The hoops they make teachers go through WHILE teaching students and keeping their "routine" the same as possible is crazy!! Teachers are rock stars! Happy moving and thanks for all you do for kids!
God it felt like you were talking my mind!
Lmao
I'm literally doing the same thing! I'm happy to be getting a newly renovated room, but why they approve these things in the middle of March is absolutely beyond me
the same is happening to me. it was supposed to be in December but the furniture wasn't delivered till almost the end of January so end of March it is
Exactly what i was thinking?? How come they can't start this at the end of may?? 🙄
@@alyssahun6320 Where I live we go from September to late June so it's the start of our last term, but still not worth setting everything back up for only 3 months lol
Oh my gosh! I am so sorry that the chaos continues! As a teacher who has been moved by movers several times, USE THE BOXES! Anything that doesn't have a lid on it may/ will get dumped. Anything that does not have a label on it (and some stuff that does) will inevitably be put in another classroom or lost! I wish you all the luck that it goes as smoothly as possible. Anything you can't live without, you should take home or put in your car.
Use the boxes.. those containers will get broken
💜I just love your attitude!! You keep on going no matter what obstacles are thrown at you!!! YOU definitely GOT THIS!! Prayers for a smooth move and easy transition into your new classroom!
Greetings from Nova Scotia 🇨🇦. I am a Middle School teacher- I am always amazed at what is expected from teachers - what other profession would be asked to do these things. Wishing you a smooth transition in your new space!
We just went through this in my school district as a three year, 15ish building update/remodel. One of the big issues we had was that it was taking a year or more to get some of the furniture. Don’t sell anything yet until you know for sure you have your furniture in your room. But overall, congrats! Enjoy the ride and craziness of a building under renovation 🎉
So so excited to see a video from you! But so sorry you have to move mid-year! I did it two times (during 1st quarter) and hated it. But maybe since it's getting closer to the end of the year this will save you some time for next school year's classroom set up and get most of that over with? You always have such a great attitude. :)
It’s just so aesthetically pleasing to see your sterilite boxes stack so perfectly 😍
Your doing an amazing job packing up!!!
You go girl!!!
Can’t wait to see your new classroom 😊
So happy to see your video!! Good Luck on your move 😀
I had to do the same thing this year! We had a brand new school built and moved in over Christmas break. I was so glad once we were finally done packing, unpacking, and moving furniture around!
We moved right after Christmas. We added 8 classrooms, and a couple weeks after returning from Christmas, we moved classrooms. We had 2 days to transition. We got it done though. We love our new room, though. And everything is new. So that's nice. lol
Shelley,
May God Bless You and Your Students.
My Heart goes out to you during this process of changes and for the stability of Your Students.
Please keep us updated and welcome back beautiful.

I haven’t seen an elementary classroom in twenty years due to my kids being grown but I’m in awe of the size and beauty of your classroom. We were not in a poor area but I just can’t believe all the room and extra storage you have! In the old days teachers had one tiny closet.
Teachers in a small classroom with a tiny closet and 1 broken bookshelf still exist nowadays... I'm one of many of them🥴
Glad to see many stories, your lot of efforts
Schools that are around, are going through this process, in the last seven years; three school districts have gone through this process; you got this, your students have this! Everything will be fine!!!!
I experienced the packing up process at the end of last school year bc our school moved to a new build. Fortunately, we were paid for packing and unpacking. I really hope you all are being compensated!
YAAAAYYY NEW VIDEO 🎉❤❤❤❤
I had to do this last year, which was only about a month or two after I already took over for a teacher after Thanksgiving break. Did I mention this was fresh after graduating 🙃. Our school is super old and we were in open concept pods. So when they moved me to do construction on my new room, I was smack in the middle of a quiet second grade pod. Kindergarten life is so not quiet 😂
I feel like you do this every single year! Plus add on a baby!!!
This happened to my bestie and I in 2019 (our school year in 🇦🇺 is from January - December). We then worked at a K-12 school and we were working in 5th grade - we had to move into another building due to construction. It was the best damn six months I’ve ever had teaching as we were LEFT ALONE for six months 😂
I suggest taping several of the clear storage boxes together and labeling them with your room number/name. I wouldn't rely on them arriving in one piece (if at all) just because "they" say it will be fine to leave them unboxed. If you can box it, do so.:-) This year has been the "Adventure Teaching" year. You move out because of a water leak, move back, and now move out again. You and the kids are so good at this adapt-to-change thing! Best wishes for a successful transition.
You made so much progress! I can't help but feel angry for you. You already had to get out once this year for some other issue. You spend all of that time getting your room set, now you have to suddenly move it. I can see doing this at the end of the year, but with a few months to go? Way to go getting so much done. Will they supply you with everything you need if they aren't letting you keep some of your stuff?
We will see!! Whatever they don't give me I will eventually bring back in
I can’t believe they are making you move now! That is insane.
Ugh, I'm sorry. I wouldn't handle it as well as you. Especially the whole "no furniture" thing, which I don't think will last long to be honest. I took a new job for next year in intervention and won't need most of the things from my second grade classroom, but I'm having a hard time deciding how hard to purge (I'm also not a hoarder) and how much to keep in case I go back to teaching a whole class. For now I think I'll just move it all into a storage unit and make a decision after the first year. Good luck moving!
What math curriculum did you guys adopt? I teach 4th and we have Eureka and I absolutely hate it. We also have twig and benchmark too lol. I actually am going to suggest phonics to reading to my principal too!!
That's crazy! How much storage will you have in your new room?
I don't know just yet! I am anxious to see
Why are you not allowed to bring the furniture with you?
+
Cuz they said no. Makes zero sense,
@@EarlyEDventures are you allowed to buy new and bring it in? Or can you only use what they are providing now?
@@EarlyEDventures I work in Ontario, Canada and my board also has a 0 personal furniture policy. This includes bookshelves and storage units, rugs, chairs etc. However, they certainly don't have the money to replace what we have spent our own money on! It's brutal.
I work in facilities for a school (not in CA) and I’m 99% sure it’s due to fire ratings. School furniture is supposed to meet very specific requirements which IKEA wouldn’t. Because of your old building they may have just looked the other way and allowed it, or it could also be allowed now because of the construction type of the current building being different from the new building.
hopefully you have an input into the furniture purchase
My school was destroyed in an earthquake in 2019. They are finally starting to rebuild… clearing land phase. It is a $98 million project! Hopefully it opens Fall of 2024!
We moved into a new building starting January we were not allowed to take any furniture. It was a bug problem.
I want to see your new classrooms
Quick question just out of curiosity…..how in the world do you get everything you are supposed to teach/get done in almost all half days every week? I literally teach 8 hrs a day 5 days a week and it’s hard for me to cover/teach/get everything done I am supposed to?
I don't. Those 4 short days we only did math and a science blitz. No new phonics, no new reading strategies, no new writing.
This is so disruptive :( I would not be happy to this in the middle of the school year AND during my Spring Break. Good luck for the move :)
we did this in 6th grade they decided mid year to have all the 7th grade downstairs and all 6th grade upstairs. Before that one team of 6th grade was downstairs and one team of 6th grade was upstairs. worse part of this the classrooms upstairs were strangely smaller than the downstairs ones and we were already packed in the old rooms like sardines
All the plastic baskets that you didn’t pack put them inside a big trash bag so things can stay together in the move. Don’t forget label them
Hey, totally random…there was some border that got missed in the back of the second drawer. 🤣🤣🤣
Can you tell me how you closed up the bottom of the boxes? We are moving soon as well!
Tape
Why are they not allowing you to bring your personal furniture to the new room?
Have they given you a REASON you can't take your own furniture/organization shelves? I used to teach and couldn't imagine not having my own organization shelves and things in spaces I want to create?!?! I'm sure the new classroom will be amazing, but can't believe they are going to have ENOUGH storage and organization options without you being able to use your own things.
Are you moving in your new classroom and I want to see your new classroom
So random but where are your thin containers with blue handle lids from?
Amazon! They’re Sterilite brand
i play school and i have a hard time getiing ride of stuuf in my bassment class room
Are you moving in your new classroom and I want to see your new classroom and make a move video
Where are the green chairs from?
National Business Furniture
It’s mid year and you can’t bring along the things you’ve been using for established classroom management and organization routines? How stressful!
Oh boy, on the mid year move. I move rooms a lot, but yikes.
why won’t they let you bring your furniture and stuff to the new room? i would think that would be easier😭 i hope the move goes well🫶🏼
No idea!
Someone said earlier it’s fear of bedbugs but other than upholstered pieces seems like wood shelves would be ok. And after it’s several years down the road they probably won’t care.
Are you moving new classroom
Moving pack up part two
Moving pack up part one
?
The way this makes zero sense. Pack up then unpack with only a few months to go? Then pack again for summer, I'm sure?! Remodeling sounds nice though my school is over 100 years old and could use some remodeling!
Bizarre that you can't keep or use some of your stuff. Talk about micromanaging. This video made me feel really aggravated on your behalf.
I thinks it’s stupid that you can’t bring your own furniture
Thank You!! At ur Expense, I got my Fix!! Missss ur Face!! 🫶🏽🙏🏽👏🏽
