One month in the making, my latest study is finally done! 💥💥 I think we need more diversity for the next one lol. This new series' viability depends on you though, please share the video! Also check out Mai here on UA-cam @yoneyamai www.youtube.com/@yoneyamai
"Copying top artists to learn" is a great idea for a video series. I hope you will continue making these. It's super useful and entertaining at the same time.
@@Birdhouseart That's the same thing. Studying an artist is "copying to learn". The important part is to learn, and not just copy, of course 🙂 When you do an artist study, you try to copy their process, make an art piece in their style and take something from this experience for yourself. But I get where you coming from, people will get triggered by the "copying" term, ignoring "to learn" part. With that in mind, maybe it will be more fitting to use "studying" instead. But it's just semantics, essentially.
@billrazor6591 why does copying references not help when it helps posing and constructing shapes etc. Since most artists these days won't be drawing from their imagination only but copy references
@@sael5084 I never said anything about using references, i don't know where are you getting that from. Artists of all skill levels use references in their work, there's nothing wrong with that. My original reply was about that "studying" an artist and "copying to learn" from an artist's work are essentially the same thing.
As much as I come to watch the skills and technique based videos, these artist and style breakdown videos are a fascinating and useful addition. Not replacement, but addition. You always preach the importance of observation, but as someone still at an early stage, it's hard to look at things from multiple perspectives. Having these breakdowns helps build up a more integrated view of how the artist's skills and decisions blend together to form their style and images.
I don't have any idea about color theory but then I saw Mai's works and was mesmerized by it at an instant. I was wondering how she does this and makes it perfect all the time. But now I do know about how she does this thanks to you Marc. Hope I can imply these tips to my future works 😅😅
Mai is my personal end game when it comes to art. I always loved their flowy dreamy and yes, their color correction does wonders to paint this cohesiveness that magically appears during their art process. Their artwork gives off that "being in the moment" which I love about art itself.
Shignori Soejima. Love that dude. He’s the main lead artist for Atlus games and he’s so good! I love his nior style especially in the Persona games. This is a cool series idea! I should study other artists and see how they paint because I may be confident in drawing but not painting 😬
I love these kinds of videos breaking down art as it helps me to study them better as a casual intermediate artist! Id love for you to continue this series it would help me a lot.
I loved this, please do more! Also, imo it's cool that you made clear that it took a month to do this. At least for me as a beginner this is important because we get used to watch 10 min speedpaints and stuff like that and forget to slow down, getting unmotivated for not being able to do cool stuff fast. Luv u Marc, wish the best for you and please keep going!
I've to agree with many others. This is a great idea. So many artists mention studying other artists' work (not only masters) is a wonderful practice. But to get to experience it through professionals, laid out like this is such a treat! Great work.
Marc, you have mastered two arts; the art of illustration and the art of teaching. You explain things in such a way that they really land and make sense. Thank you always for sharing your knowledge with us!
This is amazing! I have also just discovered Mai works recently and has been captivated by how expressive it is, definitely a great artist to be inspired and learn from.
This is a great series, Marc! I'd love to see you tackle Kan Liu's artwork, or maybe try an artist who does more environmental pieces? Something less anime could also be interesting too.
I was getting a bit worried there, glad to see the video out! Really cool to see you break down another artists style. I'd love to recommend Dave Greco as a potential artist you could study :)
Nice editing on this one! I must say I've very interested in following this series, as the language barrier makes it challenging to learn from Japanese artists' timelapse/process videos. Thanks Marc!
Thank you for this series Marc! I hope you continue sharing more of these. It’s fascinating to learn how a pro artist like you breakdown another top artist’s works. Your videos never fail to help us out with new techniques (not to mention, they’re always fun!)
i've been a hobby artist for many years but i still have no clue whats going on when looking at professional artworks. these videos are great and i really hope you will continue this series. your explanations are focussed on whats important, which other art-youtubers can't summarize so well (atleast for me)
This video was wonderful Marc. Your breakdown and presentation of the subject matter was very easy to understand. I’d love it if you keep making these. Much love to you!
Ces vidéos sont malades, Marc ! Tes vidéos m'ont toujours beaucoup aidé mais celles-ci ont un ''je ne sais quoi'' qui renforcie déjà les excellentes bases que tu nous as données dans tes vidéos précédentes. Merci !
Yes! Please do more of these, I love seeing your analyses of these, they give really interesting insights into different art styles and different ways on how to create different styles of artwork that I never really thought about trying before.
The amount I've improved my art over this one year alone because of your free content is astounding. I only wish I had the time for your course. Keep up the great work
Yes!, please do more of the "Copy top artist" series. It's really great to see another professional break down a process and showing other options on how to approach a technique. This series has been helping me understand these process and really encouraging me to experiment more so I can find my own style.
Haven’t seen something so great and instructional on UA-cam for while! I believe this will help a ton of people (myself included)!!! Thanks, Marc!!! Love your work!!! Do Kan Liu next, please!!! Or sometime!!! 🙏🏽😬
Wlop. Something about the way he is drawing jewelry is just so minimal and mesmerizing. With just few brush strokes you sense a necklace, headwear, bracelet or anything really, and it just works. Ive always admired this technique. And everything else is just so perfect too.
Yeeeessss! More of this series! Watching you trying to learn other styles gives me hope. Your art flow is getting better and better everytime I come back to your channel.
I've recently been following a bunch of key artists with specific abilities and styles I admire and deemed them my "Art Mentors" as I study their styles and reference techniques they use to create a new sense of harmony in my own art. This series you're doing right now touches on that EXACTLY, and you're better at explaining the details and nuance that comes with this process so it's incredibly helpful. Funny enough Yoneyama was also on my list of people I've been really inspired to study but haven't gotten to it yet so when I saw that you studied her work on my IG feed, I instantly had to come back to CLASS. Totally love this series so please keep it going man!
I'm so happy to see this series continue, I love any sort of technical analysis and seeing it applied to these art pieces is incredible! Well worth the wait from the last part with Mika. One of these days when finances permit I'll definitely subscribe to your art course, your YT is truly an invaluable asset to all aspiring artists. Thank you as always Mark!
I love this series so much! I feel like I just gained a whole new set of secret tools for use in my own art! Thank you so much for putting so much hard work into this video, Marc!! It was amazing watching you brilliantly break down Mai's style and adapt your own techniques to it!! You're going to be the most skilled artist ever if you keep stealing all the skills and secrets from other top artists!
I love this series a lot, you're the best Marc. could you do cotoh tsumi someday, maybe their style is much more simpler for a full video, but anyway, I can't wait to see next artist.
Yoneyama Mai's composition is what gets me, I would notice how she nails the composition to help the focus of the illustration and it impresses me all the time! I feel like RinoTuna or Kei Mochizuki's style would be a great video too!
Personally, I would love to see more of this series. The breakdown and analysis of other artist's work is a great way to learn information while seeing it in action.
I have to say that if I saw Yoneyama's art somewhere, I would definately know it's hers, she has such a unique vision that it's hard to confuse it with another artist. Like Mika Pikazo too. Two of my most favorite digital artists (along with Loputyn). Good job on the video! Would love to see a video on Loputyn btw.
I love these studies. I've tried to do exactly this, but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. It's great to see your process and how you observe and recreate each individual feature.
I absolutely love this series of learning the art of other artists. Seeing how you break it down is a great way to learn from cause it puts you in our position of adapting pieces of our favorite artists into our own blended work. It's fantastic.
Marc, this is amazing work as always. But I really appreciate and admire your ability to break the fundamentals that you’re able to see from each piece of Art work. It’s like the building blocks of a skyscraper or recipe to a delicious cake from a cook book. I’m one of your students for your art program and still new to art as a whole, but I have an optimistic outlook for my art journey, thanks again for the content.
I rarely write comments, but I want to say Thank you. Thank you Marc for everything you are doing. For knowledge, for positivity, for motivation. You are not just a great artist but also an amazing person to who I listen with pleasure and gratitude. You keep new artists motivated, you show them that anything is possible, and when I feel down and want to screw it all I come back to you, happens all the time. There are thousands of people who think like that and we all are gratefull ♥
I love watching people do art studies and sharing what they learned WAY MORE than people telling me how I should learn or how to do stuff. There's something that feels more personal and more educational learning together than typical how to draw videos.
Could you do Sakimichan's art from 2020- early 2023? I love the way she does pinups and manages to utilize all the space on the canvas. The way she draws faces and plays around with lighting is so pretty to me and her really high-quality rendered art works are my favorite.
SUPER HAPPY to see this series continue! The art principle breakdown was an extremely mindblowingly useful approach to study artists we want to learn from! Cant wait to see more of these! Potential artists to study: Illya Kuvshinov, mogoon, askziye, Jiuwujiang, hungry_clicker, and KanLiu
I've just seen an interview with her and this video came out in the perfect time😍! I truly admire her for her ability to convey gesture/movements( your points about her style really helped!😍)
actually super nice series idea because we actually thanks to you understand so much about the techniques and art styles and get so much insight thanks to your proficiency! Loved the video!

I've heard the 'masterclass' type thing but I never really knew how to pursue actually practicing these types of things... So thank you and I would gladly love to watch more breakdowns of some amazing artists.
Class made of awesome! Many of these tips will be useful even if someone doesn't want to study this particular style. But the brush update is even more awesome because I was looking for one like this for months now. It's perfect, thank you!

Dave rapoza next
Youhei Takemura (manga cover art)
Maybe Loish?
This series is amazing already, my suggestion is for an upcoming video is @lackism or lack illustrator !!
Hey Marc, could you do Kushinoba Ilya for this series of videos?
"Copying top artists to learn" is a great idea for a video series. I hope you will continue making these. It's super useful and entertaining at the same time.

That’s how i study and apply other artist’s art, and this video just confirmed my work ethics😀
Show us how much you improved. Do you share your drawings?
@@sael5084bro does not want to show you his drawing😂

I swear Marc Brunet is reading peoples mind when he comes up another video. Always gives the best tutorial in time when you need it!
this is my favorite series marc, learning so much and also being introduced to new artists.

I just found Mai Yoneyama after the interview by archipel, and absolutely fell in love with her work. This video came out at the perfect time!
Kei Mochizuki is one of my favorite artists because of his unique use of colors and artstyle. You should definitely do him next!
Please don't stop making these videos, I learn so much from them and it gives me inspiration to keep practicing
I love these kinds of videos breaking down art as it helps me to study them better as a casual intermediate artist! Id love for you to continue this series it would help me a lot.
10:38 when you made the shadows a solid yellow, it made the painting more interesting to look at! crazy how the yellow makes everything POP!
I love you breaking down these styles, it helps me understand why certain styles pop and how i can add that to my own

You should do Kan Liu next. His water/fire and composition is insanely good. And his style is super unique in that it seems mostly opaque
I've been studying his style for months😂...he makes water look better than actual water
I would love for you to do another study session but this time its ASK. ASK's style is one of my favorites among JP artists.

That was a very nice break down. I haven’t heard of this artist before but I love her style. Thank you very much for sharing.
Please do Tan Zhi Hui next. this is such an amazing artist with insane shapes and character designs.
I really appreciate this series! Can you pls pls pls do an episode on Anmi? Thank you!!!!
I've just seen an interview with her and this video came out in the perfect time😍! I truly admire her for her ability to convey gesture/movements( your points about her style really helped!😍)
Yes. More please. I appreciate your extra effort for this new direction. It’s really incredible stuff

This video is so high quality, felt like a film PLEASE continue this series!
tis series is awesome, because i learn more about art as a beginner but also as an advanced artist, honestly helps me a lot
Mai Yoneyama is literally a god. Glad you chose her as your next study.
This is really well breakdown, when I'm looking at Mai's work, I usually get overwhelmed but with this I kind of have the idea now on how they made it
The fact that I noticed her artistic style in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
2022 Opening/Ending Animation is very surprising to me. I genuinely believe this video has the potential to go viral.
I like this a lot breaking down the process and seeing how they create their works of art. The art looks amazing.
So glad you covered her style cuz she's my favorite artist and I've always wanted to incorporate her techniques into my art and ultimately add them into my repertoire. Your finished art looked soooooo good so I'm very excited to see how mine would turn out. Cheers!
Edit: I'm also eager to know more about AGOTO's and Roitz's styles!
That was definitely way better then first attempt. Just simply amazing!!
Why can’t I like twice on the same video! Always inspiring!
I think it turned out really well! You sure do know your stuff being able to just break down how they draw like that.
I really love these kinds of videos because it teaches someone like me how an artist 'steals' from other artists. I've heard the 'masterclass' type thing but I never really knew how to pursue actually practicing these types of things... So thank you and I would gladly love to watch more breakdowns of some amazing artists.
I love this series! YONEYAMA IS MY FAV!!! Anyway the illustration looks amazing! You should do Rolua or Mogoon next.
Class made of awesome! Many of these tips will be useful even if someone doesn't want to study this particular style. But the brush update is even more awesome because I was looking for one like this for months now. It's perfect, thank you!
I'm loving this and I hope it becomes a series. It would be awesome if you break down Shigenori Soejima's art style next.
i want to say how i apprecitate that you update your brushes, one time purchase. Forever greatful and fan
I love this series, it's amazing to see you break down other artist's techniques. My suggestion for next video is wooperfuri!
yesss!!! i'm so glad we got a second episode and it was well worth the wait! i'm really hoping we get another one!
A study of Peter Mohrbacher would be very interesting. His character design style is very unique and grand!
Blud choses two of my favourite modern artists to start this series with 🤩 keep up the good work
This is genuinely impressive wow! Thank you for showing the steps you took to reach the final piece!
