I think their offense last season was a far bigger problem than their defense. If their offense clicks, with the pieces and length they have now, and a coach willing to actually use that length (*cough*Bol*cough*), I could see the Suns finish Top 10 in defense as long as their offense is Top 5. A flowing effecient offense will naturally lead to an energetic transition defense. I think the Suns also have the length to greatly improve their perimeter defense with a proper scheme.
I'm glad to see the suns being talked about! I felt like they had a very underrated offseason, and Book this summer moved me in ways I didn't think I could be, and the team seems like they may be able to actually make a run if all things align
@@TrillBuckets Almost nothing has changed for them this offseason. They’ll just be another mid or below average team that will make the playoffs, but get their ass kicked in the first round again at most
Tyus at least give their offence some shape, but the main problems are defence and redundancy. They spent their entire budget on elite mid-range shot creation.
With the Suns releasing the 2 players, I hope they are freeing up a spot for a low cost rim defender. I think that is their biggest need right now. A big man who can guard the basket and plays dirty and hussles for rebounds. They just need that edge of a hard working big. I know they still need wing defenders, but I think they can manage with what they got. But having a big who has no problem doing the dirty work would fit in so well.
@@Sillysoft Exactly! I’m curious though, did you have anyone particular in mind to fill that role? Cuz these days, even dirty work type, rim protecting bigs usually don’t come cheap.
If i’m a Suns superstar I would get top of it, and take advantage of what was a pretty great off-szn rerostering. Obvious to every nba fan it’s win now mode for the Phoenix Suns.
The fact that Beal HAS to start due to ego just shows the Suns arent willing to do what it takes to win. Beal has no business starting. Grayson should start over Beal, as he provides something different. Beal is just a poor mans Booker and provides nothing more in the starting lineup but another "mouth to feed". But last year was no surprise why this team was the worst team in the 4th. It was a combination of coaching and play. The coach had horrible lineups, didnt adjust and just let the big 3 go out there and figure it out. The players would get tired by the 4th and the shots that were hitting, were now clanking off the rim and there was no support. You would see these big quarters, like scoring 40-45 points in a quarter in the first half, then it would go down in the 3rd and then collapse in the 4th. Im hoping with a new coach and new offense, they can have better lineups and have the fire power to finish games. You dont want Booker, Beal or Durant being playmakers all game long. They arent that type of players. Their best situation is moving off the ball, going around screens, finding their spot on the floor, then getting a pass and either taking the shot or driving to the basket. Quick decisions that dont require mental power, just quick muscle memory. When the big 3 ran point, like Booker, they would dribble around, eating up clock and ending up taking long range low quality shots, or driving to the basket taking a weird off balance shot.
Suns have the same problem. Defense is horrible and their attack is less impressive than you might expect for some reason, probably team play? They have no roll players I am existed about. Look at OKC, DAL and BOS these teams have roll players that cam attribute.
I’m a die hard suns fan and I have little faith in them. We didn’t fix what needed to be fixed and that’s defense. This is a poorly constructed team that’s injury proned. I think the suns need a full rebuild but I get called a hater for saying that
Suns were top 15 in defensive rating and they didn’t lose any positive defenders. They still lack rim protection but they fixed two massive holes in turnovers and playmaking with Tyus and coach Bud.
@@suns_editzz booker’s defense got better in the Olympics because the scoring load wasn’t on him. That won’t be the case when the season starts. Booker is going to have to carry the offensive load and you’re suggesting that he’ll still be a great defender? Highly unlikely
@@Jaybru17 top 15 in defense is horrible for a supposed “ title” team. You’re not selling me on this team dude. No team has won a title with a mediocre defense
“Why is nobody talking about the suns” because they suck and will lose in the first or second round if they are lucky. KD will probably asked to be traded to Minnesota by mid season
Agreed. Suns fans acting like getting Tyus Jones and a few benched nobody’s is gonna solve all their problems when they’ve destroyed almost their whole core to try and find veterans and players they think would be good replacements for some of their former players on the team that they only set themselves up for failure and destroyed their chances of even going back to the finals. Don’t care if I sound blunt here, but they deserved their downfall for replacing everyone on they’re team but Dbook for mediocre talent and got swept in the first round by a team they swept all regular season. Ironic to see that happen to them, but they kinda asked for it so it feels like Justice was served there almost
@@colinedelman6392 Yes I do, Suns had the most destructive offseason when they got Bradly Beal, and they would’ve been better off without him. Getting Tyus Jones ain’t gonna make a difference, especially when your team’s big 3 consisting of KD, Dbook and Beal got swept in the first round by a team they swept all regular season, and showed that they’re the worst big 3 in the league as of now. They’re not gonna see another finals when they destroyed their whole core that got them to the finals to begin with especially since they chose to replace role players with big names and veterans than keep young talent. Only name they kept was Dbook but they’ll still be the same team next season as of last season. Nothing has changed for them, and they’ll just be a playoff contender at most and not a title contender. Have fun knowing that because your team can’t even trade Beal since he has a no trade clause and y’all are stuck with your mistake in getting him when it only made your team worse.
