I saw this performance on The Late Show when it first aired. It was the Mikio's guitar solo that melted my face and reminded me that I LOVE GUITAR SOLOS. Before this, I had seen some short clips of their official videos of Gimmie Chocolate , Iine, and Megitsune on a Fine Bros (now called REACT) reaction video on UA-cam around 2014/2015, but those clips were not enough to push me down the foxhole. It was years later when I watched "Rondo of Nightmare live @ Budokan Black Night" that I fell deep into the foxhole and I'm still happily there.
I want the baby metal pocket version too. but for makeup instead of pencil and colors and to be a music box mp3. With all baby metal songs. And shoot lights 😱.
5:30 and this is why Babymetal tours with security. We even had a nickname for the security guard on one of their European tours: SAS-metal (SAS is like the UK version of US Navy Seals). :-)
LVT I know the feeling! I've been on the BABYMETAL bandwagon since 2015. I've watched these girls grow up right before my eyes and I'm still watching everything I can!
This used to be one of my favorite videos to watch, but now it brings as much sadness as it does joy. Yui Metal is no longer in Babymetal and the guitarist Mikio is no longer with us. RIP. ❤️ I had tears watching this ❤️ will always be an iconic Babymetal video 💖
The first time i saw this i thought there was something wrong with the microphones at the studio. Wasn't used to how different it sounds live. Actually a really good performance.

@@crypticmisery7996 as I mentioned above, I think Su-metal could still wear her hair that way. But I might be wrong. I'm not a hair stylist LOL Mikio's death was a horrible thing that happened. Also meant that as a side effect because of the timing, I think it might be the reason we never got see Su-metal/Suzuka in her kimono her mom made for her coming-of-age celebration (and thus also not Moametal). And obviously something else which was bad timing is we never got see Yuimetal perform at her Legend Y Yokohama show.
i heard somewhere that Moa heard that the girl from Idoling has the same sur name as her (kikuchi) and asked if they were related. The girl said 'sadly we are not' then she hugged Moa.
You can see in their faces that they were very nervous about this performance. The girls tend to not smile as much and a bit stiffer in their movements. Geez, it's like I made a study of them or something. I just love them very much as they bring alot of fun and joy in this time of hardship. I can't help but smile when I listen or watch any of their music.
Thank you for nice reaction as always. This is the performance right after their Wembley concert in April 2016. This is the perfect live performance of this song and the babymetal fans are grateful to the Late Show who allowed to play the entire song live. It's a pity that this clip was taken down from the Late Show official page soon after the performance. These days, how many groups in the world can play such a perfect performance in this setting? All the members, including late Mikio and retired Yui, are such professionals.

For me this is one of the best performances of Gimme Chocolate, It's a real live deal. There is a very short video of them leaving to get in their VIP Van and there are fans waiting on them, Su surprised look is priceless. Off Subject: There is a video out of a tour of Miyako's (Lovebites) home studio and her pets. Perfect for Durty D and LVT. Miyako uses the same method as Kanami to send her songs out to the members for their parts.
The only tv appearance of Babymetal in the USA as far as I know of. The next time they come to the US, I hope they get to do more. But even in Japan they haven't done a lot of tv appearances. The camera director had some trouble in the beginning there. They didn't know who to focus on. Also Stephen had to know what he was about to see because they do rehearse before they film. A little goofing on his part. The crowd sounded like they knew. This is for Babymetals second album so already the One was waiting for them.
Although I'm sure you've seen it by now the official video was the first one I saw, and although I liked the music, but it has guys dressed in skeleton outfits, so you can't see who's playing. Not sure who they were, but I like this one better because you can actually see Mikio (RIP❤), BoH, Takayoshi, and Hideki & know who they are. And.., I'm with you LVT, Moa is a doll, someone you'd just love to give a hug to, nothing creepy or sinister, only because she's so damn cute. 😁

Always fun to watch BABYMETAL with LVT. :-D Be thankful that you are not a guy, because we feel just like that and get even weirder looks for it... I didn‘t think I‘d say that about a talk show, but I love this performance. Everybody is obviously in a good mood and having fun, the sound is surprisingly good, and I particularly love Su’s facial expressions. They did a great job promoting not just the music, but also Japan in general, in my opinion.
Their were a bunch of Babymetal fans going wild. Fan "Brian" also always talks about how the girls hugged (like they normally do off-stage) before their performance.
A Babymetal fan works in an agency that does bookings for this type of thing. The NYC fans had a heads up this was about to happen so about a dozen of them had queued up way early to get access to the show. They made noise, were not your "average" Colbert audience members, wearing Babymetal T's and the like, so Colbert knew something unusual was going on, hence his opening comments. The hype of the Babymetal fans caused hype of the others in the audience, freaking out others, turning it into the modern equivalent of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan as far as crowd response goes. Pay close attention to at about the 6:39 of your video. First appearance on American TV, in front of millions, and Su is comfortable enough to be making a funny face at Moa. UA-cam no longer allows links in comments, but there are videos of both the Kami's and the girls arrival to the show and leaving the show. Both show humble, respectful, obviously happy girls.

Are they even allowed too? They don’t really do meet-and-greets or backstage passes or anything. They don’t really get close to fans like that. Not saying they wouldn’t welcome a hug (especially from a female fan for obvious reasons), but I’m not sure they’d ever be out in that situation, they’re very protected.
Great reaction and good job on the pigtails LVT. This is better than the official video - find more live versions and on the third set of "atatatatatatas" spot Moa messing with Su and pinching her ear lobe.
That is a very good way to see _Gimme Chocolate_ in action. :D If I'm thinking of the right video, the Idoling! member you're talking about is Ami Kikuchi (along with Nao Asahi). Despite having the same surname, she's not directly related to Moa, but she is from Hokkaido, and there was some mention of parts of Moa's family being in Hokkaido. So, who knows? Obviously, she's very fond of Sakura Gakuin, and nothing kawaii will go unhugged with her around.

I'm absolutely not a Babymetal Fan. But man, they are cute and they proof that you can bring every stile together. Thsi song is cool and a Band who has this many fans cannot be wrong. My respect.
Actually "Wattattattatta" is the sound of a machine gun and Zukkyun / dokkyun is the reload. In some performances you can spot the "Moa poke" where she touches Su's ear at that point. The Kami band was simply NUTS here. Love it. Theres a short clip too from after this show, when they enter their tour bus and crazy fans outside scream "see youuuuu"
@@baumi-metal9123 Not necessarily you, but I’ve seen people spreading this fake story about how “Gimme Chocolate” is a song about how little Japanese girls would ask American soldiers for chocolate and that the noises are guns and stuff, and that’s just simply not true and I’m trying to squash this before it spreAds more. Su-Metal herself has talked about what the song is about and it is NOT that.

Notice how the Best BabyMetal is Yui/Mikio era? Both visually as well as musically imo. All bands change over time but Yeah anything pre 2018 is Double Platinum.
I disagree. Cutest yes but they keep getting better musically. At least as far as performance. The songwriting on the songs on their first album was fantastic. I really like the addition of the Western Kamis i thought they added some juice. They're good at the Djenty songs.
When I watch/listen to classic Babymetal, I think that is the best Babymetal. The next day I'll watch/listen to Metal Galaxy and think THAT is the best Babymetal.
They definitely did have a level of energy that's only achievable as children. Sure, they don't have that feeling anymore, but they've grown into something else. They've now got a mature, captivating, feminine energy. It's as refreshing to see in metal as their childhood cuteness was :)
Sadly, Japanese people generally don't hug. It makes them deeply uncomfortable, because any physical contact is taboo in Japan. They're big on personal space. No matter how cute they may be, it's best to avoid touching them.
Su (and Moa as well but mostly Su) makes a lot of funny faces during “Gimme Chocolate”. I may post a few of them in your Discord later because there are some good ones lol

Actually "Wattattattatta" is the sound of a machine gun and Zukkyun / dokkyun is the reload. In some performances you can spot the "Moa poke" where she touches Su's ear at that point. The Kami band was simply NUTS here. Love it. Theres a short clip too from after this show, when they enter their tour bus and crazy fans outside scream "see youuuuu"
Close but "atata" and "watata" is more like the sound effect for excitement (or panic move).
"Dokyun" and "Zukyun" is the sound to shooting.

Su-Metal herself has talked about what the song is about and it is NOT that.

Notice how the Best BabyMetal is Yui/Mikio era? Both visually as well as musically imo. All bands change over time but Yeah anything pre 2018 is Double Platinum.
I disagree. Cutest yes but they keep getting better musically. At least as far as performance. The songwriting on the songs on their first album was fantastic. I really like the addition of the Western Kamis i thought they added some juice. They're good at the Djenty songs.
When I watch/listen to classic Babymetal, I think that is the best Babymetal. The next day I'll watch/listen to Metal Galaxy and think THAT is the best Babymetal.
The holy trinity era feels more energetic and their concerts are epic.

They definitely did have a level of energy that's only achievable as children. Sure, they don't have that feeling anymore, but they've grown into something else. They've now got a mature, captivating, feminine energy. It's as refreshing to see in metal as their childhood cuteness was :)
Sadly, Japanese people generally don't hug. It makes them deeply uncomfortable, because any physical contact is taboo in Japan. They're big on personal space. No matter how cute they may be, it's best to avoid touching them.
