This is how to summon the Brood Mother in No Man's Sky. The Worlds update added in a ton of awesome things to No Man's Sky including new plants, new animals, new water physics and even a new enemy! The Brood Mother is a new enemy that must be summoned, so let's go find some juicy grubs and summon her!

To unlock new helmets, remove all of its armor including legs, head, and belly before killing it. I did this all the time and unlocked all the helmets very quickly.
Brood Mothers have a chance to drop a cosmetic helmet, albeit a very low chance.
i've seen 2 different helms so far. no gloves boots or whatever else yet though.

That’s because the brood mother citin armour is one of the rewards from the next expedition which seems to be focused on eliminating brood mothers as well as normal expedition stuff. The helmets however are not tied to the expedition and are a low drops rate from brood mothers.
I've gotten 4 different helmets - the other one is going to be an expedition reward.
Is the expedition out yet? Specifically on ps4.

It's good to Jump Systems with your freighter, because you can scan all planets at once with the "Scanner Room" base building module :D
Grubs. Yeah, that is where they live. Underground! This is a cool 'gamelet'! Oh, the Starborn Runner gurgles now with the water jets! And I LOVE the treatment they gave the water. I thought I was at Galveston on the North Jetty for a minute! There are wavelets lapping the beach plus swells and cross swell systems. Like real life!
My guess is that the Brood Mothers will provide the chiton we'll use to make the new armor the expedition rewards.
The Mo Man's Sky website says "Hunt and destroy insect queens to earn new player titles and harvest a variety of wearable insect headpieces. Strike terror into your foes with the Broodling Skull, assert your dominance with the Brood Mother’s Maw, or continue the hunt to earn even more…" Xbox player so I can't play yet and mess around with them
you dont craft armor, thats just cosmetics like the other armor set, it will just be an objective in the expedition to kill them.

You gotta farm them for the helmets. 4 helmets in total and takes around 15 brood mothers to get them all. A new title with each helmet too.
I really like this feature as a sort of "rite-of-passage" type deal! Maybe it could be used as a challenge for a pirate faction, say you need to fight the Brood Mother alone in a big arena in order to join the band of pirates! It could be great for things like that if you like doing pirate or tribal roleplay or smth
Anyone else on PS5 having the game crash repeatedly? My game crashed maybe 5 or 6 times yesterday. Opening the inventory, leaving a planet, or entering the Star Chart have all crashed the game on me so far.
Yeah I have but it’s was more the screen turning off then coming back on
Yeah I've had it randomly freeze and then crash when I enter my freighter, or warp and all the things you said, but not every time tho
@LiamPotter-bx9zu it seems to happen at random. Usually after a some time of playing. Maybe it's a memory leak?
Yes. For me it's just after leaving a planet and random freighters spawn in. Complete game freeze. Big updates always have teething problems

To get a drop from the Brood Mother you have to shoot off all her armour (she had multiple), that's what another UA-camr said.
You will have a very high chance to find Juicy Grub in abandoned solar systems.

Fellow Xbox player here. It’ll be when Xbox’s greatly reduced certification team gets around to it since it’s apparently on a lower priority than their first party and big name third party titles.

I must have been REALLY lucky. I got all the helmets after 5 fights. I grabbed 12 grubs and crushed two on one planet and the rest on different planets. Don't crush them on "points of interest" as they won't come out. They are different depending on the planet.
brood mother is just going to be a part of the Expedition like we have had items exclusive for them previously, kinda sucks tbh.

She drops 1 of 4 helmets. It’s like a 10% drop rate.
If you zoom in in your starship it will also pop up the little menu of the planet
The water on my switch is not the same big waves with a storm as that was seen on your channel. it's the same boring water from before the update.

The first brood mother i killed have me a piece of armour and this was on my regular save not an expedition.

Last time Xbox didn't get the update until after the weekend. Switch got it a week later.

Unfortunately, you are unlucky, but keep hunting them, which will eventually give you new helmet.

Yes they DO 'drop' something. Keep killing them and you get HELMETS, HELMETS, HELMETS. Real bugged-out (insectoidy) heinous ones. Keep playing!

Hey dude, when you went into 1st person to scan for vile brood on that planet, you didn't need to. Position the reticle about 1cm above the target planet and you'll get the scan prompt 😉😉
Yeah, he said that you don't need to be in first person to scan it, but it made it easier for him.

Did this update actually add stuff to do? As far as I can tell all there is to do is wait for the expedition, get the new water landing gear, and maybe explore some of the new planet generation. I guess most of the update went into the technical stuff behind the new planets which is nice I guess, I just like the part of the game where you get better weapons/tools/ships etc or progress in the story.
Exploring the new planets/environments could be considered something new to do. Look for a perfect planet for a new base, search for new fauna, or like in the video hunt down some Brood Mothers. But doesn't look like theres much to do in the weapon/tools department, but after playing on a save for awhile you kind of max out weapons/tools anyways. Also you can max out the guilds if you haven't yet
And here's an idea free of charge ('cause I'm sure many in this awesome imaginative community have already thought of it)... because you can summon a Brood Mother wherever you want on a planet, let's build an ARENA BASE and have the BROOD GAMES with BROOD GLADIATORS. Spawn as many of those 'muthas as you dare... and be one of "THOSE WHO ARE ABOUT TO DIE". Heh heh...
