We are Heather, Bradey, Alexa and Chloe. We purchased an abandoned stone barn in the foothills of the Italian Alps and we are working together as a family to renovate and restore this old stone barn into our dream home.
As a homeowner who has done renovations, my advice if you can afford to do it is to add another skylight. You will regret not doing it later on when you are enjoying the beautiful one you just put it. By the way, I absolutely love your videos and am inspired by your tenacity and dedication to excellence in building and how positive you are in this very incredible journey. As well, your children are adorable!!! Well done Brady and Heather!!!!

@@kimberlyenglehardt5770 OH, Duh....probably. I've never really been certain about the floorplan on this home and it seems to always be being revised, but that would certainly make sense. In which case I take it back. If you put one in THIS kitchen, I'm sure you WOULD regret it! 😂
What a difference the skylight makes!
I love how not just the sky is visible from the skylight, but also the trees! A natural and beautiful Italian mural on your bathroom ceiling!
Now one for the master bedroom (perhaps on the front of the house with a view of the snow-capped mountains(?) 🏔💗⛰ & a smaller one for the stairwell ...I'd leave the beams in place to keep the strength of the roof ...there's still plenty of light ...but that means no opening possibility like this one seems to have. I wonder if Brady has created ventilation to the outside for the bathroom as well.

@@beckytritten8569, they're probably going to build a stone retaining wall higher up on the terrace adjacent to the back of the house, something nice looking and strong enough to stop a Rolling Stone (not the rock music magazine). ;)

@@user-kh7uc5be1f, in their first or second video telling about and showing the house they had bought they said it is at least 600 years old, and at least a part of it which was built first, is around 800 years old.
That literally TRANSFORMED the interior space. Well worth the cost. You really should budget for a couple more of those.

When you have money, build another skylight. It would also be good in the future to build a large cistern for the water you will collect from the snow and rain. Make the fireplace energy sistem for heating and hot water throughout the house.A few panels for energy and you will have an ecological
,economical and autonomous house.The place where your new house is has a lot of water, wood and sun, use them.

I was thinking the girls have "opted out" of being filmed so much... just a guess. When my daughter turned twelve or so she even insisted on not being photographed unless it was for very special occasion, and only under her strict specifications. I had to respect her boundaries.

That will be an awesome improvement to your house. I grew up having a skylight over my bed. It wasnt fancy like this one though, so for some years it was leaking when it was pooring down, but at some point it got fixed it and its one of the things of my old house that i will remember forever.

As a home remodel contractor fo decades watching Brady just fearlessly attack sometimes work he would be frightened to do only a few short years ago, is inspiring. And no home remodel choices of installing a skylight in a remodeled bath bring "WOW" to baths more than kitchens, hallways, etc
It's always a mindblower in a bath and Brady has become quite the inspiration.

Please think of a transom window over the bathroom door to let light into hall.
YES!! to the transom window!!! 💗 A transom window over the bathroom door will allow light to spill into the hallway/or next room!! Also, what about poking a couple of holes/transom windows high on the bathroom wall ...the wall that shares over the stairwell.... that would TRIPPLE the effect of that ONE SKYLIGHT .... LIGHT would spill into the stairwell as well as the other side of the bathroom with the transom window over the door!!
P.S. I think "transom windows high on the wall over the stairwell would still lend privacy in the bathroom.

We put tube skylights in two areas of our home (small ranch) one in the small windowless master bath and one in a darkened hall/laundry area and the difference they have made in our quality of life is priceless. Although we don’t get a stunning view, the natural light provided is transformative to our home. I could feel your joy and excitement and can’t wait to see the finished bathroom it will be stunning!

DO IT! The investment will be well worth it. You won't regret having more light especially when you put sheeting up on the walls to reflect light into the room. And the view you gain is phenomenal!

I totally agree with putting another skylight in either your bedroom or on the left of the one you just put in. It will make a huge difference in the amount of natural light you will allow inside your home. Thanks for always sharing with us.
I miss the stone masons so much. What a lovely team. Miss their jokes and humour with Brady while they were working. Hope we see them again. That skylight is going to make a big difference. Maybe you would need a few more of them on that side of the house. Maybe in the kitchen area, Sitting room? It is all coming together beautifully and I agree Brady putting a stone bench up on the terrace and sitting up there early morning with that cup of coffee and looking at the valley below. Those men were very good in fitting that skylight. Have a lovely day.
The kitchen and sitting room are on the ground floor ... but the master bedroom could have a skylight looking out at the MOUNTAINS!!! Also, sometime in the future Brady and Heather may want to put a room over that large terrace with one or two BIG PICTURE WINDOWS!! ...then they could always build another terrace on the other side of the stairs ...so they could connect the new second-story room with their new terrace! Ha ha!! But at this rate...they'll never move in. Hopefully the gematria would agree and let them build ONE ROOM WITH A VIEW!
So glad you have put a skylight in the bathroom. I don’t tend to offer advice but as someone who has done a lot of house renovations i did make a comment in one of the videos about putting one in. Just image having a bath with a nice glass of Italian red wine looking up at the stars! What bliss. I would also really consider a window on the back wall even if it has no view (use frosted glass) that you can open for ventilation. Lack of good ventilation in bathrooms is the number one reason why mould occurs and with 3 ladies living in the house you’ll need it 😂. If you can afford to add skylights to the other rooms you won’t regret it. If the girls are worried about people being able to see in you can get electric controlled blinds thought these can be pricy.

I honestly thought before you said the window is in the bathroom that you were working on a skyline above the staircase. I think the extra investment for one above staircase, even if it is a long skinny one, would serve the purpose over the staircase.
...YES i DON'T THINK THEY SHOULD REMOVE ANY MORE BEAMS SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER ...oop! caps ...anyway the stairwell and the bathroom are right next to each other ...so if they did opt for a skylight it should be between the beams ...like you said a very skinny one ...or transom windows high on the stairwell wall that is shared with the bathroom ...light would spill from that huge skylight into the stairwell with high windows on that shared wall!!
I had a skylight in my master bath once. It was wonderful! Best light for makeup and general ablations. Really wakes you up in the morning and if your’re lucky….moon and stars at night.
