greetoings and love from germany.....the best performence ever,,,,,,and you were there...? damn, congrats, i saw him live here in Cologne in 1989 and never will forget this expirience thanx Gary, R.I.P. stay safe, buddy
It is so good to see a younger generation person like yourself enjoying the brilliant music and musicians we had in the 60's and 70's. We had it good and so good to see you appreciating it.
The song was written by Gary and Phil Lynott, no one can beat Gary on guitar but for the best vocal look for a version with Phil Lynott singing. RIP both of them, the best of Irish talent.
Yeah - Gary Moore really is that good. Great feel, great timing and technique and when he takes flight in his solos, he's soaring amongst the very best. He does a rip snorting good cover of 'Friday on my Mind' too.
Parisienne Walkways is where the "Greatest Solo Ever" was taken from. So now you've basically listened to it twice. Messiah will Come Again at Montreux will change your life. Honestly ADOG.
I'd like to tell you the history of this epic song, just from my own research. I worked evenings in a school on Friday nights in Crumlin, Dublin, Ireland. Phil lived just over the road. Phil used to come there on Friday nights to rehearse so I was tasked with removing all the desks in time so he could set up. I used to stand outside the window and listen. Anyway roll on a few years and Phil and Gary were all over the scene in collaborations during the 80s. But things moved on and they were both living in London and met up regularly on and off the scene. One Friday evening Gary came to Phil's flat and dropped a guitar score on the table. He said I wrote it but have no idea what it's about, give me some lyrics. A few days later Phil came back with Parisienne Walkways. Phil's father had died a young man but his name was 'Paris'. It is simply a lovesong about Phil's parents, his mother reflecting, but in Phil's words.
Really love this version he also played "The Messiah Will Come Again" on this concert live at Montreux 1990 which in my opinion is the greatest solo on guitar ever.
A great song, one of his marks, that he played throughout his career until the end. There are so many versions of this one, he almost never played it the same way. This is certainly not the best one, for me personally his best version is actually one of his last performances in Montreaux 2010, from which festival 20 years earlier in 1990 is one of his greatest performances with “The Messiah will come again”, absolutely mind blowing!! Another amazing performance that shows his intuitive playing and versatility is “Separate Ways” from a small country club in London, just before he started his tour in 1992, an absolute jaw dropping performance!
Gary is my biggest influence as a guitarist. If you want to see him in more of a band context with another guitarist. Find the video for Gary Moore and Friends for the songs "Black Rose", "Cowboy Song" and the "Boys are Back in Town" from his days with Thin Lizzy. Sad we lost Gary in 2011. Glad to see you youngsters (I'm in my 50s) discovering this guy as an artist.
he has a whole album of Hendrix covers. Voodoo Child [slight return] and Red House are great. you can see live performances of both. also, the guitar instrumental, the Messiah Will Come Again, is amazing.
Thank you for the good music "Da Real Adogg" from Germany! And Mr. Gary Moore war one from best gittaristen from this World. And older he war the gittarist from band Thin Lizzy. RIP Gary.
I haven’t heard this in a very long time. It gave me goosebumps ❤ Thank you so much AD for bringing us together, uniting people in joy, light, love & peace 💞🌏🎶 ☮️
Saw Gary several times live and he always gave a brilliant performance! From Skid Row, Colosseum, The Gary Moore Band, Thin Lizzy, G Force and all his solo albums you get to realise what a versatile and special player Gary was. Try Empty Rooms for something similar, or Red House Hendrix tribute, or Murder In the Skies, After The War, in fact just pick any live performance at random and you won’t be disappointed. My GOAT!!
The Messiah Will Come Again (Montreux 1990) is the only 10 minute guitar solo you will not wish it ended sooner. This puts you in church and his guitar is the preacher.
For another great performance try Gary doing ‘still in love with you’ at the tribute concert to Phil Lynott, One night in Dublin. One of the few songs that makes me tear up. Superb performances from Gary and other band mates from ‘Thin Lizzy’.
That's a bad dude, brother! You don't have to know anything about guitar to know that was one of the greatest solos ever! One of the 🐐 s. I think you would enjoy 'blues deluxe' Joe bonamassa. Great reaction!
ADOGG, a few new Jones to check out: Leon Russell Lady Blue Atlanta Rhythm Section So Into You Allman Brothers Band Rambling Man Fleetwood Mac Anything you can find album Tusk I'll send you some knewones all along! One more: Al Gree What's Going On Sam Cook Change Gonna Come 🤗Loving your show!

The best of Garry Moore - The Messiah Will Come Again (Montreux 1990) a great moment in my life... that I will never forget

That is GREATNESS from songwriting to performance. RIP Gary

Actually I believe it was written by Roy Buchanan

Yeah - Gary Moore really is that good. Great feel, great timing and technique and when he takes flight in his solos, he's soaring amongst the very best. He does a rip snorting good cover of 'Friday on my Mind' too.
Gary Moore played this song each concert as a Tribute to his dear friend Phil Lynott
One of the best guitarists ever. Greetings from Norway. 😀
Parisienne Walkways is where the "Greatest Solo Ever" was taken from.

The most expressive guitarist ever!!
RIP to the GOAT.
he has a whole album of Hendrix covers. Voodoo Child [slight return] and Red House are great. you can see live performances of both. also, the guitar instrumental, the Messiah Will Come Again, is amazing.

He did not even make it into the best 100 guitarists in the Rolling Stones in 2015. What were they smoking?
Corrupt!!!! Did Blackmore make the list??? Iommi???? Fake lists.....
Loved by fellow guitarists, inspired so many other fellow guitarists, and blatantly ignored by the music media.
