tei-flow is what I use on my bicycle chains it's a "dry" spray lube will not attract dust, or moisture and unlike powder graphite stays where you put it
Hi,i am an old dude like you and i do a lot of experiments too..i believe the graphite is a great idea..i am soon going to try a dry graphite and see how it goes..i do lube my variators, especially the bushing, then i remove the excess with an absorbent cloth..there is a dry graphite that repells dust..that my be the one, lets see, thanks for your honesty, that puts ahead of most..i have a few things to share with the riding community...i have succeded in many experiments..
@Agility125cc I personally use graphite all the time. The video was made for a completely different reason I will not go into. Graphite works great for my personal use and I still use it. No grease spatter , excellent lubrication and it does not get on the belt. RH DSD
Hey man don’t mind other people! Keep experimenting!! People just like to be jerks. I see your thought process, and it made sense. Good video, and thank you for the info! Now I know, because of you, that lubrication in the slot probably isn’t a good idea! Keep the videos coming!!
Believe me, I am too damn old and tired to worry about peoples snarky comments. I am way beyond that, at this stage in my old life. thank you. R . My Recently Updated PlayLists have catalogued all my videos on this subject and much more! thanks
Hi Mr Dio just a question please, my sym fiddle version 1 is a 50cc the stand rolleres is 7 grams the moment, Whitch rolleres size you can recommend I like to bee same in flat rd and up the hills tank you and cheers four your videos I like to see cheers BERENGUER
I put graphte in mine but i use very very little and ive not had any issues whats so ever! i put 16,500 k on my stock roller weights. I tell you this too i took my stock weights out and they had so much belt duest i dont see how they werent acting up. I believe my kycmo agility 125 had graphite from factory cause my roller weights look just like yours after grAPHITE. I dont think graphite is the problem unless you use way to much. I am using sliders though,
One thing you might try on your rollers is to stray them with WD-40 then after letting the WD-40 setup on them then wipe the WD-40 off real good with a cloth the WD-40 will leave a thin film on then that will not come off and that's what you want.
You doing fine ,now lets get to next experiment lol, wish i could help you but im new in these twist & go scooters but they are a lot of fun & practical.
Make some videos and put them on youtube and share them. I started years ago with absolutely no experience, came up with a good story and started filming that story, and now I have about 37,000,000 Millon channel views. Thank you for your kind words. RH DSD
thought that it was a good concept but a flat spot will happen regardless i would have to say dr pulley sliders. they dont roll they slide instead, last a long time order two sets and your set. give me a pm alot of aftermarket rollers last about 800 miles and they suck either stock or dr pulley sliders are the way to go my stock rollers are still good with 2000 miles I have a bout 2000 on my slider weights still in very good shape
Do not put any lubes in your variator.period.Clean it up with a rag with a tiny bit of alcohol on it then let it dry before re assembling it.Change the rollers every 5000/6000 miles.Always check your drive belt for wear.
Hi, me again,, i have now got 11:9 g roller weights in my racing variator,, but feel i may need slightly heavier, can you please tell me what weights above 12g are available, thanks again!! I think even a stagger as you have suggested may be helpful as still revving a bit high at slow speed in city centre!
My scooters top speed has dropped about 10mph in a month. I know this isnt normal. Is the cause in variator, or do i need to look somewhere else. Btw my work rpms have dropped by about 250-350 rpm
Depends on you Weight, gear ratio, engine build and driving style. I would start with a full set of 8 gram DR PUlley weight sliders and see if that works for you. RHDSD
OK martin I"ll bite= How much do you weigh? What is the air density of where you live? What is the elevation above sea level where you Live? How old are you and How FUCKING crazy is your riding style? Are you into TORQUE or top end speed? Do you use the stock Throttle or Stage SIX WFO 200$ Throttle like I do? ARE you running a 32mm Sudco Keihin Carb? Are you using a Full Kevlar Belt? Are you using a 800$ racing pipe like mine? Answer all this and I may be able to help you. RH
I have changed my thinking on Graphite! In my Playlists , I have very Recently Catalogued all my videos on this Subject- Check them out !! thank you....
I have not Tried that. I am worried that the WD40 will get extremely hott and sticky and wont work well. I have changed my mind, and Graphite is the best. In My Recently UPDATED Playlists, I have many more videos on this Subject and other great Topics and they are all Free! Thanks RH
Hi, i have a Kymco agility 125 and have just put on a racing vario with 10.3g weights in it, it revs very high from take off and then seems to change into second gear, when this happens it has a great 10mph to 60mph now but do i need heavier weights or lighter to stop the over revving and lack of response before i hit the right ratio?? Any comments would be helpful, thanks!!

After your very sincere and thorough-going disavowel(sp?) of graphite use, you went on a bit too long about it. You could--in part of that time--have covered the utility of the wide range of weights which you apparently have: Colours, sizes, materials, shapes, et al. In a YT video, it's not as though you're prescribing a guaranteed cure for baldness.....!!!!
Could anyone please give me an explanation:What's the difference between a standard stock scooter variator and the racing variator?because frankly I don't see any difference. I wait for a valid answer.Thx
+Bogdan Crisan-Lupa A racing variator is slightly larger in diameter than a stock one. This allows the belt to ride higher on the variator creating a 3-5 mph gain in top speed. That is the simple no Bullshit explanation. I have a dozen of them and I recommend buying and using one of your choice. RH DSD
DIOSpeedDemon Thank you!!Just another question. This week I will purchase the racing variator, but do I need to buy another belt?Other specifications???And the racing variator helps me when I accelerate? The sprint I mean. Thanks!!!
+Bogdan Crisan-Lupa Your question opens up a world of possibilities. Got a Month- I can explain. Variator ramps come in two sizes, 15 and 25 degree angle. This affects how fast the rollers go from idle to wide open position. Doctor pulley like rollers are best. Kevlar belts are best. 1500 rpm stall clutch main spring is the best with heavy duty, v force, double, triple, springs , than stock. DIO belt kits give more torque. Put a 50mm Stroker crank, 98cc stroker piston set up. Phongeer short or long pipe for small bore stroker set up. Custom Boyeson reeds in a CT reed cage. 28mm Mikuni, or Kehin full race carb with polished intake and YOUR SET!!! Don't forget the 50:1 full synthetic race oil, 120 octane orange, Nitro-methanol/supreme mix fuel, aerodyne carb wing, water injection, boost bottle , racing tires and inverted oil transmission cooler. Also the full water cooled 98cc stroker set up that idles at 115 degrees, hits its peak at 265 degrees and fans to run the custom radiator. That is for a start. I have videos on all this and more. Like 2900 videos in all. See what you made me do? RH DSD
Not so The rotax Austrian engine aprilia scooter takes Real grease in the Vario thru 01 in 01 later is dry same engine. they sell vario grease ..140 degrees im old man too in NC USA my vario can get quite hottewr but under 200 degrees no that graphite will not get out onto belt try using slider weights they wear quite differently sir and you wont need that box of rounds too funny ..
I greatly appreciate your being honest with your findings on the modifications you make on your bike.
Never had any problems using a thin film of graphite on my rollers. My GY6 was in use for 5 years with thousands of miles too. No belt slippage, etc.
Someone be this guys scooter buddy, Everyone needs a scooter bro. I'm from Europe so I'm pretty luck in that regard. We love our scooters!
Ooooooh, scooter brother. Hey scooter brother! Let’s GO scooter brother! Scoooooter brotherrrrr!

Wow you got me there I was gonna spray some WD40 on the variator for my Gilera stopped as soon as I saw the warning! What a coincidence!=)

We live and learn. Thanks.
i use grease never had any issue very fine layer of grease applied to the rollers
@KuceenC It worked okay , but I did not find any great difference. It sure looked good though.
What about polishing the inside of the variator where the wheels go
I put graphte in mine but i use very very little and ive not had any issues whats so ever!
i put 16,500 k on my stock roller weights.
Thumbs up. Question; Have you tried sliders instead of rollers and if you have wich do you prefer? thanks
The problem is..... Stopping side vs other side
A properly applied Dry Film Lubricant (Spray or Brush-on) should be OK to use on the ramps surfaces.
Google 'Molykote 321R' for example.
I dont think it is right to lube the roller slot..

ei! do you have friend from the philippines? there are still a lot of tuning parts available here for dio's jog's etc. and its pretty affordable

Hi
My scooter stock variator roller size is 20x15mm 18g, Can I install 18x14 16g!
if you have 1500rpm compression spring.. what is the best roller weight for my scooter?
depends on all your other setup
thought that it was a good concept but a flat spot will happen regardless i would have to say dr pulley sliders. they dont roll they slide instead, last a long time order two sets and your set. give me a pm alot of aftermarket rollers last about 800 miles and they suck either stock or dr pulley sliders are the way to go my stock rollers are still good with 2000 miles I have a bout 2000 on my slider weights still in very good shape
Dry rollers, just use a clean cloth. Wipe clean and dry
if you want to clean that try joy soap or any liquid soap
How about silicon lube?
ay man try this set of rollers
7g x4 . 12g x2 try it good for 250 - 400 meters only
Do not put any lubes in your variator.period.Clean it up with a rag with a tiny bit of alcohol on it then let it dry before re assembling it.Change the rollers every 5000/6000 miles.Always check your drive belt for wear.
Sorry to hear that I'm 53 year old

So much better with sliders in the variator and not the rollers.

Could be a worn out drive belt that is slipping too much. Belts don't last forever and they cost like 30$ US. RH DSD
The belt was changed last year. I dont think that its worn out
do you think the sliders should be greased?
No. Use graphite black powder
How about ptfe lubricant??
I have PlayLists on my Main Channel Page with Many Many Videos on This Subject. All for Free. Thanks.

nope, I use only graphite in mine when I want a reall slick set up. It works great.
