Manitou Cliff Dwellings
Museum in Manitou Springs, Colorado
The Manitou Cliff Dwellings are a privately-owned tourist attraction consisting of replica Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings and interpretive exhibits located just west of Colorado Springs, Colorado, on U.S. Highway 24 in Manitou Springs.
The Manitou Cliff Dwellings is a rare historical treasure. Preserved under a protective red sandstone overhang, authentic Anasazi cliff dwellings over 800 years old await you here.
The fascinating architectural remnants are from an American Indian culture that roamed the Four Corners area of the Southwest from 1200 B.C. to 1300 A.D.
The Manitou Cliff Dwellings overlooks Manitou Springs, Colorado at the foot of Pikes Peak. Wander leisurely through the preserve and explore the fascinating architecture of the Ancient Puebloan people. This preserve was first open to the public in 1907 and represents some of the finest architecture of the Anasazi Culture throughout Colorado and New Mexico.
Below the Manitou Springs Cliff Dwellings is a three-story Pueblo-style building that was built in the style of the descendants of the Anasazi. The first six rooms of our Pueblo were built in 1904 and housed a family of local Native Americans until 1984. Since then, the Pueblo has been expanded faithfully in the architectural style of the Pueblo Indians and houses our museum and gift shop.
