Hire yourself a petrol pedestrian roller for the topsoil it will save you all doing laps of the garden 👌🏼 we use one and there brilliant to get a nice smooth flat finish before the turf any defects can be raked out 👌🏼👍🏼

Thanks mate. I have got drainage holes on one side where the patio is falling to it, that’s to drain the patio not the planter. There is gaps in the footing with 300mm of gravel in them, that will suffice 👍

Thank you mate. With it being under a lawn usually Grade 2. As long as it’s not got any organic matter it will be fine. Once it’s down and established give it a feed regularly 👍

However, I wouldn't give such high marks to the designer: just hope the planting injects some much needed interest, colour and structure into the garden. It would be great to see you team up with an equally brilliant designer who can match your talent and skill for landscape construction!
😂 I designed it! Thanks ☺️ I think it worked well to suit the clients needs, it met their brief. I don’t claim to be a designer but it was perfect for what the client wanted…..not every garden or client need or warrant a garden designer. I’d say only 10 - 20% of the gardens we do are done by a designer. If you do some research into our company you’ll see we do work for designers who are unbelievable.

I accept what you say from your perspective as it stands to reason that if money is spent on design then there'll be less to go towards construction. However, personally, I'd rather see a more ambitous design and look to save on materials, e.g. by using sandstone slabs instead of porcelain. Just my £0.02p worth. ;-)
