Most (all?) Majesty’s use the Rainmaker/Dreamcatcher set and all JP15’s use the Illuminators. It was a weird choice for Sterling to use the CrunchLab/LiquiFire combo in either of those guitars.
Dude, congrats on the Majesty! I love it, it's beautiful! I like that the center body medallion/shield sculpting has gone away. I think it looks so much better especially with that spalted top! The pickups really set it off too! Keep up the good work brother, your videos are awesome 🤘
I'm getting Sterling by Music Man John Petrucci MAJ170X ADR which comes with standard humbuckers and I will be replacing them with Dreamcatcher and Rainmaker
The Crunch Lab/LiquiFire set are just such an oddly nostalgic set. I mean it in an endearing way but it feels like everyone replaced their first 7’s pickups with that set or D-Activators. All in all colour me jealous, happy NGD Andrew!
@@colerichardson6739 interesting question. If it still holds up? Yes and no. Let's talk about the yes first. It still looks gorgeous and plays amazing. The no : the pick up selector has some weird scuffs like I dragged the thing through asphalt which I swear I didn't and it moved a little bit too much for comfort. Took it to a guitar tech and he found out that one of the screws holding the pickup selector in place wouldn't tighten. That has been fixed. Kinda hoping I can find a pickup selector replacement part to fix the scuffing look it has which again I've no idea where it came from. As for your other question I'm not familiar with the sustainiac board so I can't tell you if it would.
@@SjPedro how’s the tuning stability with the bridge. i’m not super aggressive with it but i do enjoy a good dive bomb when soloing/noodling around at home. planning on setting it up for drop A with a set of 10s
I got eargasm earplugs from my parents for the holidays. I always used hearing protection because I was congenitally born with hearing loss but they were always the drug store foam type. I cannot stress enough how much of a difference the eargasms make. Seriously he's right wear earplugs. Even if they're not eargams. I usually find the music sounds better live anyways because the sound guy WILL be wearing them.
Awesome review & sounds dude, that thing chugs to hell and back ! It's starting to make me like DiMarzio now. Question : did you use the string that came with it (10-56 I believe) or did you change them ? Because for the life of me, I always go sharp on my low B, even with a 58, and that's after a proper setting with a luthier. JP doesn't seem like such a light picker either but I read e only uses 10-56 for the 7 string. Is that the Musicman magic or am I missing something ?
Odd question but what amp head are you using in this video? I love the tone, and have the same guitar in Siberian sapphire. Is it the Revv I see in the background?
I’m glad they seem to have tightened up the QC at sterling. I have played 3 sterlings at separate guitar centers. Two were Jason Richardson models and the other was a st. Vincent I believe the name is. All 3 had absolutely horrible QC and were unplayable. I know GC is most likely at fault for the setup but if they came that way then it’s shameful. Also they wanted full price for what I truly believe were B stock. Just left a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to sterling. I’d buy an actual music man any day though. Long as it’s not sterling I’m down, just gotta save up for like 3 more years 😂.
El sonido no corresponde con una guitarra MAJ270. Debe haber alguna ecualización o algún tipo de procesamiento previo para estimular la compra. Esto es lo que siempre ocurre cuando un canal o un UA-camr está totalmente comprado.
The bullet inlays on the neck ruin this guitar for me. I bought one and want to love it but just can't over the inlays and it is such a silly reason. It feels and plays better than most guitars at any level.
i just got a schecter sls elite 7 string a couple months ago, first 7 string for ye boy! Any tips on getting a good tone? i cant get that punch even though im using a boss katana and can literally download tones 😂 im hopeless i swear
@@BaenaCarcosa the katana made it really easy to just get in and worry more about my playing when i first started with a 6 and never really worried about tone but now evolving my music taste and wanting to play it, the same tone i used for metallica and other stuff im not really listening to now just aint cutting it, thanks though dude, slowly learning my way around lmao
I like the katana, but I suggest trying something with a little more chunk/punch. Possibly a digital simulator like Neural DSP Gojira, Petrucci, Plini, etc 🙌
@@ColorSkyMusic i actually am planning to go this route!! I ordered a focusrite scarlet and i think im going to invest into the stl tones will puteny after watching a cover of someone playing antpile by kunlai khan and it seems like it RIPS
Congrats on getting to review a guitar you wanted, but i can not not be mad at sterling for doing dumb things. There are so many holes they can fit in( fixed bridges, 26.5+ inch scles....) and they are making too expensive guitars. Love you Andrew, but they need to stay in their lane and stop merging with musicman
Got one of these in cerulean paradise. Worst piece of s$^@ guitar I have ever bought. $2400 CAD for a shocker of an instrument. I have $150 dollar Harley benton's which were flawless in comparison.
That's a shame I've got a sterling majesty, had it for a couple of years and recently picked up a musicman majesty. Both are amazing and very comparable to each other. The biggest difference other than electronics I've noticed is that over time the finish on the sterling is thinner and cheaper looking compared to the musicman but performance and sound (when comparing just the pickups and piezo mixed in) are very similar
Big thank you to Eargasm Ear Plugs for sponsoring this video:

The most majestic thing in this video is the guy with the beard
Cringe comment
@@juliusmaximus753 cringe reply andrews beard is majestic as all hell
The CL and LF in a Majesty is actually kinda neat. The real Majesty has Rainmaker and Dreamcatcher.
Am I crazy? I thought the older versions also had the CL/LF combo
JP6’s came with CL/LF but the Majesty started with Illuminators
I don't know what that means
Sneaky Trivium riff in there ;)
Dude honored to hear you riffing on the II II II II for this unboxing 🔥 Sterling has some solid stuff, played a JP7 and was impressed.
I just got one myself! I got the blue one. Absolutely the best guitar I've ever played. 🤘
That’s it. This guitar is on my list. I’ve bought a few 6strings lately and I keep going back to my ‘06 Schecter black Jack 7.

I much prefer how they look without the shield inlay on the body as well!
That sounds fantastic and beautiful finish choice!

Such a killer guitar. I’ve tried a musicman and a sterling at long & mcquade and they’re both absolute gems! 🔥🔥
I was literally looking at saving up for this exact guitar yesterday
got myself a Sterling MAJ170 last year in Artic Dream and I absolutely love it. Congrats on yours
does it still hold up a year later? have you ever opened the control cavity? if yes how much space might be in there for a sustainiac board?

Ooh! Could you do a series where you do Deathcore covers of The Rolling Stones and other hard rock bands.
I just got the Sterling JP70 and absolutely love it! Do you think throwing a crunch lab bridge pickup is worth it?

do you know offhand what string gauges are on that?
Probably 10-56 but it should say on their website

Straight out of the box guitar has cracked ebony fret board? Just beneath A string on the 14th fret. Bummer but beautiful guitar otherwise.
Not a crack, just wood grain
