In Germany, we had the Beta Summer Reprint Displays for 149,99 € at shops. After just 3 weeks, prices went back to 175-180€/Display. If Erics Curiosa is printing another wave... that's a little bit sad, yes, but still... the market will buy them all I think! Don't forget how much fun you have, opening a Display. Every tried? DO! It is the most fun I had in opening boxes for like 15 years. That fun alone will continue selling. I wanted to keep 2 Cases of first wave Beta, but ended up opening them all up! It is ridiculous how beautiful those cards (especially Foils) are. Please calm down guys. The game will move on and prices will stabilize aggain. That is investing.. hold the line.. easy. And in the worst case, we sit on the product which is AWESOME to open. Win Win Situation if you ask me ;-) Thanks Jens and Sofi! Stay positive ♥ Edit: If Eric's Curiosa is reading - Please keep it at one more Reprint, then another bigger Set.Thanks and cheers!
Thank you for taking the time to comment and watching the video, we really appreciate it! Yeah, I also saw that Beta was restocked for a short while in Germany, and then it seemed to quickly sell out, and I agree a big reprint is not my favourite solution, but I think it will be fine in the long run. We would probably also buy more Beta to keep to draft and sealed and have a few booster boxes for later, even though we know how difficult they are to keep sealed. 😂 I think the idea is to have some Beta around for people coming in with the Dragonlord set, which is too small to work by itself, and hopefully this will be the last reprint and it will be out of print just before the release of the big set next year. I hope that by next fall we will have been playing with the Dragonlord set for a while and just starting to play and collect the new big set in the fall/winter of 2025, and this big discussion surrounding Beta will be long forgotten. 😉
Thank you for the kind comment. I think at the core, we as the community simply don't have the data and information that they do. So we can judge them on a few things, if we think that they have delivered the gaming experience we want, if there are cool and collectible cards, if going to events has been fun, if the sets coming up sound like something you want to be here for -and if your personal answer is yes, then I think we need to trust that the game is in capable hands, that also want to game to be a success.
I believe the way forward (at least in Europe) is to fix distribution since Blackfire is a mess, and find a fulfilment company to distribute dust rewards, draft kits, and everything else that will come on the store. Next to that, providing rewards for bigger tournaments would be great (but that I believe it’s already happening, with the uncut sheets at multiple events)
I don't know what other options we have in terms of distribution other than Blackfire (an Asmodee), so I am not sure how much they can do, but I agree the distribution situation in Europe needs to be fixed. As Europeans ourselves, we are also really rooting for an EU warehouse and fulfilment company, because paying this much for Dust promo is a bit of a killer. I think, to my knowledge, the Sorcery team has provided some pretty generous prizing for all of the major event, both the Crown Sorcerer promo and Alpha packs, so in generally the events I have been to the prizing has been very nice. 😉 Thanks for checking out the video!
Great video guys, 100% agree with you. I’m in for the long haul. People are far too short sighted, no reason to get worried about a small bump that will most likely barely be remembered in a year.
Thank you, I get that there is a lot of passion and emotions involved, but I do think that things are currently out of proportion, since we know next to nothing about the reprint and if you really love and enjoy the game, then hopefully you are willing to stick with it even when everything isn't perfect. I hope that this whole discussion is something we hardly remember by the time we are sit down to collect and play the Dragonlord set or the Sinister set in the fall/winter! Thank you very much for the kind comment and we really appreciate you taking the time to engage!
I wouldn't say we are not at all concerned, but ultimate we trust that Erik and the team will do what is right for the game, based on a lot of data that non of us have access to. I know that collectibility means a lot to Erik, so I think they are seeing enough demand to feel comfortable with reprint (and it might be a tiny reprint, maybe even mostly to be able to also print the Beta precons), and I think they have done a great job so far, so we have faith in the game and look forward to all the exciting sets coming in the future. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, we appreciate it!
Thank you, I think that is all we can decide to do and enjoy playing and collecting, while we do it. Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment!
Thank you! We actually have one more that is uploaded and ready to go, but decided to film and put this on up first. 😉 But I am happy that you are looking forward to it! 🙏🏻
Thank you for your soothing voice of reason. Sorcery is a new and exciting game. I am enjoying the adventure. The Sorcery team are well versed is using controversy and uncertainty to create interest and grow the game. And growing the player/collector base solves all. Stay positive! What a wondeful place to be.
Thank you. I think you bring up an excellent point, it is a very new game and it has seen overwhelming success, which has not made it easier for the company to estimate print runs vs. demand. I hope that the community can turn our focus on playing the game, collecting the beautiful cards, and enjoying the art. ❤️
I love listening to your take on the reprints and I totally agree with you both We have a great game... Fantastic art... Awesome rules coupled with an amazing community I took would like sorcery to grow More power to Sorcery... Morning power to EC and his team and more power to you two 😊
Thank you kindly! We appreciate you kind comment! I ultimately don't think this reprint will be the end of Sorcery, and there is so many great things to look forward to, and we choose to focus on that as we have no control over the reprint, but we still want to enjoy playing and collecting!
It would be amazing! I would love it, especially if they choose to include all of the references as well! We willhave to see, but something Simon said about the final picture show a GenCon made me look closer, and there are some interesting things there, but we will make a video on it later! 😉 Thanks for watching!
I live in Europe and have been eating import costs from the US. I can´t get people to play because product isn't very available in Scandinavia and my nearest LGSs have gotten repeatedly screwed by distro. Most of the 'noise' regarding the Beta reprint that I´m hearing is from folks in the US that easy access to product (for now, enjoy your retaliatory tariffs!). People need to cool their jets. If they want a product that´s "highly rare", "valuable", and incredibly "niche", there is a game for you: It´s called MetaZoo. I for one would like to see Sorcery widely adopted and played, not just an "investment vehicle" for "stonkers".
As you know we are also in Europa and have had to grab some boxes and buy singles outside EU. Right now Kelzor here in Denmark actually has some decent prizes on both Beta and Arthurian Legends boxes! 😉 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ❤️
Well said. I haven’t been in the discord recently but have heard about the rumblings on UA-cam… as the game grew i figured the discord community would evolve towards being more contentious and fired up about the little things. Thats what happens when games grow and people start looking at $$$ rather than the joy of the game/collecting/etc. Stay strong you two and keep putting out positive vibes like you always do.
Thank you! I think it is very dependent on which groups you mostly frequent, things are very chill in our Discord and on the official Sorcery Facebook group, and people should to vent their frustrations, but I do think it is a little premature when we have no information either way. We are generally positive people and more focused on what we can actually control, like continuing to play, make video and enjoy the game! Hope you have a great week!
Great take on this. I think if my lgs had beta it'd round out the game and attract players, currently they just have AL and that'd all they have ever had.
I think a lot of us came to sorcery in the hope that this wasn’t another game reprinted to the moon. It was a hope and not a promise made by the company. Everyone loves the art. I just don’t think this game is going to be as collectible as some of us old guys were wanting. With one set a year they can’t be screwing up these releases. To me they have only made 2 products and they just keep hitting the print button. Like really alpha beta is pretty much the same set that they have been milking for years now and they just keep printing out slightly tweaked versions so now they made a bunch of confusion for anyone wanting to collect this.
Hi Chris We personally came to Sorcery, because we wanted a game with a slower release pace, not always feeling like the newest set had the next one chasing it, we also wanted art that didn't feel so generic, a game with fun gameplay, and we feel like we found that with Sorcery. I think reprinted to the moon is too strong of a word choice, but with a yearly release cycle, product does need to be available, especially for the Dragonlord set with only 13 cards and for Arthurian Legends when it comes to constructed decks, but in reality Beta has been around for the average TCG cycle of around a 1-1,5 years, if they retire it somewhere in 2025. They have printed two waves so far, which to me personally is not hitting the button non-stop, and they already admitted very early on that demand had been hard to gauge with a new game for the Beta run. As for what they have done for the past couple of years; Alpha was delayed due extensive playtesting and feedback to making it a better game and Beta has been out for roughly a year, and we have Arthurian Legends now, and I think they overall have done a pretty good job. I think there is a lot of intense talk right now, but I don't think this Beta reprint will break the game, not even the collectibility, and when the Dragonlord mini set releases we will see more new players, hopefully backed with LGS initiatives as Simon spoke of at GenCon, and then we will have a very large set in the Fall/winter, that will probably push Beta into retirement, and I want to be here for that playing and collecting these sets as well, just as we have since the Kickstarter days. If you decide the game isn't for you, then I hope you find something that better fits your needs and expectation, and if you stay with the game, I hope to see you at an event or on another video. We wish you all the best.
Living in the Texas, my issue isn't with the reprinting of Beta. I have issue with how beta has been distributed. Alpha investments and Team Covenant have sucked up most of the supply while smaller LGS's (who hold weekly play events) are left with little supply. I hope that this reprint will go to the LGS's who help grow the game. Love this game and want it to last a long time.
I agree, I do think they need to focus on growing the LGS playerbase right now, and I hope with the new store kits and other initiatives they will be able to incentivise players to go to their LGS and for LGS' to pick up and carry Sorcery. We really love the game as well and hopefully by next winter we will hardly remember the Beta reprint discussion, because we are too busy to play with the big Sinister set! Thanks for watching and engaging, we really appreciate it! ❤️
Within the UK, I can only find 2 online stores selling summer beta at £142 and they have only be doing so for a few weeks. Not sure how much product they have but I’m guessing a reprint won’t arrive here for 6 months so I will welcome some extra supply ahead of the next release since I’m pretty confident summer beta stock in the UK will have gone by then.
For sure mate. Supply in the UK was never that robust. I've certainly not seen any summer beta, and the prices are definitely inflated compared to the rest of Europe.
I think a lot of the discussion is centered on the US, but the situation is pretty different in other areas. I hope and think the reprint will primarily be here to serve those areas and to make sure that they have booster boxes for the new store kits to get LGS' onboard. There is probably also going to be a need for some boxes to support Dragonlord set and I think that set will be bringing in a new crowd of players as well. I find myself coming to the conclusion that all the things we wanted from Sorcery are still here and hopefully in a few years no one hardly remembers the debacle surrounding the Beta reprints, but either way it is too soon to judge, since we know very little about it. Thanks you for checking out the video and leaving a comment.
On the long run EC will do a good job and the game is great. But on the operational level there a some or even many misstakes in my opinion. The lack of precons and the lack of unlimited. Thank you Sofie and Jens!!
I agree, we are in no way saying that there hasn't been issues, but I think the current reactions that we are seeing seem a bit out of proportions, since we have zero information on the actual reprint size, release date, or target area. I think they need to hire an external consultant to look at some of the shipping/customs issues, and they might need to be even more pessimistic when it comes to calculating production time and delivery time. Thank you for checking out the video, we appreciate it!
It's pretty simple. Wherever in Europe you find a booster box for 150€ it's gone almost instantly. Until you have a situation where maybe boxes at that price sit for like a month, we still have a demand. New players enter the game all the time. They want cards to play with. You cannot build constructed decks with just Arthurian Legends alone. Sp the solution is to print a bit more beta. I think the thing that they should have said at the beginning of beta is: We will watch the market and reprint as needed into Arthurian Legends as well, because with only set year we have to make sure that product is actually available. If they had said that loud and clear in the beginning no one would be fussing now. I for one am FOR the reprint. Invest in alpha, play beta and if beta becomes more valuable in 10 years it is because players that came into the game where actually able to play it now. That's my take.
I think that both Arthurian Legends, at least in terms of constructed, but especially the Dragonlord mini set will need to be supported by some Beta boxes. I think the way the reprint came out and the timing unfortunately did not help, and might be a part of some of the reaction we are seeing currently. I think, and hope, that this will be the last reprint to tie us over until we hit the big set in the fall/winter 2025. ❤️ Thank you for engaging and taking the time to watch, we really appreciate that!
@@larryjang5580 I would agree, but our point is it is too soon to say if they will overprint, especially with more players coming in. We don’t know anything about the size, timing or targeted areas. Since we can’t control either of those parameters, we choose to focus on what we can control; enjoying the game, collecting AL non foil set, and having fun at events. 😉
I think Eric should deliver dragon cards in sealed packs of 1-3 cards to stores to be given out with AL or Beta box purchases or as prizes in events. I wouldn’t want them to only be given out in events since I don’t have the ability to attend them.
I don't think that would happen, since some of the players would just play in enough events to get all of them, making the set less desirable to purchase, but it will be interesting to see what the Dragonlord set contains! I think the current AL store kit is a little too top heavy, so I hope that the next store kit will have some more promos with it, so some can be given away randomly.
I like your perspective. EC is clearly trying hard to hit the sweet spot for collectors and players to grow the game. They have all the info on how best to do that. We all benefit if the game grows. I don't get the concern about the reprint, to be honest. If the game grows, the early sets will become more valuable. Even with a reprint how many boxes will be out in the world of Beta? If the game grows a lot, it will seem a very small number. If the game doesn't grow, well, how much would Beta be worth with a small player base or (gulp) a dead game? I am excited for future sets. I take this whole experience of backing a new TCG as a wild ride, a rollercoaster. There will be ups and downs. No sense to get upset over every decision EC makes, even if someone doesn't agree. They have way more at stake than any of us.
I know that Erik cares a lot about collectibility and I think the entire team are striving hard to balance that with also accessibility, and exactly as you say, they have the information and data on that, that we as the community are not privy to, and I think we need to remember that they are also very motivated to get this game through the initial growing pains. We have some very great years ahead of us, but requires us to stick with the game and the people who truly love and enjoy both the collecting and the gaming will stick around to see more from Sorcery. Thanks you very much for checking out the video and leaving this detailed comment! We really appreciate being able to have a good conversation around this whether or not if we agree with the comments.
I am mostly a collector as I don’t have a play group in my area. These chase cards are SOOOO hard to pull… Overall, I think people are way too dramatic. TCGs get reprints. This set (Beta) is barely over a year old. This is the core set that NEEDS to have cards available for new waves of players. I think most the negativity is from the so called investors looking for quick $$$. In five years Beta will be doing just fine. So will AL.
The chase cards are incredibly hard to pull, foil, some Uniques, and especially combined, as well as the true chase cards like Curios and the gilded cards, and even if we get more boxes, this pull rates on these are still going to be very difficult to pull. I think we have a lot of exciting sets and cool things to look forward to, and the Beta reprint won't change that too much. Thank you for watching and engaging with us in the comment section here. We hope you have a great day!
Thanks for the video! Saw a picture of frog man Dan playing a game of 2-headed giant!😮 I want a 4 player match. Hope you will bring the mat on the 30th and stay long enough for a match or maybe we can get a match in before the tournament.
Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. I will grab our four player mat for the tournament of Saturday, but then you will probably have to get there early enough to play, because I am not able to stay past the end of the tournament, unfortunately.
In fact the announcement stands, the train is rolling,so we can nothing do about it just trust in EC what they are doing 🤷♂️ I just don't like the rumors, whining around it of people even we really don't know,by now, what the 3rd wave means and which part of the world will get it and how many it will be. So calm down, relax, have fun, play some games, open some boxes and enjoy the beautiful community that has build around this game from the beginning. Peace 🤠✌️
Yeah, I think we all have to breathe, see what this Beta reprint ends up being, when it will release, and where, so in the mean time, as you say, we will keep playing, collecting and enjoy the community. Thank you for checking out the video and commenting! ❤️
Unfortunately, I think they will be printing this as with wave 2 with no significant changes in layout, but we don’t know yet as we haven’t had any official statements on the reprint. Thanks for checking out the video, we appreciate it! 🙌🏻
Honestly I am not worried about any Beta reprint. Beta is for the players and it is the entry point to Sorcery. Cores, Duals, the majority of avatars, all that. I think EC really just needs to communicate their aims and goals. They need to explain how they plan to bring more shops in. The game needs more player growth and if it sees that then the reprints will be fine. Also worth considering that at one set a year, Beta being in print up ro set 3 is basically equivalent to the standard TCG cycle. My other thing is in response to collectability and value. I think Foils and Curios are and should be emphasized as the major collectible aspect of Sorcery. The game is new and niche. Getting in should be cheap and easy. If the non-foil prices suffer to make that happen I'm fine with that.
I think you made a lot of good points and I think that Beta is many ways is a "core" product needed for constructed game and especially with the Dragonlord set, because it is such a small set. I think we got some of the explanation regarding the LGS onboarding with the new store kit (that contain Beta boxes), I agree that I would love to have more details, but most importantly I hope this really incentivises LGS' to pick up, carry and support Sorcery at their store. I think that the pull rate in both Beta summer and Arthurian Legends for foil uniques and in general certain uniques will make sure that they keep some value, and Curios is more of a niche market, and requires some more deep pocket and a real interest in some of the more niche parts of the game. Thank you for your well considered comment and for watching the video, we appreciate it!
Thank you, we just prefer to focus on the stuff that is inside our control, and in the end the reasons we got into Sorcery haven’t changed on the fundamentals. ❤️ Hope you are having a great week! 🙂
I’m excited because if they could lower the price of cores just a bit, I could get those, get a couple more P-stones, and some other essentials for an for affordable price. I’m mad at myself for trading away the additional 2 P-stones I pulled. Bad move on my part in hindsight.
@@Cognazzo95 I hope you acquire some of the cards you are looking for. Are they for decks or your collection? 🤩 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
@ I’m actually relatively new to TCGs so, while I do build my own decks occasionally, I like to watch deck techs and build those too. I tend to learn combos I would have never thought of otherwise. AL has a lot of beautiful synergy with Beta and I can’t wait to see what Erik Curiosa and his team come up with next.
@Cognazzo95 Amazing, building your own decks really gives you a lot of insight into the cards and game. Well, the Dragonlord mini set is the next to release and after that there is a really big set coming up probably autumn/winter 2025! 🤩
Should have gone unlimited, change the print ID with unlimited identifiable on the back and card front! Giving beta its unique status and new players all the product!
I think they are reserving unlimited for a future set, when they have released more set, where we will see some needed reprints, but hopefully with new art, clearly distinguishing Unlimited from Beta. Beta has only been out for roughly a year and there was the original printing and then wave 2/spring/summer, so I don’t think the thirds reprint will break anything. It is still within a regular TCG cycle, and with Unique and Unique foils being so rare, not to mention the Curios, I think there will still be collectibility in the set. I think Beta will retire after this print, having boxes to cover the Dragonlord release, since it is only 13 cards. After that we know that we have a massive set coming in the fall/winter, which will then be the “main” product.
I’m sorry but there isn’t a chance in hell I trust Eric and the team. I don’t know them. Ya they had a bunch of cool people paint some cool pictures. I remember flesh and blood also from New Zealand I remember meta zoo. Heck magic Pokemon and force of will. Every one of these companies has had a real hard problem on hitting the reprint button. Go ahead and make one set a year and fall asleep on the print button and see what happens to your collectors. I like sorcery because the cool special factor.
I trust them completely. They are intelligent people who love the game they are making and actually care about the players and collectors of their game (unlike some other companies).
I do know the team a little, a very little, but I see the passion, the depth of gameplay and art, as well as how they talk about the game, and I trust that they are doing their best to navigate the game between accessibility and collectibility, and that we have some really cool things in store.
The only people who are upset about reprints are the investbros and people who buy booster boxes for speculation...basically the cancer of youtube investbros be it pokemon, sorcery, magic the gethering etc. I m a collector and I want to get 2 more master cases for the fun of opening them but I m not willing to do it at $200 a box when I can buy Flesh and Blood at $58 a box. Prices won t plummet and again only investbros are unhappy.
I think if Beta or Arthurian Legends prices drop significantly here in Europe, I would buy some more for the future, especially since Arthurian Legends might not get printed again and I want to be able to play limited with the boxes later on, and having a couple of Beta boxes for later play would be awesome. Thank you for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it! ❤️
I think they will be discontinuing Beta after this, but they do need some boxes around for the Dragonlord set, as it is too small to play by itself, but we have a major set coming in the fall/winter and then that will probably be the "core" set. I hope if they do a Revised/Unlimited set in the future, they wait until there is a few more sets out there to reprint from and that they decide to do new art for all the cards. Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment. ❤️
The summer reprint with its superior print quality destroyed Beta’s collectability and price. Imagine they did that with Alpha. Psychologically it just makes people not want either.
I think that since a lot of people are separating the Beta print run between first and second wave, people collect the set they enjoy most. Some people prefer the more washed out look of wave 1 and the better odds of pulling multiple good cards, and others enjoy the saturation of wave 2. I don’t think we can universally conclude that no one wants to collect either, as a lot of people are doing so, and some even collect both sets. Thanks for watching the video! 🙏🏻
Something I would like to get off my chest... I believe the "Collectors" who are most upset about this reprint are the same "Collectors" who only buy a plethora of boxes to find the big chase cards and then turn around and sell them online. I understand selling cards, as many of these individuals more than likely do, are running a small business that follows the rules of Supply and Demand and are concerned about their investments. (It is understandable)However, this very small percentage of the community does not have SCR and its Community's best interest at heart: the health of the game and its player base. They want SCR to be the "MTG Killer" so they can capitalize on their profit margins to justify the obscene amount of Ordinaries and Exceptionals that gather dust. Let's stop treating TCGs like a stock market. Let's stop feeding into the toxic habits that have become cliches for most TCGs. Let's stop trying to get rich from cardboard. Let's continue to grow this community around the people who love SCR for what it is: a great game.
In europe we got sorcery summer right now (in winter) and there is plenty of product available and singles, the reprint is def not needed right now They should focus in improving distribution and content so the game grows, right now the game is sooo expensive for new players... precons DO NEED REPRINT, but not the booster boxes of beta. I trust EC will do the best for the future of the game
I think the precons are absolutely needed, and while some places have product now, the team has more data, that I hope they are using critically to gauge demand. I hope and trust that Erik’s Curiosa will be navigating this as best possible, to ensure that the game grows and we get to experience many more sets in the future. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
Action is the only form of truth. The fact that they are reprinting Beta boxes but Precons are still $80+ a set tells me all I need to know regarding how their incentives are aligned with ours. Precons should have been so ridiculously common that they are practically given away. I would have liked to have seen some better traction from this company at this point and they seem to be spinning their wheels here.
They have already said that the precons are getting a reprint, or in fact they are already printed and they are awaiting the rulebook and assembly. Which might also be why a Beta reprint was needed due to the printing process, since they reprint the entire sheet and not only the precon cards. I think the fact that precons sold out only goes to show that there was a ton of demand for an entry level product with a lot of gameplay value. I remain on the camp that we don’t have enough data to fully understand the situation, and that I am still excited for future sets, enjoy my collection and play the game. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. 🙏🏻❤️
I see no reason to reprint beta unless they have no intention of ever releasing an unlimited print run, which i doubt they wont do. Given that being the case just release unlimited and stop reprinting beta. Just my 2 cents
I think with the Dragonlord set, it will need some Beta back up to get into the game and be able to play Constructed, I would have preferred a Unlimited/Revised style product in a couple of years giving a reprint to some needed cards, but with new art. But as long as we don't know anything about the size of the reprint, when or where, and taken into account that the Sorcery team has all the data, I trust they are navigating this as best they can, and I also trust that they want to maintain collectibility. Thank you for checking out the video and your 2 cents, we appreciate you taking the time.
In reality, we don't know, but I don't hope or think so, I think it is far more likely that the discussion will blow over, and then we are at the holidays and into 2025, where we have the awesome Dragonlord set, and by the end of the year another mammoth of a set with the Sinister/Dark theme, and I want to be there for that. I hope you find a game that suits your expectations better.
Collectors are the ones keeping this game alive. There aren’t enough players, I bought three booster boxes of beta (which I opened) the singles will not appreciate.
I think this perception might have been true at one point, but I don't believe that to be true anymore. I think we see a ton of players, especially at all the tournaments, diving into the game and more players are spread all over, and 12,000 players, and this is only those registered, seems like a good spot for a game who has only had its first retail set out for about a year. I think the singles will appreciate, at least the foils and uniques, but it will take time, I don't think a lot of us got into Sorcery expecting singles to boom only one year after release, but a good chunk of cards have decent value, and I think more will follow, as Beta is out of print and more players need singles for decks in the future. Thank you for taking the time to check out the video and leaving a comment. ❤️
In some locations, I would agree, but the discussion is more nuanced than that, and individual people reporting what is true for their store or area, doesn't compare to the overview that Erik's Curiosa has, and I trust they do the best they can with a much better understanding of the current situation and data than any of us. I think this reprint will tie us over to the big set in 2025, and then Beta will be discontinued for good. I think we just don't know enough about the reprint for the current reaction, let us see how it plays out before reacting. I am a big believer in focusing on the stuff we can control, rather then worry about things outside our realm of control. I know that the fundamentals haven't changed, Sorcery is a great game with amazing art and I enjoy collecting the full sets and enjoy the gameplay.
@@CardboardGuide cmon sofie. poor distribution of product doesnt equate to product unavailability. bringing in more boxes that are actually well distributed will not help the massive overflow of product already available in other places but only add to the problem.
@ivanfuchs2820 I think you narrative is very US based, plenty of areas have had very little access to product. And all I am saying is that as long as we don’t know the size of the reprint, when of where is will be coming out, I think it is premature to judge. Only a few days ago you were saying the exact same thing in the official Discord, so did you change your mind based on new information?
I would be very interested in where you know this from, I like to think we try to stay on top of news, and I haven’t heard anything about the size, dates, or target areas.
New product is coming next year, both the Dragonlord set and the big sinister set in fall/winter 2025, but with all hand painted art and one set per year the 'core' set does need to be available for some time, I think Beta will probably retired after this reprint, when the next big set is just about to release. Thanks for watching and commenting.
How do we move forward? Personally going to dump what I have left and refocusing on Magic only. It was an interesting experiment and I thought this one would be different but I don’t trust that they know what they are doing.
I am sorry to hear it, I truly believe that in a couple of years the reprint will be long forgotten and Beta will be out of print. We have a major dark/sinister set, coming up in the autumn/winter next year, and Ed Beard Jr. Dragonlord set, all things I wouldn’t want to miss. We will you all the best regardless. ❤️
@ thanks for taking the time to answer, I hope you are right and I hope they will get beta out of print. I’m curious to see if they manage to survive with 1 set / year. I understand the need to reprint might also come from the need to get cash flow, 1 year for each product is a very long time for a company to run healthy. No other CCG company ever tried to run so slow and it will be interesting to see if it’s sustainable.
Dear God, how can you contradict yourself so hard? Really?? Magic?? Out of all tcgs available, you choose magic? Yeah, opinion discarded. You're probably trying to scoop product while fudding.
I don't think it is a cash flow things, I do think it is to grow the playerbase, and not just the one we have currently, but also the growth we will see when the Dragonlord set hits, and I think they will retire Beta after this print and then the next big set will act as the core set. I hope it is sustainable as I really enjoy collecting and playing the game! Thank you for the nice conversation.
I think that’s far too early to say, it depends on a lot of factors, like the size and target of the reprint. The game has been far more successful than anticipated, so the growing demand would have been hard to assess correctly. I do hope that the reprint will be smaller and targeted, and that a good deal of the boxes will go to store kits and the like to get LGS’ started. Thanks for watching the video.
Stay positive ♥
Edit: If Eric's Curiosa is reading - Please keep it at one more Reprint, then another bigger Set.Thanks and cheers!
❤
Thank you for taking the time to comment and watching the video, we really appreciate it!
Yeah, I also saw that Beta was restocked for a short while in Germany, and then it seemed to quickly sell out, and I agree a big reprint is not my favourite solution, but I think it will be fine in the long run. We would probably also buy more Beta to keep to draft and sealed and have a few booster boxes for later, even though we know how difficult they are to keep sealed. 😂
I think the idea is to have some Beta around for people coming in with the Dragonlord set, which is too small to work by itself, and hopefully this will be the last reprint and it will be out of print just before the release of the big set next year.
I hope that by next fall we will have been playing with the Dragonlord set for a while and just starting to play and collect the new big set in the fall/winter of 2025, and this big discussion surrounding Beta will be long forgotten. 😉
Thank you for being the voice of reason. I am sure that Eric's Curiosa do not take such a decision lightly.
❤
Thanks for checking out the video!
Great video guys, 100% agree with you. I’m in for the long haul. People are far too short sighted, no reason to get worried about a small bump that will most likely barely be remembered in a year.
more like 60 days
Thank you, I get that there is a lot of passion and emotions involved, but I do think that things are currently out of proportion, since we know next to nothing about the reprint and if you really love and enjoy the game, then hopefully you are willing to stick with it even when everything isn't perfect. I hope that this whole discussion is something we hardly remember by the time we are sit down to collect and play the Dragonlord set or the Sinister set in the fall/winter!
Thank you very much for the kind comment and we really appreciate you taking the time to engage!
I couldn't be less concerned. Bring on the beta 🙌

Wow I would LOVE a Dante’s inferno set! I’m really excited for a darker more mysterious set and an inferno set could work so well
It would be amazing! I would love it, especially if they choose to include all of the references as well! We willhave to see, but something Simon said about the final picture show a GenCon made me look closer, and there are some interesting things there, but we will make a video on it later! 😉
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ❤️
I hope you get some games going anyways, Arthurian Legends is such a great set for limited play! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Hi Chris
We personally came to Sorcery, because we wanted a game with a slower release pace, not always feeling like the newest set had the next one chasing it, we also wanted art that didn't feel so generic, a game with fun gameplay, and we feel like we found that with Sorcery.
I agree with the sentiment. Alpha investments has distributed 0 summer beta i'm pretty sure. Their 2 beta sales were long ago, both first wave.
Alpha Investments didn’t get or distribute any Summer Beta, only 1st Wave Beta Boxes.
@@eccboy7 Chaos Cards has summer beta boxes available for £142.95, and i've bought 2 from them in last few weeks. So does The Card Vault.
I think the thing that they should have said at the beginning of beta is:
We will watch the market and reprint as needed into Arthurian Legends as well, because with only set year we have to make sure that product is actually available.
If they had said that loud and clear in the beginning no one would be fussing now.
I for one am FOR the reprint. Invest in alpha, play beta and if beta becomes more valuable in 10 years it is because players that came into the game where actually able to play it now.
That's my take.
Bought AL booster box for 115€ this week.
Beta is reaching +200, and Im gonna buy 2 of those.
Thank you for engaging and taking the time to watch, we really appreciate that!
Folks !!!
If you overprint a product, you will pay the price.

In fact the announcement stands, the train is rolling,so we can nothing do about it just trust in EC what they are doing 🤷♂️
I just don't like the rumors, whining around it of people even we really don't know,by now, what the 3rd wave means and which part of the world will get it and how many it will be.
Easy fix. Have reprint be the same as beta but stamped or (c) labeled
Well said 👏 ❤
Thank you, we just prefer to focus on the stuff that is inside our control, and in the end the reasons we got into Sorcery haven’t changed on the fundamentals. ❤️

@ for future decks of course!
@ Any fun decks that got an upgrade with AL?
Discontinue beta and release unlimited/revised. I think that would respark enthusiasm.

Couldn’t be less worried about a reprint. Grow the game!
😮
Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻❤️
In europe we got sorcery summer right now (in winter) and there is plenty of product available and singles, the reprint is def not needed right now
They should focus in improving distribution and content so the game grows, right now the game is sooo expensive for new players... precons DO NEED REPRINT, but not the booster boxes of beta.
I trust EC will do the best for the future of the game
Somewhere it was sad in order to have precons they need to reprint beta. Not feasible to just print precons, because of how the printing process works
@@CardboardGuidewell said 👏
I see no reason to reprint beta unless they have no intention of ever releasing an unlimited print run, which i doubt they wont do.
Thank you for checking out the video and your 2 cents, we appreciate you taking the time.
i'm dumping this unlimited reprint is garbage...game dead
Ok, Timmy. Sell me your product for pennies then......
The data does not share your opinion.
retire beta. weve had enough of it and plenty of supply still available at entry price
@@CardboardGuide yes from what it seems itll be a full blown wave of product that hits american LGS fully
I would be very interested in where you know this from, I like to think we try to stay on top of news, and I haven’t heard anything about the size, dates, or target areas.
Stop reprinting please make a new product
New product is coming next year, both the Dragonlord set and the big sinister set in fall/winter 2025, but with all hand painted art and one set per year the 'core' set does need to be available for some time, I think Beta will probably retired after this reprint, when the next big set is just about to release.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
First
😉 We look forward to hearing what you think, thanks for checking out the video!
@@CardboardGuidethanks, cool video. I just want to play. So whatever they want is a business move I’m sure.
Sell me your product for pennies Timmy......I'll buy it
I don't think it is a cash flow things, I do think it is to grow the playerbase, and not just the one we have currently, but also the growth we will see when the Dragonlord set hits, and I think they will retire Beta after this print and then the next big set will act as the core set. I hope it is sustainable as I really enjoy collecting and playing the game!
Thank you for the nice conversation.
A fruitful response would be retracting the announcement of the reprint. They just killed their own game otherwise.
To say they killed their own game because of a reprint announcement with no context is laughable.
Meta zoo all over again 😅
Sure bro
I think there a very, *very* few similarities between Metazoo and Sorcery, and I think it is much too soon to call it quits on Sorcery.
You're the 4th person I've had to call a Timmy today........
