Congrats on your selection! It's a fine set. I liked my first ATS-909X2 so much that I bought two more! Plus, I own one 2014 production run ATS-909Xs set with the exceptional RadioLabs ClearMod having Firmware Version P01, two additional non-modded 2014 production run sets with Firmware Version P01, one 2011 production run set with Firmware Version 1.18-Europe and one 2011 production run set with Firmware Version 1.29-North America. The only portable set that I currently own that equals new the Sangean ATS-909X2 radios in sensitivity and selectivity is the Tecsun S-8800, of which I own four. Thanks for sharing.
@@mhsvz6735 1. Because I'm lazy and don't want to disconnect and move a set from one floor to the other or from indoors to outdoors, 2. Because, having come across very good to excellent examples that are in my stable I'm saving up one of each for my two young grandsons that listen along with Papa and will get their own sets when they're a few years older and 3. Because I've gone radio-crazy and enjoy actively listening and, at the same time, comparing sensitivity and selectivity amongst different sets-just for sh*ts and giggles lol!
Great video and very good commentary as well! I also own the 909x2 and I enjoy this radio very much! The only problem I have had with this radio is with the included user manual; in short it is not very clear and it leaves you wondering how to do so many things that should be more simply explained. I find the sensitivity on the shortwave bands as well as the MW bands to be superb, and that is just using the whip antenna! Nice radio and a wonderful video you have recorded as well!
Seeing that your head is screwed on correctly, I’m listening closer to your opinion. Moral courage is an important trait that has been ripped away from the younger generations so they get good at lying to peoples face or pretend they’re stupid when a topic makes them uncomfortable. Take care. Holy cow, I noticed I’m the only one who noted on how important owning a quality multi band radio to get around the propaganda we’re flooded with today, lol. That should tell you volumes. Forgot to mention I plan to buy the first Gen Sangean ATS-909X to add to the 909X2, both great radios. I noticed you work with vehicles, I restore vintage Military Vehicles as a hobby (along with gun smithing, model railroading) which is a blast to work with. I’m 57 now and retired from the Army (Infantryman) so now I have some free time and I live in Texas. You live in a very nice area, I can hear the nature all around you! My wife can’t get it through her head that I don’t want to live in a housing development, lol.
My ATS 909x is useless on SW/HF useing the whip antenna compared to my Tecsun PL 660.If anyone knows how I can fix the whip receiption problem on SW,please let me know thanks.Maybe the filtering is too high.
I had to send mine in for repair, when it came back with a new PCB it worked better. Most of my SW Reception problems are from RF noise in my house from other gadgets
Nice to have a clear, understandable demonstration. Would u please let me know the battery work and whether time displays on screen when radio power is off
That metal table will help to because it will act like a ground plane , I have a metal table like yours and I put my tecsun pl,880 on it, nice radio you have there I’m going to order one before long.
Have you noticed on the Sangean that when you use AC power rather than batteries that it is more sensitive and louder? Is this a characteristic of portable SW radios in general?

I had my eye on it for years, but had the money and decided to get it. It failed about 6 months out of warranty. I sent it in for repair, they replaced the main board and shipped it back for $90. It works great now better than before. I wanted a portable radio I could listen to radio at night or take out on the back deck and listen to music. I really like this radio it sound fabulous on FM Radio and I still don't know how to use it fully

Why do you buy multiple radios of the same type? Just curious, thanks.

Nice job with the video. This is actually the 3rd or 4th version of the Sangean 909. It is truly a beautiful device - best of luck with it!
I need to get rid of some of the devices generating noise in my house and get an outside antenna for it in the bedroom.
3rd ats-909 model, the original 909 looking much more like the 505 and 405 but with ssb.
To check version just pres enter button when radio is off

Actually have never connected it to ac power. I noticed that SSB volume is very low. Disappointing.
From where I don't understand the resonance? 11:11
Sorry I don't understand your question
