Exactly! I am living proof of this! I was taken of Estrogen because of this study even though i argued that there was no cancer risk in my family! I never smoked, I have been active all my life, I was a happy camper! After being taken off my Estrogen ( uterus was removed years earlier) I have spent more money on aging results, been on numerous meds for osteoporosis, anxiety, sleep disturbances and numerous tests! This video is spot on!

I’m 53 and started HRT about 3 weeks ago. So far so good. I am sleeping better and having less hot flashes. Took about 2 years to make this decision. Left the first doctor’s office in tears , she made me feel terrible for even asking about it. I am with a good practitioner now who is supportive and I trust her.

Be very careful if you go with an HMO for traditional HRT. One year ago I made that mistake. I am 56 and HAD a full head of healthy brown hair to my waist. I started HRT and my hair started falling out within 2 weeks. Doctor said it was not due to HRT. A few weeks later I stopped the HRT and my hair stopped falling out. I lost at least 30% of my hair due to telegen effluvium and androgenic alopecia caused by the shock of the rapid onset of estrogen in my body. Telogen effluvium unmasks female pattern baldness and escalates the onset by 10 years! Dermatologist confirmed. Labs are important and starting with lowest dose and increasing slowly is very important.
    Hope this helps someone.

Exactly one year ago, one of my friends saw me struggling. I felt like something was really wrong with me. I was 53 and all the sudden I was noticing that I had no energy, would fall asleep as soon as I would get home from work, gaining weight, brain fog, memory was changing, my joints were aching all of the sudden, I felt depressed and had no desire for sex any longer. I was starting to isolate and spend more time by myself. I was really depressed because I had addressed symptoms of menopause with my OBGYN and felt dismissed and not taken seriously??? I mean, who do I talk to if she would act like "get over it, it's life". She did not believe in HRT and would not even discuss it with me. My friend saw me slowing down and without asking me questions, started sharing her own stories of what eventually led her to a doctor to help her and led her to Biote HRT Pellets. I was intrigued because she was the same age as me and she could run circles around me. She was everything I was in my 30 and 40's and had lost. I set up a consultation with her doctor October 2021 and started Biote HRT Pellet therapy and I can tell you it was days - not weeks, not months, not years....literally, days I could tell a huge difference. Every day got better and better. I am no longer suffering with all of the symptoms and feel great. Lost the extra weight, my sex life is better than it was in my 20's (which is crazy to me), no more weird moods or depression, no more anxiety, no more brain fog, my memory issues have cleared up, my joints no longer hurt and I sleep like a baby but I have tons of energy during the day and fall asleep when I want to go to sleep and not when I walk in the door from work. It has been LIFE CHANGING. I would recommend to anyone that is going through these symptoms to seek out someone that specializes in HRT and educate yourself and get some blood work done and see if this is for you - because it probably is for you and you do not even know it - please stop suffering - this is life changing and I hope more women will stop "accepting that this is just it for them" and "deal with it" AND they will not fall into the trap of thinking life will never be the same and be your own advocate and go get help. It is not cheap but it is worth every penny to feel like you did when you were in your 20s again - thank you for this video - I wish everyone to live their BEST LIFE. HUGS!!!!

There was a natural hormone prior to the “synthetics” but the Pharmaceuticals would rather find something that would kill some woman instead as long as they could make more money from it! Then $$ were spent on fixing a problem in men (as usual) and women were left out in the cold.

Its very hard for the average woman to be able to receive these bio identicals. You have to visit numerous doctors before you find one that is "enlightened" enough to prescribe them and then you have cost which is usually not helped with insurance unless your test results prove to be off the charts low. I've been on them for years and absolutely think it helps but why should it be such a struggle? Certainly not that way for men and Viagra.

Vicki Noland I use the monthly hormone shot (every 3-4 weeks) and my insurance company pays for part of it -my cost is $21. Insurance company pays for annual blood testing too but they pay exactly -0- for pellets. The pellets were about )$350 last time I had them about 5-6 years ago. They would last 3 months for me but can last up to 6 months. The pellets are cost prohibitive and I can’t afford them any more. However, I feel just as good now with the shots as I did with the pellets. My GYN said the shots are the same thing and are a close second to pellets. It’s worth looking around to find a provider and check with your insurance company assuming you have health insurance.

Im 66 and started bio identical HRT at the age of 50. They had an instant and amazing effect. I take biest, progesterone, pregnalone, DHEA and testosterone. I stopped when I came to live back in the Uk as my sister in law had hers on the NHS. They prescribed biest and micronised progesterone (the same as before) but in much lower doses and didn't prescribe the other 3 hormones. I went straight back to all the awful symptoms and had some issues that I didn't even realise HRT was helping such as incontinence😮 and muscle weakness. I went back to my hormone doc after a couple of months and she tested my hormone levels which had gone right back down. I absolutely will never be with out my hormones again!

They are topical, nothing goes tghrough the liver. Having hormonal test 1x a year, they are made specifically for individual. In pharmacy. My last bone density in summer says SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE BONE DENSITY IN SPINAL CORD AND HIPS. No medical conditions, no medications. Side effects. Smooth supple, thicker skin, better looking then I had in 40s. When I asked doctor who did clinical research in 1990s ,how long to take it. His response. Why would you ever stop. You are so clever Eva…I am a huge fan of bioidentical progesterone ever since my fertility doc had me use it at the beginning of pregnancy. It gets a bad rap but it got me through peri menopause. No estrogen, just progesterone. And the bioidentical Emerita cream you get through Amazon totally works…you don’t need much progesterone to keep things balanced. Dr. Lee’s books resonated with me. Have you heard of him? Adding estrogen when you are already estrogen dominant with corresponding symptoms would have been problematic.

I couldn't believe the photos taken right before and only a few months after. The only problem will be getting the treatment since I haven't been through menopause and I'm only 39 now. It took a lot of work and study and I finally found some answers. Reading books about preimnopause and menopause by Dr John Lee was eye opening. I take a low dose estradiol, a hormone in the female body and I use natural progesterone cream. It does so much more than just protect the uterus. It is a very important hormone and helps your body assimilate all the other hormones. Women start producing it less and less after 30. Do your study and find solutions that work for you.

A few years ago I literally could hear my jawbone cracking. I had headaches, etc. My medical providers at the time were useless. When I asked if it could be bone loss and mentioned that I had done some reading on HRT and if that might help, they looked at me as if I had 3 heads and essentially said HRT was poison. When I dared to say that I had read a couple of books by credentialled (UCLA & Stanford doctors) medical professionals that argued something to the contrary, they treated me like I was an idiot. I note that both doctors were 55+. My solution was to find a more recently educated and more openminded doctor. I sought 2 opinions from younger doctors. The doctor I chose to work with told me not only did they think HRT was a good idea for me but the WHI study was, shall we say, in question. I have been on HRT for 4 years. After the first year when I went for a follow up, my doctor asked if I felt better on HRT and I simply said "it is crazy-talk how much better I feel!" My point here is don't be afraid to trust your gut and get another opinion on this subject.

I am in great health and I look many years younger than 82. It is not about looking younger it is about looking good! I have no intentions of stopping Prometrium 100 mg nor the Vivelle patch 0.05 mg! Wonderful to hear your favorable opinions on this subject. I see the difference with others that do take it.

I'm 59 and I've been taking bioidentical hormones for about 10 yrs. I went on them because I was having hot flashes, wasn't sleeping well, and generally just felt old and creaky. Within a day or two the hot flashes were gone and I started sleeping very deeply without waking up at 3 am for no reason. Losing weight became much easier too. My doctor told me they also have a heart health-protective effect. To me, I'm just restoring low hormone levels to where they used to be when I was younger.

Great video Dr. Rajani. I went on bioidenticals at age 55 (2017). It literally CHANGED my life. I think it's so important for women to completely understand their choices. Most important to reduce the risks and adverse side affects is to maintain healthy weight and blood sugar levels. Finding a doctor that truly understands hormones and aging is difficult. I have a great one, but have never seen such an objective and comprehensive presentation as your video. Thanks for all u do for women. We appreciate it!

THANK YOU For explaining this. I started HRT in May 2023 and has made a HUGE difference in my mood and wellbeing. I no longer feel the need for the anti depressant I've been taking for 4 years. I want to continue to learn more about HRT and BHRT. Understanding the impact of hormones became so important in my life that my millennial daughter started an initiative to talk about, share and inform women (particularly Latina women) about menopause and how to "reframe" "reorganize" "rebrand" the information we've been given. I'm 51 and our mothers weren't taught to talk about this and therefore we don't have accurate information on them (and us). This a new found passion I have and I will continue to educate myself. THANKS AGAIN Dr. Rajani for such a clear video highlighting this topic. ❤🙌

I think I may be a little late to the HRT scene, but have decided to see what happens. After watching your video, I feel much more informed about my decision. I had a total hysterectomy at age 50. Didn’t go on HRT at the time as I think it was about the same time as the big study came out. Fast forward to today…now 70 years old, just switched to a new younger, functional med practitioner, who felt HRT would be worth a try. I’m very active, exercise regularly, and eat a carnivore/keto based diet. I’m looking for better sleep, and maintaining bone density. Sexual activity increase would just be icing on the cake at this point!

After my total hysterectomy in 2013 it was about 2 weeks afterwards I was up 15 lbs without changing my diet and started having around 10-15 hot flashes a day, couldn't sleep, zero libido etc. My skin and face looked totally different before my hysterectomy. I went to a new OBGYN for a consultation, had lab work and other testing done and I still do once a year. I have had the testosterone tweak bcz of acne and more aggressive temperament. Every person is different and thankfully, the Dr can control my Rx compounded by the pharmacist. I started the troches and within 2 weeks could feel the difference!! I didn't need a mid day 2 hr nap,my hot flashes stopped and I started looking and feeling like myself again. My skin looks so much better than other people in my age. I feel wonderful.

My blood work is checked: initial labs prior to the insertion of pellets. Then approximately 12 weeks after the pellets are placed they recheck the testosterone, estrogen and progesterone levels. The pellets are testosterone and estrogen. They amount they place isweight based. The progesterone is in the form of a troche. The entire troche is 200mg. I place the troche under my tongue and it dissolves in around 5 min. The troche is from a compounding pharmacy. You do not need to take the entire troche but I do. It helps with sleep. There is not a specific brand name for any of it. A nurse practitioner does the procedure. She is specialized in Ob/Gyn. I decided on the pellets bc I did not want the weekly injections. Do your research on what you want to accomplish. I was ready to kill myself if I did not get some help. My regular Ob/Gyn was not helpful. She prescribed a patch which I was allergic to and it made my skin bleed. Not a help. I didn't even tell her I got the pellets placed. She can figure it out on her own. I am cynical bc I have been a critical care nurse for 30 years and I expect better from a physician. My NP and Main Gyn Dr are at different clinics. The NP practices at a bioidentical HRT clinic which is located in a neighboring state. I love the positive results I am receiving from the pellets. Insurance does not cover any of it. They cover Viagra but not this. What a world!! Ugh....

Very happy that you´re addressing this extremely important topic. Too many people still think that this is "just" a midlife problem that should be lived through/toughened through, doctors say symptoms depend on too much stress and responsibilities or say to just keep a healthy lifestyle. I´ve just started a bioidentical conctraceptive pill as HRT. Not being in menopause yet this was the only thing I could get when complaining about symptoms that I think might be due to less estrogen. My main reason for wanting HRT is that I lost my grandmother to alzheimers in her 70 ies and she also had osteoporosis. I already have a very healthy lifestyle, I think I´m responsible about my health and I want to avoid (i.e. try to avoid) problems that can be avoided.

I remember reading the HRT headlines in the news about it causing cancer. Right away I stopped myself from taking the medicine to help me through this time of my life. My Dr at the time a very young woman told me not to worry about this because the cancer scare was very much over top and I didnt need to worry about it. Well I did not want to take them anymore so I stopped and then a few years later more reports came out the hrt was not causing the cancer or at least not to the panic that the public was told. Anyway my young doctor said many of the things you were saying and I wished I would have continued my hormone treatment. Now i wish I would have stayed on them. Fascinating video! I am 64, on zero medications. Only take supplements such as D3, B12, high dose C and collagen. Need to start K2. I was greatly influenced by the WHI study warning of cancer risks from HRT, so steered clear. I am still a bit weary since there needs to be more studies and constant adjustments of levels may be more difficult than I am prepared to deal with, especially break through bleeding at this age. That is the only benefit of menopause, no more periods. But the rest of menopause is pure evil. That said, I am in good health and have good skin for my age and will not likely dive into BHRT. Maybe I am missing an opportunity, but seems this would be more beneficial had I started younger. Also, very very few GPs or OBGYNs will spend any time discussing hormones. Menopause occurred when I was just shy of 53. I had a female doctor in her 30s who was completely insensitive about my age, lacked hormonal awareness and impact on weight. She merely chastised me for not exercising enough and gave me the standard diet pyramid chart for controlling carbs. She never even asked me about what I was consuming, which was very balanced and had not changed. The only thing that changed was menopause. Of course, I fired that doctor but frankly finding a doctor with current hormone knowledge and training is challenging. The “in and out” revolving door of fast medicine limits our resources. I do hope this improves greatly. Thank you for such a thorough and thoughtful educational presentation.
