  • Patagonia has countless fly fishing options. Brown trout abound and exceptional fly fishing in lakes, streams and rivers of all sizes is available. In this video we join guide Monte from Magic Waters Lodge on an incredible one day journey to the Patagonia back country, enjoying a long drive through gorgeous mountains before arriving at jet boats to head down stream to fly fish dry fly mayflies and streamers in the lake and river. The brown trout were firing on streamers in the lake and the water in the river was so incredibly clear, allowing us to sight-fish brown trout before casting mayfly dry flies. This was an exceptional day fly fishing in Patagonia!

There are people who are saying a few post-teens have the best fly fishing channel on UA-cam. Agh! No need to compare, but if one were to attempt, there's not a comparison! Thank you for staying true to the ethic. To including extensive shots of nature, particularly some award-worthy shots of Kingfishers (not just yourselves catching fish). To keeping fish wet. And to being genuine ambassadors of the activity. Mine is a spoof UA-cam channel, but this is an honest comment to the people, Jensens, who have helped build in me 1. an ability to catch fish with competence. and most important, 2. a perspective on fishing that is (I hope) for the benefit of the rivers and their fish, and that embraces more than just the stoke that is fishing. The fish live in rivers and to catch fish we have to take care of the rivers. Thank you.

    • @jensenflyfishing

We appreciate all what you shared. We agree because that's our focus and so glad it continues to shine through 🥳 Comparisons are funny thing because we'll never ever win a pop-culture contest. There's definitely a seasons in life aspect and a why we fly fish component - we're not into beer and that lifestyle as you can't fish, film, catalog content, edit and share with your audience in mind at every step if you're always picking yourself up from another bender. Seasons in life and a perspective of helping or inspiring others is much different than stoking the internet - tho the editing over there is exceptional. Maybe in a decade or two the focus will shift to the how to and have at least a bit of experience and acumen behind it to match that editing quality. Thanks again 😊🍻

Very nice, I've fished clear water small streams and had to get on my knees too to reduce my silhouette, it certainly helps. The brownies are gorgeous, the blue button on the cheek of some is something I've never seen before. Great professionalism handling the trout, keeping them in the water while you talk is the way to do it and the camera work as the trout come up to the fly is exceptional!

What are those blue spots on their cheeks?

many brown trout have blue spots on their cheeks, these are simply pronounced due to the tannic water coming out of the beech forest.

Beautiful fishery and scenery but I'm gonna be "that guy" in questioning the integrity of having trout fisheries that are possibly damaging the native ecology. As fisherman we're supposed to support the idea of conservation but here we turn around and continue to stock and support trout fisheries where they don't belong simply because we love the trout and nobody gives a rats ass about the native fish. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Say it as you like but in this case, as most places that stocked trout 100 or 200 years ago, the ship has sailed and the fish are doing as they do in the watershed. New waters? Sure, let's discuss if their impact on native fish spp or the impact of anglers is really warranted in this day & age but to question something that has been for over a century in a country we are not resident of is not your or our decision nor argument to make.

@@bssaassin1900 um, you are reaching and looking for a conflict with someone on your side. This is Chile - would you tell them how to elect a president? To not grow avocados because of the water used in their growth? What and how a country does about its business is up to its own self determination and second guessing from afar on an issue centuries old is so far removed from replacing cttr with bass in our home country it's a ludicrous discussion.

@@jensenflyfishing ok not gonna lie you got me on this one. I guess I could've worded things a bit differently. But I was just trying to bring up the point that people have a long history of tweaking nature to how we want it to be without much consideration for the outcome.

@@bssaassin1900 well friend we humans have done exactly that since creation. Nature has been something to conquer and tame to humans, to use to our projected value through a Dominionistic right since our first breaths. Why should fish and their habitat be any different? There isn't an acre on earth that isn't managed to our projected value of that land. When was the last time you drove a road with no fence? Even in a National Park - is it not a Park just because we've placed the values we project upon it? Even earth's frozen poles have claims and rights that are fought over. We could fool ourselves that the ramifications of projecting our wants and values won't impact nature its functionality but at every turn we impact it. Not one of us is immune from using earth to our herd's values.
