when for me it was King Crimson and The Moody Blues…as entree’s to ELP, Yes and Genesis…and I enfold myself in that melancholy…and say to myself…no this version of KC Is best. But then there was Red…and Bruford, Wetton and Fripp…and fall into Starless, Easy Money…and woah! All the way to present day…and the 3 drum kit ensemble…and I find wonderment in Mr Fripp’s seemingly endless re-invention of KC. Please don’t stop Robert!
Got to agree. Mr Belew is so excellent and yet buried under tons of dirt heaped upon the music industry by the critics who “flog” the mundane and call it great. Why is King Crimson…in all of its permutations NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?? No need to answer….
This version of King Crimson were fascinating and so ahead of their time. Were they rock? Experimental? Art? Fusion? Who knew. But they were phenomenal.
there's just something about the live version of Sleepless... Bruford's drums is one of my personal favorites of his, his amazing driving time-keeping is just too good
I don't like to say someone is underrated, because I don't know what the whole world thinks about something, but i do know that usually when people talk about Adrian Belew, they talk about his guitar playing, innovations & "tricks"...but i rarely hear anyone talk about/praise his vocals/singing/melodies/lyrics. to me that was always what stood out the most about his contributions to King Crimson, especially on Thrak
@@федяконовальцев He did! Check out the solos to The Great Curve. Regardless, I think Belew surpassed them with his work in King Crimson during this era
Fantastic piece of work! This really shows how the entire band worked so well together. So much going on at once…. but chaos creates order…. and this is a perfect example of it in action.
i am watching this the second time in a row. I've come back to watch/listen to this many times in the last couple of weeks. It's reminding me that i used to repeat this on the CD too. that break to the guitar solo, might be even better here than on the studio album. Man, they were great. I saw KC in 2001 and 2002. That incarnation was also this good.
The director treats Robert Fripp like he's a guitar tech with a guitar ready tuned for Adrian Belew in case his guitar should fail. On stage Guitar Tech. Seat provided.
What happens when a very original and talented band reform with a new member, an exuberant character with vocal, guitar and songwriting chops? A revitalised King Crimson updating their exceptional skills and realising all their potential in a fresh, original way. I recommend the album 5 stars. (By the way, there's no keyboard player in the band. That's Adrian on his guitar.)
No footage of the keyboard player, sad. Ha ha - it's brilliant happy Adrian playing guitar synth...and it doesn't sound crap. I bought the album and assumed it was keys.

One of the great bass players no one's ever heard of
I love King Crimson, and this is one of my favorite songs of all time...
the best incarnation of King Crimson
A bit unfair to Bruford, since this beat is really damn tough to keep and he makes it look easy as fuck.
Fripp has never been a front man.
that freaking slap is impossible. Such a great incarnation of KC.
The second beat is delay. Tony's playing half of it. The other is an echo
'Sleepless' was my King Crimson gateway drug.
Exactly ❤❤
the whole album is great

Elephant Talk for me
@@benhogan6675 Definitely a good one as well. Lately I find myself really getting into 'The Sheltering Sky.'
One of the finest four-pieces ever assembled. Magnifique!

No comparison to the other versions of this band
as great as they are. This is next level.
So many good songs thru out all of the bands time.
I completely agree with this. As much as I love all KC eras, for me, this is by far the best of them all.
Tony Levin just casually singing backing vocals whilst playing that insane bass part...

Adren Belew is the most talented overall musician ever. And he's cool as hell What a band! Love them all
He's my closest friend. And you're right. No one like him. His new record "Elevator" is fantastic at age 73

@@jeffreykinart8858 wow.... that's sorta like touching the sun. Well tell your friend he has alot of fans that appreciate him!
Not since Hendrix had anyone coaxed the myriad of sounds from a guitar like Belew !!!###

How would you even begin to explain this to a Swifty ?
I'd begin by asking "What's a swifty?"
Tony Levin! ❤
he is the BEST
One of the best Crimson song of all time. Live version so rolling💪🏼
everyone keeps deservedly talking about Levin but Adrian needs some love too

I rhink Belew is the all around best musician ever
Brilliant. Still used on an Australian music show of decades.
That bass from "Rage" brought me here.... one of the best bass lines ever!
@@martyk7914 My favourite period of King Crimson. They are back together with Steve Vai now doing the three "Beat" albums.
rage rage rage, ra.ra.rage rage rage.....rrrrrraaaaaaagggge!
no other band could pull this off. and they made it look completely effortless.
the moment when King Crimson became Adrian Belew's band.
It was always a melting pot - why it survived.
Tony's bass playing was so good I thought it was a backing track
a track Talking Heads wishes they could have written, all due respect.😂
Didn't Belew work with the Talking Heads at some point?
@@федяконовальцев He did! Check out the solos to The Great Curve. Regardless, I think Belew surpassed them with his work in King Crimson during this era
Levin's hand is going 100 MPH. Insane.
Fckin the best! Should have been on Stranger Things
God could you imagine actually being there, there's only so music electricity tape can capture.

Needs More Vid on Tony's hands playing bass.
if early Killing Joke went proggy
Hell yeah, reminds a bit of Follow The Leader.
There's massive Talking Heads vibes in this stuff too, with Belew having worked with them prior.
Tony Levin and Belew together w Steve Vai is going to be fun this October!
Genius ! They make us dream but if we are sleepless

Adrian is such a great guitarist... no one ever talks about his vocals skills, and he really nails it there too....
I just heard this for the first time. Im completely blown away, first by Tony Levin and then by the whole band and the song, absolutely amazing ❤
Joe Dart from vulfpeck heard the bass line at 2 minute mark and made a whole career out of it 😂

Cameraman showed Robert Fripp one time, like are you freaking kidding me
Typical Fripp
Trying to remember I think it was Gabs second solo tour Fripp was barley on stage kind of behind a curtain
Fantastic and phenomenal King Crimson exceeds the limits again!!
When the gods are playing pop
Yes,saw them 2 times with this line up. Concert was at Fox Theater San Diego
Adrian Belew is only a 3rd degree Red Belt??
RAAAAAAGE!
Oh, an Aussie 😁
Whoa.
j'adore ce commentaire😁
This has to stand as one of the greatest syncopated bass lines ever/ if not the best !!!###
Its like if Fripp did not exist in this incarnation of the band
Yes and no. He's the armature everything weaves around.
NICE thanks for the upload!
2 of the Underated guys in Music Trey & Adrian! Both are Awesome! Adrian and Especially Trey, who could BLOW the Socks off most BASS Players!
Trey Gunn is indeed an amazing Warr guitarist, but this is Tony Levin playing bass here
O cinegrafista só esqueceu a existência do Fripp mas, tirando isso, excelente

Fripp , Bradford , Belew y Levin . Casi nada...
Whoever filmed this performance doesn't get this band.
