Hi, I found your page searching about niacin deficiency in ducks. It's wonderful the care you give your ducks and how much you love them. I am watching a friend's pekin duck while he's on vacation. She has been weak for two weeks while in his care. He did not know about niacin deficiency or that you could take a duck to the vet. He thought she was paralyzed from an injury. This is the third week she has been sick and I hope it's not too late. I have her now for two weeks and I'm hoping to help. When I got her she couldn't even hold her head up. I've been giving her niacin for three days now. She is now gaining strength, holding her head up and us now eating and drinking on her own. She still can not stand though. With your experience do ducks recover from this if it's not caught early or is it likely she will never walk? Is there anything else I can do for her? I hope you don't mind giving me advice. I know this is old, but I have a white duck that had a limp for about 6 months, then it slowly got worse and worse. Now he can't walk at all. He can stand up barely with help of his wings and beak. He's in good spirits , and I brought him inside. But I heard that it's irreversible. I started him on peas and actual duck pellets with niacin. We made the mistake of feeding them layer pellets for chick's. We got both when the pandemic hit. Is there anything we can do to get him better or is it too late? His legs are way bigger than the others. I don't want him to suffer but if I can fix him up I'd rather do that.
@@lovessummer2011 did your duck make it ? My son grabbed a duck some people he knew were going to put down and brought her to me. I’m giving her rooster booster . I don’t know what to do.
how long did it take for him to fully recover?? I have 2 ducks who have this problem right now, they weren't walking for about a day, and now they are standing and able to walk very very minimally.. still fallin easily.. I am giving them bugs and even a b vitiin complex.. what can I do to help them?? its been about a week...
